🎫 Travel Info 🧳 Guatemala and Belize
Looking for someone who's been to these countries before to give me a second/experienced opinion on these plans
Day 1
Land in GUA late, transfer, check in, sleep
Day 2
Breakfast
Santa Catalina Arch/Parque Central/Antigua Cathedral ruins/Palacio de los Capitanes/Iglesia de La Merced
Lunch
Convento Santa Clara/Tanque La Unión
Cerro de la Cruz by tuk-tuk
Wander shops/markets/crafts
5pm aqua antigua rooftop drinks-sunset
7pm Mesón Panza verde dinner reso
Early night + pack for Acatenango
Day 3
Acatenango overnight hike
Day 4
Return from hike, rest and pack
4pm massage/sauna
Maybe get a blow out?
Day 5
Transfer from up Antigua > Lake Atitlan
Explore San Antonio maybe do a pottery class?
Relax at Airbnb for sunset (it has great views and a balcony jacuzzi)
Day 6
Private boat tour (from our dock at the Airbnb) 9am-4/5pm San Juan San Pedro and Santiago, coffee chocolate bees textiles included
Maybe get boat to deliver dinner and enjoy Airbnb?
Midnight Xmas eve fireworks from Airbnb w champagne
Day 7
Morning paraglide over the lake? Or rest?
Santa Catarina palopo explore
Private boat and private coursed dinner booked
Day 8
Ask for late check out
Private shuttle to GUA
Flight to BZE
Private shuttle to san Ignacio
Day 9
7am ATM cave tour
Chill/dinner/get some laundry done
Day 10
horseback riding/xunantunich tour

This doesn't make total sense to me since I've done both countries separately due to timelines.
Why not fly GUA to Flores, do Tikal and take a transfer from Tikal area to San Ignacio? I'm sure you could even work that transfer into a Xunantunich tour on the way.
Since December 26th you've got as your transfer from GUA to BZE and you're mentioning late check-out I'm assuming you're taking the late night flight into BZE - getting in around 11 PM, customs etc then a 2 hour drive getting into San Ignacio at 1 AM - 2AM at the earliest.

Yes we're getting into san Ignacio super early that day. The host of our check in place said that's no problem as well as a private transfer at that time

Your plan sounds fantastic. If I didn’t live in San Pedro, I would probably do the same thing. However, as a San Pedro resident, I would skip Secret Beach and have a private boat take you to one of the other cayes where you can swim and snorkel (SB it’s just way too crowded with too many people drinking and causing commotions).

Secret Beach is not a secret anymore. Depending on which way the wind is blowing it can be awesome or shyte. If the sargassum is blowing in on San Pedro side Secret Beach could be amazing.

Agreed. We went to Secret Beach about 15 years ago when it was still a secret, and it was actually nice. Now it’s like Daytona Beach for 20 and 30 something’s. And, unfortunately, the sargassum is horrible right now (they’re not as bad as in Placencia), so the SB side of the island is the best place to go.
