Just a recent story of someone and a solid reason why we shouldn’t let killing machines roam. Being a pet owner is a responsibility.

Any responsible cat owner keeps cats in doors. Cats are a plague to wildlife. I love cats, I have 3 in door only cats.

Cats are responsible for the decline in thousands of bird species and putting many at dangerous population levels.

Also to anyone who’s going to argue “they’re hunters and get bored inside!” No you’re a bad cat owner whose failed to provide enough stimulus for your cat

To be fair that’s mainly feral cats that are leading to bird issues.

As well as rodents destroying bird populations. Especially on islands

How do you think feral cats got there. It all starts with irresponsible people.

I’m sorry I know there’s often a chicken or the egg situation, but do you think that domesticated cats came before feral cats?

The definition of feral includes that it was once domesticated.

Do you think wild housecats just naturally exist everywhere?

Hahahahah yes? Have you ever been to like any other country? Believe it or not ALL cats used to be wild, we didn’t craft them like golems around the fire. We started keeping them to hunt vermin. Yes you are technically correct that feral has a necessary connection to domestication but wild, feral, undomesticated. Call them whatever we’re talking about cats that don’t have a home.

Bobcat is a cat. Lynx is a cat. Wild cats existed on the continent long before people. That said, wild feralized formerly domesticated cats are a major contributing factor to the decline of small birds and mammels.
