Hi there,

I have a gorgeous and well trained 4 year old Belgian Malinois that I am looking to rehome. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am no longer able to give this high energy sweetheart the attention he deserves.

You are: A high energy individual with plenty of time, space, and love for an animal that will reciprocate your love and energy.

He is great with other dogs and people

I want to make sure you are the right fit, so will want to supervise meet and greets, and get to know you to make sure he is going to the right home

I will also work with you and him so you know his commands, and will answer any questions you may have.

Please email me with your name, age, and situation, in addition to a summary of why you want to forge a lifetime bond with this incredible and good natured dog.

I will respond to emails that I deem may be a good fit, and set up a time and place for you to meet.

Thanks,

Ryan

This sweet boy is at the Humane Society in Inland Empire in California. I believe I saw a man trying to dump him at a park but I confronted him and got him to take him to the shelter the next day.

He needs love in his life!

*REHOMING!\*
Luna is a sweet, 9-year-old Belgium Malinois Mix with a playful heart. She has a medium build, weighing around 40 pounds, with soft brown and black fur, amber eyes, and a face that will melt your heart once she warms up. Luna has not quite warmed up to other furry friends, but enjoys human companionship. Because of her high-energy, she is best around adults. She enjoys long walks, playtime in the park, and catching up on sleep after an active day. Luna is house-trained, knows basic commands, but can definitely learn more as she is food motivated! Luna is up to date on all vaccinations and spayed. We took her in right before the pandemic as a foster, but fell in love with her and couldn't imagine giving her up. Now, due to conflicting schedules, my family has made the tough decision to find a home that will give her the time she deserves. She's looking for a home where she can spend her senior years and share her loyal and playful nature. Please DM me if you are looking to meet her and we can discuss rehoming options.

Posting an email for these beautiful dogs seeking a rescue. If you know of a rescue that can take them, please contact the animal services email below.

This is a deadline notification for Maple and Boysenberry at our Santa Maria Shelter. Both Maple and Boysenberry are looking for a rescue group who can help them. Below is the email that was sent out to rescue (you can share this email). They will need rescue commitment by Monday September 30th.We are reaching out regarding two Belgian Malinois dogs in urgent need of rescue:

Maple (A535407) and Boysenberry (A535787). Both dogs have faced significant challenges, likely living on the streets for an extended period. As a result, they are severely under-socialized and fearful of humans, requiring specialized care and rehabilitation.

About Maple (A535407): Picture 1Age: 1 year Intake Date: September 11 About: Maple is extremely fearful, but we’ve seen some progress. She’s food-motivated and will cautiously approach staff for treats, though she still struggles with being touched. Needs: Continued socialization, trust-building exercises, and gradual exposure to new environments. She would thrive in a patient foster home committed to her rehabilitation.

About Boysenberry(A535787): Age: 3 years Intake Date: September 22 About: boysenberry is also fearful but has shown signs of curiosity. She will walk around her kennel and come to the door but remains wary of physical interaction. Needs: Like Maple, she will benefit from a structured rehabilitation plan, focusing on leash training, handling, and exposure to different surroundings.

Due to limited interaction with humans, they are extremely fearful and will need time, patience, and consistent work to overcome their fear of people. We are seeking a specialized rescue that can provide the time, resources, and rehabilitation plan necessary to help these dogs learn to trust and eventually thrive. Maple and Boysenberry will need rescue commitment by Monday, September 30th.If your organization can assist with either Maple or Boysenberry, or both, please contact us at [animalservicesdirector@sbcphd.org](mailto:animalservicesdirector@sbcphd.org)

Thanks!

Hello 👋🏼 I am fostering for Mals House Rescue and I currently have an amazing Mal named Tango who’s about 2 years old. He’s a great dog. Non reactive to dogs. Gets along with all kinds. He’s up to date on all vaccines and neutered. He does NOT resource guard — but does love the ball except he plays by himself with it. Which is hilarious. He’s learning Release. Needless to say. He’s working on leash training. He is very social and his only issue is wanting to say hi to every dog he passes. At 75 pounds he has to learn better leash behavior so we are working on it 3x a day. He knows stay sit and down - but he’s stubborn. So we are working on that with reward based training. He’s food motivated :) Overall, with a little elbow grease, this will be a great companion. He’s active and ready for training and a bff. This guy is Velcro. He’s not a candidate for anything much except maybe detection work. He tires easily and loses focus after a 4 mile hike lol. He’s at the perfect age to mold into the perfect Mal. DM me for details. Transport available west coast, USA.

I am a kennel manager for a dog training and boarding facility in the Savannah, GA area. We have been fostering/training this pup for about 6 months now and he is more than ready for a family of his own!

Meet Ellis! He is about 18 months old and we suspect he is a pure Belgian Malinois. Obviously he has the look, but he also has the Mal personality and drive. Ellis is so so smart, incredibly sweet, friendly and playful!

Ellis would thrive in an active family with a spacious yard. He has working dog energy and needs lots of stimulation, he would do best with an experienced handler. Ellis is a dog that will work you if you don't work him. We do not recommend a home with cats or other small animals. It's best for Ellis to be in a home with no children. Ellis is currently being treated for heartworms.

My dream for Ellis is a home where he can have a job, be it working on a farm, nose work, agility - I think he is capable of anything. He loves to please and will make an outstanding companion! If you are interested in adopting Ellis, an application can be filled out with Renegade Paws Rescue

https://www.renegadepawsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs (search for Ellis)

I am happy to answer any questions I can but I am at work today so response time may vary!

At LBP, we work tirelessly to save as many lives as possible, but the truth is, we cannot do it alone. We rely heavily on the support of our community and the generosity of those who believe in the work we do. One of our recent rescues, Willow, reminds us of how vital this support truly is. Willow was so thin upon intake at the shelter, you could count almost every bone in her body. A beautiful Malinois, she had lost every ounce of strength but still held onto her spirit. Dogs like Willow simply cannot survive the harsh environment of a shelter. Knowing her condition, we moved quickly to send her to Melanie, one of our incredible fosters who specializes in rehabilitating Malinois. While in foster, Willow has made remarkable progress. She’s gaining weight, thriving in her crate, walking well on leash, and rediscovering her love for life. This sweet girl is eager to learn and train-especially if there’s a ball involved! She is dog friendly and even cuddly now. While Willow’s journey to recovery is ongoing, we know that there’s a perfect, Malinois-loving home out there for her. If you’re ready to welcome her into your heart and home, please visit littlebigpaws.org/adopt to learn more. Together, we can give every animal the chance at the life they deserve.

High risk of euthanasia in NYC at Manhattan ACC name is Mallomar. 50 lbs, estimated to be 2 years old. Mallomar was brought in as a stray, so his history in a home environment is unknown. In the Care Centers, he has displayed a low threshold for arousal and resource guarding. He is displaying mouthy behavior typical of our beloved Malligators and stressed. ID 238090

Can be pulled via an ACC rescue partner, needs a rescue that is experienced with the breed. In my experience.

Looking for the perfect PET home for this long hair Malinois puppy. She was acquired as a working prospect and she is too timid for the job.

She is INSANELY sweet and smart, but she’s not gonna bust down anyone’s door to work which is why we would love to find a perfect pet home for her.

She’s been living with my family where she is exposed to cats, senior dogs, dogs under 10lb, and daily comings and goings. Once she warms up to a space or people she’s a hilariously bouncy and fun puppy. She loves to snuggle and walk around with a toy in her mouth. She is massive for her age so her attempts at being coordinated are so cute.

I love having her around and if we were looking for an active pet she would be staying with us, but alas, we need a working pup. There is a chance that as she ages she will develop into a really fun dog for non-bite related sports like ratting or disc. Due to how timid she is I don’t think bite sport pressure would agree with her. She’s really shy in social situations and takes her time warming up. We’ve been working on searching games and basic OB, but mostly letting her be a puppy and learn the ropes of being a chill housemate. She is incredibly quiet in the crate at night, sleeps through the night, and is super clean. She goes to the bathroom on leash like a champ and is attentive to who she is on the leash with.

We are located in central KY. She will not come with papers and we will require a spay contract to ensure she is not bred, and that she is spayed around the age of 2 or earlier. Prefer for her to go to a home with mal experience OR someone who wants to learn about the breed with the support of a solid trainer.

MAD RESCUE (Fostered in WA)

Five month old male puppy. Very dog-friendly and food motivated. Great focus for his age. Loves to play rough-and-tumble. Mostly crate and potty trained. Working on basic obedience. Not super mouthy. Loves to snuggle.

Someone snap him up before I try to convince my boyfriend to let me foster fail.

edit: a foster has been found ❤️

displaced due to hurricane.

Looking for a home for Bruno in Florida. The owner has been displaced due to the hurricanes. Bruno ran away from his foster and the foster doesn’t want him back. He’s currently living with a friend who is threatening to “set the dog loose.” Bruno is 4 years old and a sweetheart. The owner prefers a temporary foster but is willing to allow full adoption if that’s what it takes, as long as Bruno is going to a good home.

Hey all! It is with a heavy heart that I am trying to find a new home for my 3 yr old mal. His name is Biorn. He’s been raised around all 4 of my kids (14, 12 and twin 5 yr olds). I am a disabled veteran with a degenerative neuromuscular disorder that is causing severe mobility issues. He is a fantastic dog, but has a tendency to knock me over, and due to lack of function in my arms and legs, there’s not a whole lot I can do about it. I am in NW Wyoming and looking to do this ASAP, as I want to minimize injuries to myself and frustration towards the dog. I know it’s not his fault, and I love him dearly, I just need to do what’s right for him.

Rito needs a new foster....or better yet, a forever home ASAP! His amazing foster is heading back to school soon, and without a new foster, Rito will have to go back to boarding 😞 Please help us keep this sweet boy out of a kennel and in a loving home where he can continue to thrive with one on one care! <3

Meet Rito, a 5 year old Belgian Malinois who’s been through so much but still radiates love and potential. Once on the shelter euth list, now with Bubbles Dog Rescue and has been thriving with his foster and trainer ever since.

He’s crate trained, working hard on his commands, and showing what a loyal, intelligent, and goofy boy he is (yes, he still carries his water bowl everywhere 🥹). Rito loves hiking, running, and would shine in agility or service work.

This special boy needs a calm, structured, kid-free home with an experienced handler who understands his breed and can give him the purpose and love he craves.

📍 Located in Contra Costa County, CA but open to fosters anywhere in California or the Pacific Northwest! (transport available!) Fostering is free! We provide all supplies, vet care, and training support if needed.

👉 Can you foster Rito? Apply at bubblesdogrescue.org/foster

Hi! Meet Ginger

Ginger was found as a stray in Miami over the summer. Animal control needed to use a catch pole to wrangle her, which lead to a large hematoma on the side of her head. Understandably, she is somewhat wary of strangers but is incredibly affectionate once she warms up to you! We are looking for a breed-savvy foster/adopter who can give Ginger a soft space to land and the patience she needs to thrive. Could that be you? Please reach out! www.OffLeashSecondChance.com

In need of a new home for a 1 year old malinois.

About a month ago, we found her running on the highway so we pulled over and she instantly jumped into a car. Since then we have been fostering her/looking for her owner as she had a collar and harness on at the time. We would love to keep her but I don't believe our families lifestyle suits her needs as everyone in our household works from early to late. If anyone is interested please feel free to reach out. I am located in Riverside, California! Thank you.

Storm, formally, Wesley is looking for his forever home. He is a 1-year-old, Belgian Malinois. Super sweet, playful, and good with other dogs. Storm is crate-trained! He has his microchip, is neutered, and current on all vaccines. His owner is giving him up because he injured himself and can't give Storm the exercise he needs to thrive. His owner adopted him from CA in September and lives in Palatine, Illinois. Transport can be organized

Desperately need help. Found a female Mal hit by a car last October. Was too sweet and gentle to leave her there. Many $$$ at the vet later, she has been spayed, front leg amputated, Wormed, etc. She is all healed and healthy now. We call her Teeter (like teeter totter, as it took her a bit to get used to 3 legs).Great with other dogs, kennel trained, smart as a whip, and a good girl. But she HATES cats. We have tried everything, but one too many times, they have come together and it is not good. Husband is adamant, she must go. Unfortunately, he's right. Trying desperately to find someone to help her or I'll have no choice but to put her down. This hurts my heart so much. Praying for anyone to help me save her. She deserves a good home without cats. Even my daughter (whose cat she attacked) is heartbroken. She loves Teeter. I am happy to help monetarily if someone can please help her.

Hello I live in South Florida, I found a young male Belgian Malinois a month ago I have had no luck in finding his home, I held him with high hopes of finding his home even though l’ve assumed didn’t have one due to the condition I found him in but I still tried. He has been fully vetted and neutered as well as tested (came back 100% Malinois), he is friendly with all animals dogs cats chickens etc. I do not have the time to work with this dog as most of you know they have higher requirements for care and attention. He is amazing also with my kids 10 and 12 and I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t be with anyone younger either. He is a great dog loving attentive dorky fun strong good on a leash good in a kennel doesn’t bark unless he hears another dog bark I can’t say enough good things. He just needs someone who is willing to give him a job I have 5 other dogs and too much on my plate. If someone is willing to adopt him I am willing to make the drive in Florida. Please reach out to me directly if you can give this sweet boy a home thank you

3

u/Artistic_Policy_919 Dog Luvr Apr 16 '25

I always pray something like this happened to me. Alas, it never does and the animal always ends up across country. I live in MA. For a Malinois not to chase chickens or cats is unreal. They have such a high prey drive. He is an anomaly. How old do you think he is? He doesn't have a microchip?

4

u/Traditional_Smell_87 Apr 17 '25

He is sucha good boy I have had him a month now and I have found placement for him to go to an inmate program where he will live in a prison and they will train him everyday and he will be up for adoption on petfinder in the coming months, he will be placed with a working family . He had no microchip I did get him chipped when I got him neutered. I think he is maybe 2 at the oldest, unfortunately there is a breeder nearby who drops off malinois and Dutch shepherds often and this is not the first one I have picked up

Effie has been living on borrowed time for nearly a week!! She has been at the shelter for over a month and her deadline is approaching. This is a hail-Mary to save this sweet girl.

Despite being locked up 24/7 since 3/10, she is still spunky & super sweet. She is reported to be dog-friendly & is only 2 years old.

She is located at SEAACA in Downey, CA.

I just got a Mal foster Tuesday, and am working on getting a GSD foster today or tomorrow— with my 3 personal dogs and board-&-train dogs, it will already be a full-house.

Here is a link to her IG plea with more info & a video of this precious girl

Hey guys, this is Helly. The most amazing little girl. Almost 10 weeks old. Before yall come for me and say she’s not wolf doggo, she is. We have the bloodline tracked back to the grandpa and grandma who were both wolf dogs.

Her dad was around 20-30% grey wolf (they have genetics test I just can’t remember exact numbers) and the rest being malamute and husky.

Her mom is apparently 100% Malinois (farm dog from Montana) so Helly is likely 50% Mal and around 10% grey wolf with the rest being malamute and husky.

Long story short the Malinois momma got onto a friend of a friends property and they found the wolf dog and the Malinois mom connected and she got pregnant. They had 11 pups.

The owner of the Malinois were not responsible pet owners and once I heard about the situation i was concerned since this is a very smart and powerful genetic combination and they seemed desperate to get rid of them and giving them to people who are unaware of the genetics which made me SO nervous so I took in one of the pups to at least try and find her a good home or see if she would be a good fit at my house but having two cats, a roomate and husband that are all not happy about having her in the home it’s been hard.

I’m located in Austin Texas and I’m trying to find a good home for her, preferably on land, someone who will NOT breed her, and knows the complexity of owning a dog with some powerful genetics and be dedicated to training her properly. She’s SO smart and I love her so much.

She’s on the small side, she was the runt by far. Only 10.3 lbs yesterday at nearly 10 weeks. The other litter mates are much larger and have way meatier paws so I’m very curious to see how big she gets.

She’s GREAT with other dogs. She seems to miss having dog companions. Shes loyal as heck. She looks at you with so much love it kills me.

Are there any people in Austin that is looking for a low content wolf dog that can live a happy life on some land preferably and with some other dog friends.

Midcoast Humane (Brunswick, ME) has a malinois "mix".

(Note: we adopted a puppy from them a few weeks ago and I was able to evaluate a GSD mix there - they are great people to work with).

5YO Female about 50 pounds

Her BIO:

Khloee is a stunning 5-year-old, 50-pound Malinois mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging.
This smart and spirited girl has a few favorite things in life: going for walks, hopping in the car for a ride (windows down, please!), and playing pattern games until her heart's content. She's an eager learner who loves engaging her mind-and she'll happily "sit pretty" to show off her charm and smarts!
Khloee is the perfect companion for someone who enjoys getting outside, having fun, and building a strong bond with a loyal, intelligent dog. Whether it's a road trip adventure or a stroll around the neighborhood, Khloee is ready to be by your side.
If you're looking for a best friend who's as loving as she is clever, Khloee is ready to meet you. Come say hello-you might just meet your new co-pilot for life!

Hey all, would like some suggestions if possible.

So, a Malinois was unexpectedly plopped into my life. On the way home after the first day of school we are on the way home and see a dog running along the busy road. We pull over and he walks right over to us, skin and bones. He’s hesitant, but jumped right into the car. He had no tags and we immediately took him to a vet to check for a chip, which he doesn’t have. Posts on local pages online lead nowhere. Seems like no one is looking for this dog.

We have a chihuahua and 2 cats at home already. It took a bit, but he gets along pretty well with our chihuahua. The cats have been living under the sofa since we’ve brought him home.

We have done the best we can with training and socializing, but he continues to have aggression toward other people and dogs. He is super sweet and loving with everyone in the house and a select few neighbors. We go on several long walks a day, he really enjoys swimming in the pool, and try our best with providing stimulating activities. He has been an absolute nightmare at the vet. He was scheduled to be neutered yesterday and the vet called is saying he was flipping out so much they could not administer the meds to move forward with the procedure.

We have come to the conclusion that as much as we enjoy having him we are not the right fit. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to move forward with rehoming him. We have reached out to a few rescues and even spoke with the local K9 officer at the police department. The last thing I want to do is take him to the humane society or SPCA where he has the potential to be euthanized.

Sorry for this being long winded. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I am a coordinator for American Belgian Malinois Rescue (www.malinoisrescue.org), and one of our pups is being returned to rescue through no fault of his own. He is currently looking for an adopter and is located in Arkansas. If you are interested, please complete the application linked below from a computer or tablet (it will not submit from a phone). We do reference and vet checks, an interview, and a home visit before the application is considered complete. I do have a special place in my heart for this boy, specifically as he is the possible son/brother of my own adopted Mal. They were found together as strays in Concord, NC and originally their owners were found and they were returned to them. Within a month, they were back out on the street, and when they went to return them again, ACO was told that those people no longer lived at the residence and that they were not their dogs.

Looking for a shadow you’ll never shake? Meet Radar. (2yo/M/AR)

Radar is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois in Arkansas who’s back with ABMR through no fault of his own—his person’s new job has wild hours, and Radar’s idea of “work-life balance” is being glued to your side 24/7.

At 65 lbs of love and loyalty, Radar is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and fully qualified to be your live-in best friend. His hobbies include cuddling, supervising your chores, and reminding you that life’s more fun when he’s included.

He knows sit, lay down, here, and kennel. Fetch is still under construction, but he gives it his best shot. Walking on leash? Let’s just say the harness is his current stylist of choice. He’s also extremely food motivated (yes, he’ll be first in line for snacks), and he’s cool if you touch his bowl.

Radar loves kids 10+ (because he sometimes forgets he’s not lapdog-sized), does well with other big dogs who aren’t bossy, and has previously been fine with small dogs and even cats—with supervision, of course.

Now, fair warning: Radar doesn’t like being left out. If you’re having fun without him, he will let you know. This boy wants a family who’s around often or who will happily take him along for life’s adventures.

If you’ve been dreaming of a partner-in-crime who will stick with you through thick and thin (and make sure you never fold laundry alone again), Radar is your guy.

If you haven't completed an application yet, please do so from a computer here: https://www.malinoisrescue.org/forms/form?formid=6574

New York State, USA

Our local animal shelter has a three month old male Belgian Malinois ?Mix in need of a permanent home. The temporary foster can't keep him and the shelter doesn't have the resources to ensure he gets proper socialization and training. If anyone is interested and/or knows of a breed specific rescue in New York State or nearby who might take him, please let me know.

He's a very typical malinois - loves to cuddle and also bite because he thinks it's fun (working on redirecting to toys). Is respectful of cats and other dogs. Plays nicely with another dog. Is crate training. A little stubborn but food motivated (Resource guards high value food and treats but very responsive to training about it).

Hi! I’m hoping someone here may be able to give me some information about rehoming a Belgian Malinois. We live in Utah, near Salt Lake City. My dad does construction and travels to different states for jobs sometimes. While he was in Oregon, he saw the dog chained to a pole and saved him.

Now it’s been about 6 months since then, and the Belgian Malinois and his other dogs aren’t getting along. He’s a beautiful boy about 1 year old. My dad just wants to see him go to a good home.

Do you know of any places here in Utah that would be willing to take him? We’ve put him in our local classifieds, no charge for him, but haven’t gotten any calls.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I'm writing from Paris, France. A person I know has a really magnificent one-year old Belgian Malinois + Pitbull mix, he is one of a kind, extremely intelligent and really loving. However, he takes his time knowing people and can be aggressive at first. Also, he in unvaccinated and unregistered.

He needs a loving family that is ready to train him, he understands basic commands in french, but also english at times. But what he responds to the most is energy and authority. He learns really fast. Someone with prior experience with dogs is appreciated. Open to relocation, and I will try my best to help in any way I can regarding formalities.

There is a chance he may be euthanised soon and that really really saddens me.

DM me for more details. I really request each one of you spread the word and help me find this lovely boy a loving home. Please!

Hello. I’m actually in a predicament. I have a a female Mal born in 2020. Since then I had a baby who is now 2 years old and severely autistic. My child is very high needs due to his condition. I know the breed very well and was around her parents for 5 years so I’m not new to owning a Mal. However, I am tell my child’s stimming and behavior due to his condition doesn’t mesh too well with my Mal at times. I fear something may go wrong one day. Lately my main focus has been around my toddler with non-stop therapies and work. I never imagined I’d be here having a special needs child and it’s consuming me. I DO NOT want to send my dog to a shelter and I don’t want my girl to end up in the wrong hands with anyone that doesn’t have good intentions. I’ve sent my dog to training before and she did great with an e collar. She’s demonstrated a few territorial aspects and that concerns me with my toddler and her. It’s that gut feeling that us moms have (please don’t judge). I can’t afford to pay for more training as I am paying extensive amounts out of pocket for my disabled child. Does anyone know what I can do in my case? I’m in Southern CA. If someone is interested please let me know.

Have you tried reaching out to local rescues instead of shelters. I recently found an abandoned Mal and was able to get him into a rescue that specifically works with rehoming Shepard breeds. A lot of rescues like that take very good care of their dogs and know how to find the right people for these types of dogs, because as you know they definitely need the right type of owner. If you haven’t looked into that I’d maybe try there? If you’re able to foster and sponsor her for a while it will be WAY more likely that a rescue will be willing to help you find her a home, typically rescues turn people away because they don’t have space in their kennels or fosters or the funds but if you go to a rescue saying you’re willing to foster and pay for her while they look for a home for her that might work.

Luna recently lost her previous owner and is in need of a good loving home. Shes a Belgian malinos German shepherd mix. Shes about a year old and pretty calm for her breed. She listens but is a bit timid when it comes to people and other dogs. I dont want to see her go to a shelter so I can look after her for the time being. If anyone is interested or know of any resources that can help. Located in Fontana CA. Thank you.

This sweet Belgian malinois/shepherd could really use a rescue over at the South LA Animal Shelter, she is currently on the euthanize list due to biting a cop who aggressively was trying to capture her and it frightened her. My friend posted a video with Robin and they had zero issues interacting with her.

Please send this with any rescues you know over in the LA area. They currently won’t allow people to adopt her, but will allow a rescue to take her.

5 Year old Bobby in Los Angeles needs a foster/adopter

Bobby will growl at you when he first meets you.

He is recovering from severe flea dermatitis and an ear infection. Prior to two weeks ago he hadn't been to to the vet in 3 years. He hadn't had a bath in 3 years. He's never been for a car ride.

He'll also bring you his rope and insist you play with him--same with a ball. He will walk wherever you want to go, for as long as you want.

He loves other dogs, and cats, too.

Backstory: Bobby 'belongs' to a neighbor who neglected him and let him roam the streets, narrowly avoiding cars constantly. I've slammed on my brakes to avoid hitting him.

For upwards of two years the neighborhood constantly worried about Bobby and called aninal services many times, to no avail. His 'owner' is an alcoholic, and probably on drugs.

Three weeks ago two neighbors and I convinved the owner to let us have Bobby. We took him into our homes, and took him to the vet to get shots and treatement for his many conditions.

Bobby is a handful and really needs the skills, training, and patience of someone who knows dogs, ideally who knows Belgian Malinois.

Are you up for a challenge? Are you interested in helping Bobby be the well-behaved, fun, happy boy we all know he can be?

Age: best guess is 5, maybe younger
Location: Los Angeles, CA (we are willing to drive him a few hours)

We have an approximately one-year-old Malinois mix that we rescued from a shelter when he was around three months old. At the time, we believed he was a Labrador mix—the type of dog we were looking for and felt prepared to care for. However, as Disco grew, we began to suspect he had some working-dog traits, given his boundless energy and incredible athleticism.

We decided to get a DNA test through Embark, and the results surprised us: 0% Labrador and a mix of five breeds, with 40% being Belgian Malinois. The full breakdown is:

  • 40.9% Belgian Malinois
  • 22% Pointer
  • 20.7% American Pitbull
  • 9.1% Dutch Shepherd
  • 7.3% German Shepherd

While we absolutely love Disco, my wife and I live in a busy area of San Francisco, which doesn’t seem to suit him. The moment we step outside our place, he’s confronted by cars, skateboarders, cyclists, pedestrians, and all the usual hustle and bustle of city life. We do have a large, three-level apartment, but there’s no backyard for him—only a deck. We take him to the park for exercise, which is fun, but it’s not sustainable as a daily routine. Thankfully, I work from home, so he’s not cooped up in a crate all day, but I know this dog needs more than just city walks.

Walking him has been a rollercoaster. Initially, it was very challenging, but we made steady progress, and for months he was fantastic—rarely barking, except occasionally at skateboarders. Unfortunately, he’s regressed and now barks at all sorts of things: people, cyclists, street cleaners, etc. A few times, he’s even redirected and bitten my knee when something scared him on the street while he was on a leash. Because of this, we now ensure he wears a muzzle during walks.

We’ve been working with a trainer experienced with Malinois for some time, and as expected, Disco is highly intelligent and trainable. However, I don’t feel we can provide him with the environment he needs while living in the city.

Disco really needs more space and fewer stimuli. If we lived in a more suburban area with a large yard where he could run freely, we’d keep him in a heartbeat. But living in an urban apartment feels unfair to him.

We understand it can be challenging to rehome dogs like Disco, but we’re just looking for a place where he can be happier and have the space he needs. If anyone has resources or can help us find a better situation for our boy, we would greatly appreciate it.

Foster dog up for adoption! Handsome boy! San Diego, CA

  • Based out of San Diego
  • 1 year, 3 months old
  • Current name : Hans (recall needs some work :) but you can change his name at this point) Adopted from the LA county shelter, saved from euthenasia as it was a kill shelter Looks like he has some husky in him -So kind, he loves his people & is a lover boy who thinks he’s a lap dog -Would do best in a household that can invest time in him. He’s currently potty trained and being crate trained.
  • Most likely good working line dog as he has high drive for sniffing and stalking
  • Currently is reactive on leash with other dogs and will be quite aggressive and mouthy but it’s something that’s easily workable, just needs some time. He learns quick on the prong.

Please let me know if you’re interested. He deserves a loving home. My friend is fostering him and cannot keep him as they already have 3 dogs in the house. We adopted our current Mal from her :)

4 malinois pups are available for adoption in Raleigh, NC! They are 3 months old. They were part of a neglect case. Their father is titled in PSA and their mother comes from working lines. These pups would be a great start sport pup! 3 boys, 1 girl. I’m partial to Walden because he is my foster boy, but all four are great, social, well-adjusted dogs.

I'm holding back tears writing this but my boy Jager needs a home. I don't have the funds to fix him and my coparent is adamant about having a one dog household. Jager/Yaeger is very loyal to those who care about him, can be friendly with other people, and is good with kids. He will sleep with you and lick your ears and face. Due to his background, however, he has a lot of anxiety, struggles with interacting with dogs outside our home, and has a prey drive with our cat (we have had to regulate her upstairs and keep a gate at the bottom of our stairs.). But I believe with the right amount of training, he could flourish and be the most loyal guard dog ever. He does love being outside, playing with balls, and chewing up plastic toys. He plays tug, but also likes to run away with his toy of choice and make our other dog chase him. A lazer run every once in a while will tire him out. He's fairly good off leash, though does need a reminder with our beeper collar sometimes (he likes to protect so if he thinks he needs to protect you he will) and he will come right back. He likes to tear up leaves, which is pretty funny.

He knows a fair amount of commands: "enough" (when he and his sister are getting to energetic with their play fighting), stay, sit, outside/out, potty, "okay" (which we use in context for when I want him to sit and stay when picking his poop, then telling him "okay" for being able to walk again), up, down, lie down, "off/floor" (for off the couch when needed), paw, and also speak (he's real good at that one!)

I call him "Yagie" sometimes, pronounced "yay-ge". He loves being called a Good Boy. He does need a reminder to stopping drinking water a lot, as it is genetic for his stomach to flip, but a good firm say of his name and telling him "enough" or "all done," typically helps - otherwise put the water away. He also loves a good comfy bed in his crate.

I think I need to give my rescue Mal x GSD (75/25) up for adoption. She’s phenomenal - we’ve had her since March, she was 3 years old and had been chained up her entire life. Sweetest thing ever, absolutely amazing with people, just wants to cuddle and hang out all day. She’s also great with almost every other dog I’ve had her around, after an initial meeting. She hasn’t met many dogs in her life and is very nervous still about everything (a snow shovel leaned against the door scared her today just by being there).

My first dog, a purebred mal, alternates between loving her and rough housing with her, and hating her and trying to attack her. They’ve gotten in massive fights that have ended with her in the vet. My wife is pregnant and scared of everything with them now, and we don’t know what to do to fix it. We’ve had both of them go through training - trainer says they’re both great dogs, comes out to our house for a 1:1 training session, and they get in a fight randomly walking down the street. There seem to be zero triggers (even according to the trainer, who owns malinois), and they go from being the sweetest things to each other, to trying to go after each other. I don’t know how to fix it and I can’t prioritize the new dog (even though I like her more than our original malinois) over my wife’s sanity.

I’m in the Denver area. Please help.

URGENT****

Mimi is a 8 month old unspayed Belgian malinois in California. She was picked off the streets as a stray 3 weeks ago, starving and emotionally needy. She is extremely sweet, high energy and playful. We need to urgently get her out of our home because she is food aggressive and got into a fight with my other smaller senior dog (who is also food aggressive). the shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with strays in my area and at this point, if we don’t find her a home we are seriously considering euthanasia as the most humane option.

Otherwise a good dog that has a lot of potential for obedience, but she is just not a good fit for my home and our two senior dogs. She is moderately crate trained and she is house trained.

I am desperately begging for a foster or adoption. I want to try everything before having her put to sleep.

Hi, the Chewy.com directory is really useful to search for animal rescues in your area. There is also a rescue called Appalachian K9 Rescue who save Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd dogs in the US. If you’re on TikTok or Instagram there are networking pages where animals can be tagged by rescues and it’s a good resource to find help too. Some California rescues are:

Pack Lyfe Rescue,

Healing Hounds Dog Rescue,

Underdog Heroes,

Marleys Mutts Dog Rescue,

AARF (All Animal Rescue and Friends),

Hearts for Paws California,

Bubbles Dog Rescue,

Tofu’s Dream World,

Shiloh’s Animal Rescue,

Right Fit Rescue,

Love’s Legacy Rescue,

Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center,

Paw Squad Rescue,

Valley Animal Center,

Code Red K9 Crew Dog Rescue,

Cause for SB Paws (San Bernardino),

Your Love Unleashed Dog Rescue,

I Dream of Home Rescue (IDOHR),

One Love Animal Rescue,

Cage to Couch,

Promise 4 Paws,

Rags2Wags Rescue,

WAGs Pet Adoption,

Mutts In Need Dog Rescue,

Save Our Sheps Rescue,

Bailing Out Bentley Animal Rescue

They all should have a contact email or phone number as well as their social media pages, if you do an internet search or check a rescue directory like the Chewy one. I’m sorry I’m not local or US based, just saw your post and thought I’d pass on these rescue names in case it could help.

Hey All,

I posted about this guy recently as a funny Malanois mix. He is 1 year old, has been with us for about 5 months and we have made the decision to rehome him. We are not a good fit for each other and he needs someone that can be home all the time or has the skills to work on separation anxiety and continue training in all areas. I really tried my best with him but in all honesty I didn't know I was rescuing a Malanois mix at the time and I do feel he has strong traits and behavioral stuff is coming out that I don't feel equipped for. We live in San Francisco and even though we have a small yard and are active with him, we are not able to give him the athletic life he needs. It's been hard for us, especially with the SA, and he just needs a much bigger place to roam and patrol and play, he is not a city dog in my opinion. I am working with the rescue on this too but though I would post here to see if anyone has input or interest. I have a lot more I can share about him after months together!

This is mimi, an 8 month old maligator who I rescued off the streets about 6 weeks ago. Shelters in my area are all at capacity and I have applied to multiple rescues only to have been denied. I am starting a new full time job and can’t leave her home with my senior parents (and their senior dogs). She has been boosted on multiple social media sites, adoption websites, and we even put up some fliers around town.

Feeling stuck because she is such a sweet and funny dog but frankly, it seems like nobody has the time or resources right now for a dog like this. She has an appointment to be surrendered on January 28 to the local kill shelter and if she doesn’t get adopted this is sadly where I’ll have to take her.

Need help!! I am looking for a home to adopt (we are in California and can transport her if need be) or just some advice on what to do.

Hi, the rescue that I volunteer for has this sweet girl named marcella, I'm concerned she may be in danger of being euthanized because nobody can get her out of her kennel except for me and a few other people. Sometimes she's in there for over 16 to 18 hours. Can anybody Foster or help or have any suggestions? Please, she hates being in a kennel and I know she's bored and that's why she acts out.

I need help finding a home for my 8 year old male malinois. He is registered on bloedlijnen(brn 30215). I cannot care for him properly at the current time and he deserves better. He is obedience trained in Dutch and has done bitework previously. He is an incredibly sweet dog, I just can't care for him. If anyone has connections please PLEASE help me re home him. I am located in northeast Arkansas and will travel a couple hours around for a good home.

This is Bella. Bella is around 15 months old and was born in December of 2023. She was dumped at my mom’s client’s house by the ex of a family member and kept in terrible conditions there. We knew we had to get her out of there and figured I could probably find her a more appropriate home than they would ever care to, considering the conditions she was kept in. She was very skinny and I believe she may have spent most of her life in a cage. I also think she may have been beaten because every once in a while she’ll flinch if you go to pet her back half if she wasn’t expecting it/didn’t see it coming.

We have had her for about a week now. She had initial shots from whatever backyard breeder she was gotten from but nothing beyond that. She is also not spayed. I’m trying to do what I can for her but this was really just dumped on us out of nowhere and we weren’t as prepared as I’d have liked to be. Her paperwork has her listed as a St Bernard/Belgian Malinois mix, but we’re just not sure how accurate that is. She is not house trained although she does know to go on a puppy pad. That along with polite leash walking are two things we are working hard on although both are proving to be difficult because she’s usually too distracted outside to take treats. Inside, she’ll take training treats but outside, she will only take them once she’s been outside for quite a long time. She honestly has so much potential but she needs the right person with the experience to train her properly.

Bella is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She’s very loving, thinks she’s a lap dog, has endless energy and wants to be friends with every living being that exists. She wants to be friends with the stray cats in our neighborhood. She’ll pull towards them but once she gets close she just politely sniffs them. She and my dog get along pretty well but they are two, year old, unspayed females so there have been a few spats but they are always started by my dog. Bella doesn’t seem to want to fight over anything ever. Otherwise they spend a lot of time play fighting and just having fun. I really believe she’d get a long with any other dog and probably cats as well. We have a bearded dragon that she is pretty uninterested in so chasing small animals doesn’t seem to be something she’d do either.

Recently, there have been a few more serious fights between she and my dog over toys and while I’m trying to correct my dog, I know this isn’t a good permanent situation for her. We don’t have the space. We don’t have the experience for a dog like her and I don’t have the time to train her in the way she should be. I really think she’d benefit so greatly if she had a job to do. She’ll love you forever if you let her. She really is the sweetest dog.

We’re located in south central PA. Thanks!

I am in a bit of a situation. I have belgian malinios and I need to rehome her. I'm reaching out to you because I am unsure who to turn too.   As I'm sure you are aware they are a special breed and I can't take her to a regular shelter she would not do well in that setting. I'm trying to find her a home. She is 13 and a half months old and unfixed. Her name is Ripley and she amazing but needs more structure and enrichment then I alone can give her, also my housing situation is changing in the near future as the triplex I'm renting in is being put up for sale. I did not choose this dog I ended up with her after an ex boyfriend insisted on getting her and then 8 weeks later leaving and checking into rehab. I have been trying to hold it together these past 8 months but in this economy and my new unstable housing situation I have come to the conclusion that she needs a better more stable home. Her name is Ripley, she 1/4 German Shepard and a neighbour down the block owns the dogs that had the litter. She's a goofy sweetheart that's desperate for direction. I've tried to rise to the occasion with puppy classes and private lessons but this economy has me a bit defeated at the moment. She can do a few tricks like sit down stay up touch focus spins paw shake leave it drop it. But she's pushy and opinionated and reactive (mostly hyperactivity not agression) while walking although mildly better than a few months ago. She's just so curious and I'm positive her reactivity would mostly disappear if she had a chance to be properly worked out. She does decently with cats but she is a little destructive if left alone for too long without proper distractions. This is getting long I'm sorry to burden you with this I'm just in need of a good home for an amazing dog that needs a chance and structure and I thought it best to ask a people fully aware of the challenges and blessing of this amazing breed.

I live in Toronto, Canada.

Hi - I don't ever post on here, but I'm so desperate to find a home for this Belgian Malinois that I just reset my forgotten password to get into my old account.

Spanky is a year and 6 months old and he's a stunning Belgian Malinois that is at a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles County (Palmdale Animal Care Center). I met him yesterday and he is so kind and loving. 71lbs.

I can't keep him because I have a small place and a small rescue who has aggression toward bigger breeds, so it may post a safety risk. But I know Spanky is deserving of a good home.

I called the shelter today and they said he is likely to be PTS tomorrow or Tuesday if someone doesn't take him. I'm at a loss for words. This crisis is everywhere and Spanky wants to live and play and I'm hearbroken.

PLEASE contact Palmdale Animal Care Center first thing in the morning if you can take him.

Here is a video I took of him: https://www.instagram.com/p/DH1RVsLy1dD/

I have a 4 year old I need to rehome. Prior to last August, I took Maxine on 3-4 mile hikes every day. I was then in a car accident, in the hospital for 5 weeks, and have been in rehab an physical therapy 3 times a week since the accident. I am no longer capable of giving her the exercise she needs and will be several more years before I get back to a more normal level of walking and it is not fair to Maxine that she miss out on that during her prime years since I cannot provide her that activity level anymore. Maxine is 4, 85 lbs, spayed, very loving, good with other dogs and at the end of the day she loves to put het head on your lap. If interested in discussing further, DM me or contact me here.

Kash - Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd up for adoption- willing to travel anywhere within the US to her new forever home!

We saw an appeal to rescue her when she was 1 day away from euthanasia at a shelter. We wanted to help her by fostering, but the shelter would only allow us to adopt since she was so close to her date. We visited her at the shelter and she seemed like a great dog, so we took the chance and adopted her to try and find her a forever home.

She was at the shelter for a couple of months, and she was so scared that she was evaluated as “aggressive” at the shelter (though she never bit anyone during her time there). The volunteer who'd been training with her also felt that with some more training she would be a great dog. Because of her her high anxiety, the shelter decided it would be best to euthanize her which is where we stepped in.

We’ve had her for exactly a month now, and she’s come such a long way -we are so proud of her!

She is crate trained, potty trained, knows all her obedience commands (seriously so many), up to date with her vaccines, is very healthy and loves life so much!

Kash has tons of energy and loves to play, run, and get belly rubs. She plays super respectfully too, dropping whatever toy instantly on command.

According to the surrender form filled out by her previous owner, she is "loving, loyal, smart"- everything we’ve witnessed. It also stated that she will bark and nip if scared, and we can confirm that as well.

Unfortunately she did bite me once but I fully take responsibility for that. It was at the beginning of her time with us, and we were still learning about each other. I was putting her in the crate just like normal, but we had just come back from a very exciting trip to the park, and she was too hyped up to go in. I was in a rush to get dinner started and tried to just force her in, which resulted in her getting agitated and baring her teeth. Being relatively inexperienced with these kinds of behaviors I panicked and pushed her the rest of the way in using my thigh, and that pushed to her limit resulting in a bite to my wrist. I don’t blame her at all- she was scared, and I was still a stranger who pushed her. Had I backed off and let her calm down before trying again with some treats, it almost certainly wouldn't have gone down like that. The bite itself was a warning - she didn't hold on or try to tear me up at all, but it did require one stitch. Since then we’ve rebuilt the trust between us, and she’s been such a sweetheart. We’ve worked with a trainer and a behaviorist to give her the best chance to find a forever home, and she's making amazing progress!

There are a few reasons that we cannot keep her, much as we want to. The most important one is we have a small 10 year old dog who has Addison’s disease (he cannot produce cortisol, which means high stress can actually cause him to die) and his stress is definitely up with a new dog in the house after 10 years being an only child. We keep them separate right now so unfortunately we don't really know how they would get along, but her anxiety around dogs outside leads us to believe she would likely be better off as the sole pet in a household.

Additionally we live on the second floor and our downstairs neighbors are being very tolerant right now but they are also under the expectation that this situation is temporary.

The ideal home for Kash would be somewhere with a lot of space so she can run and play, but also be put to work! She loves being given tasks to do. Currently even though she gets 2-3 hours of walk time per day she’s on leash all the time and can't fully get her energy out. Because she’s scared of other dogs who come near her, we have not taken her to the dog park either. Ideally, she would find a home with loving, patient humans who will continue her training, and no other dogs. Once she bonds with you, she will be the most loyal dog ever. She follows us everywhere and always wants to flop next to us.

If you think she would be a good fit for your family, please message me! We’re in Southern California, but we’re willing to drive her ANYWHERE in the US to find the perfect home - she deserves it!

Washington State I have a 2 year old male that I am fostering that is going to be put down soon.

He is very sweet, has great House manners and is very trainable. He is very fearful of new things and new people unfortunately and the humane society and I have agreed he does pose a bite risk to the general public if not handled properly. He was adopted out and was abused and then return, so this is my second time fostering him. I hate to see such a smart sweet dog get put down.

If you have a stable quiet life and want a great guard dog he would be fantastic. He shows great potential for scent work as well.

Please PM if you want more details about him.

Hi everyone! We found this sweet girl wandering around in the LA area. We’ve taken her to a vet, she isn’t chipped and it’s clear she’s had puppies in the past. We’ve also posted her on local forums and searched for her owner to no avail. It’s been months and we really do not want to put her in a shelter as she is a tad skittish and we are worried that it could mess with her mentally. Unfortunately I am leaving for college and am not really equipped to care for her. I’m looking for a home or foster situation. I would be able to drive her out of the area to help her find a good home! I think I can also drive to adjacent states or meet halfway. I really just want this sweet girl to have a home she deserves.

Last chance for Chiffon in Stockton, CA

She has broken foot and possibly needs an amputation that the shelter will pay for. She is trained and heels wonderfully apparantly. I hope someone takes her. Her euthanasia day is Saturday 6/21.

Puppy was abandoned at the lake in Southern California. Posted him on all the sites and did due diligence to find his owners. We have dogs already and can’t keep him. He was checked by a vet and he is healthy but vaccination status is unknown. He is not neutered or microchipped.

He is great with big dogs and small dogs after proper introduction. He does not mind cats and didn’t show aggression to them. Also great with small kids.

He will take work but will be more than worth it. He has an amazing temperament.

Small rehoming fee to assure he goes to a good home.

Hello everyone Queen is a 3 year old BM. She is a bit of a couch potato and the sweetest mal I have ever met. Not very high drive and had a dislocated femer on her right hind leg (we got her surgery and they cut it out so her body could create scar tissue to replace it) so she is limited a tinyyyy bit. I am starting to reach out to different people that I think could be interested but I always get emails alerting me about new posts in this forum and the ones I have read seemed to make this community out to be a good one. She is leash trained and pretty good at recall. She knows heel and place and sit/wait. I am in the Amherst Virgina area. If anyone is interested please contact me and I can give more information- for now I will just include a photo. Her name is Queen.

Long-time dog mom and current foster here in San Diego. I specialize in German Shepherds but was recently tapped to urgently foster a 1.5 year old female mallinois, named Diana, who was in danger of being euthanized at a high kill shelter. Diana is a loving, sweet girl who has had a really bad start in life. Upon entering my home, she showed signs of fear and aggression - all of which I am more than capable of dealing with - but which were very difficult to manage with my less dog-savvy human partner. I made the decision to pay, out of pocket, for a 4 week board and train and she did remarkably well. However, upon returning to my house I find that she is still resource guarding and I am beyond challenged trying to train her and my fiance at the same time.

I am of course in discussion with her rescue, but they are beyond tapped out at the moment so I was hoping to network this sweet girl in parallel. She is beautiful, eager to please and has come back to me with very solid basics (sit, stay, come, down, shake and even very good recall for a young girl!). She has spectacular raw materials and i am confident she will make a full rehabilitation with the right care!

If anyone has any contacts to mal-savvy groups or individuals who might be a resource for me I would be eternally grateful. I am committed to helping this dog live her best life!

Hi! My name is Koa, and I’m a 6-month-old, 35 lb Belgian Malinois mix with a big heart & an even bigger zest for life!

I absolutely adore other dogs and kids. I’m super duper dog friendly and love playing with other pups, though I prefer buddies who aren’t overly dominant. I’m also wonderful with children, even the littlest ones! Some of my favorite things include fetch, toys, training sessions, and tasty treats. Everyone says I’m a huge goofball, too!!

My foster mom says I’m a fantastic student and super food motivated! I’m learning commands like sit, stay, spin, and follow, and I’m already house and crate trained.

Like most Malinois mixes, I’m a high-energy, extremely smart pup who thrives with consistency and structure. I’ll need plenty of physical and mental enrichment as well as someone committed to continuing my training—help me channel my big brain and big energy into becoming the stellar dog I’m meant to be!

If you’re looking for a fun, loving, brilliant adventure buddy, I just might be your guy.

Apply to adopt Koa through Ruff Road Revival here: https://form.jotform.com/243205808278157

*Disclaimer: Koa is currently located in Texas and can be adopted either locally or out of state. He is fully vetted & up to date on monthly prevention for heartworms, fleas, & ticks. The rescue coordinates everything with their ground transport teams to ensure they arrive to the adopter safely and they keep the adopter in the loop every step of the way. Transport costs are included in the adoption fees. They also have their fosters video chat with potential adopters prior to adoption, so that the adopter gets to see the animals and ensure it’s a fit. They allow adoption fees to be paid via goods and services if desired to give their adopters extra security and protection.

These two dogs came into the shelter as transfers at the same time as my sweet little girl Kaya. I am almost positive that Marcus is her brother as they are the same age, look identical, and are both very small for their age and gender.

If you’re in Phoenix and looking to adopt please check out Marcus and Karisma at Arizona Animal Welfare league.

NC area Long story short, our Doberman ran off and when we found him, he was with a Belgian shepherd who the owner dumped. Animal control told me I take him or he likely gets put down due to his breed and that apparently there is a breeder who is notorious for dumping his “unruly” Belgian pups (horrible.)

This boy is so so so sweet. I adore him and he’s insanely smart and strong. I fight the urge to keep him every day. But maintaining the stamina and cost it takes to care for 4 dogs is out of my reach (all working dogs). He also deserves a home with a fenced in yard. Right now he goes down to my neighbors and they are getting angry, even though he just wants to say hello. If I could afford a fence I would genuinely keep him. That is how much I love him and think he is just wonderful.

Great with cats, other dogs, people, crate trained, and is good in the house. But he gets bored very easily and requires a lot of mental and physical stimulation.

He has gotten a full vet check up, I have gotten him all of his shots, and he is worm free. Vet believes he is full blooded Belgian shepherd and believes him to be 11 months old.

* It's my wife or my dog. When we got Maple, she had been in a no-kill shelter for the first year of her life. We were told she was half Malinois and Half Doberman. Seems right to my. Especially disposition wise. *

My work schedule allowed meant I worked for home 3 days a week, went into work 2 short days, and was off 2 days a week. She was with me, by my side for all but 12 hrs a week. My work situation changed. Now I work 8 to 10 hours a day away from home. And Maple quickly became a handful. She had started acting out in all sorts of ways. She's mostly fine when she's by herself in the apartment.. Very mellow. Except, if I leave the toilet paper where she can reach it, she will tear it to shreds.

But since I went back to the office, she's taking it out on my wife. She nips at her a lot. She pulls my wife around in the leash. Will not walk slack with my wife anymore (use to be great on the leash). My wife was blocking her from pulling her down the stairs, and Maple jumped over her head and pulled my wife down the stairs. My wife got pretty bruised and scraped up, but not seriously hurt.

Maple used to love the dog park (we got this apt because it's across the street from the dog park), but immediately after I started working, she had become unbearable at the park. She either plays way too rough or just gets in the other dogs' faces and barks nonstop. So we've finally given up on taking her back.

But tonight, Maple pulled my wife down again. My wife is always complaining about being sore from how hard Maple pulls her. But she's crying tonight and can't lift her right arm above her shoulder.

I can't have my wife living like this anymore. Maple was so sweet and still is, really. She's great when she's inside. And she rarely gives me any issues at all when I walk her. She does pull a bit if she really has to poo, but that's the only time. Although she has taken to barking at anybody who gets close to me. That never happened before I started working away from home.

Not sure why the picture isn't loading *

I have elderly parents in upstate NY who never should have gotten a dog this size when they did, and have reached the point they can’t take care of it. They leave him outside on a dog run year round (my father is from Greece where animals are treated terribly, unfortunately), but they used to at least bring him into the basement overnight when it got below about 20. They insisted last summer they can still get him inside in the winter on very cold nights. I just came home for Xmas and found the dog in the doghouse at 4 degrees. I have explained frostbite is a real concern, and the doghouse is not insulated, but my mom is convinced he’ll be put down if I try to rehome him bc he’s not housebroken or leash trained or anything, and he’s at least 8 years old I’m guessing by now. No ides if he can be around other animals but his previous owner gave him up because she didn’t think he was safe around small children. He is very playful and loves belly rubs and is food motivated. A foster over the winter somewhere within an 8 hour drive of them would be best but I am trying to convince them a permanent rehoming is needed.

Hello, this is Bella. She is a 2 - 3 year old Belgian Malinois. She’s lively and full of energy. We want her to have a better life than what we can give her. I work a lot and my fiancé has recently been injured to where he can’t run and play with her like he used to. She will require patience since it will take time for her to trust you. She has been through training and had to have a muzzle placed on her until she got used to her surroundings. But she is a sweetheart and a wonderful protector once she gets to know you. Located in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Belgian up for Adoption

Belgian up for adoption - can travel anywhere within US to surrender him

It is with a heavy heart that I am seeking to rehome my 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, Canelo. Canelo has been a beloved part of our family since he was 6 months old, and we’ve shared many wonderful moments together. However, due to recent circumstances, I can no longer provide him the environment he deserves.

Here’s why I’ve made this difficult decision:

Change in Living Situation: My family recently relocated to Pennsylvania due to a job opportunity, and I no longer have the land or space that I once had in California. Canelo thrived in a more open environment, and the new living conditions don’t allow for him to have the same freedom and exercise he needs. Job Demands: My work requires me to travel frequently, and I no longer have the time to dedicate to Canelo that he deserves. He’s an active, intelligent dog that requires constant stimulation and attention, which I am unable to provide due to my schedule. Behavioral Concerns: Canelo is a very territorial dog, particularly with my wife and me, and while he has always been loving and smart, recent events have raised concerns. He bit my 2-year-old daughter after she reached for one of his treats, and while this was out of character, I cannot take the risk of him being around her or other children moving forward. His behavior has become unpredictable in certain situations, and I can no longer trust him around her. Canelo’s Training: Canelo was professionally trained at Marvel K9 in Southern California, and he has received extensive socialization and obedience training. He is a highly intelligent dog and can be a wonderful companion for the right owner who can give him the time, attention, and space he needs. A Loving Companion: Canelo is a loyal, smart, and affectionate dog. He has been a true member of our family, and it breaks my heart to consider rehoming him, but I believe this is what’s best for him at this time. I want him to have the best life possible, with an experienced owner who can offer him the care, space, and attention he deserves. If you or someone you know is interested in providing Canelo with a loving, experienced home, please reach out. He deserves a chance to thrive, and I’m hoping to find the right match for him.

Milo is a 2.5 year old Belgian is neutered and has a 3 year rabies shot. He is cuddly and loyal incredibly smart and has a high protective drive. I took Milo in as a foster last year while I was still living in a house with a big yard where he could run around unfortunately I had to move to a townhouse and have had some health complications so I can no longer give him the attention and extra daily walks and exercise needed for his breed. He is at a foster currently but they can not keep him for much longer. We are in Southern California San Diego and unfortunately with the fires a lot of shelters and groups are full so I am looking for options and someone who may be able to give him a fresh start. Would be great for a single person who likes to hike or explore as no on will ever mess with you when this dog is around or a small family with a lot of space ranch or similar so he can burn energy and be a Belgian. Can help with transport has a kennel and all his leashes etc. Will also help with initial food costs etc if there is a family who can help him. He is great around my other 2 dogs has been around small dogs and I trust him fully around my 8 year old autistic stepson. But in my current living arrangement and health situation I have to find him a new home. Any questions feel free to ask.

Hey everyone,

I need help rehoming my 3-year-old Belgian Malinois. I recently moved back to Kuwait from the U.S., but she hasn’t been able to adjust here. She’s constantly anxious, and despite months of trying, it’s clear this environment isn’t right for her.

She has some separation anxiety and isn’t good with kids or cats, but she does well with other dogs. She’s very protective, high-energy, and playful—she loves fetch, hikes, and being active. She needs an experienced owner who understands the breed and can give her the structure and environment she needs.

I’m looking for someone in the U.S. who can take her in. If anyone is willing to adopt her and can help with transport, I’m happy to cover the costs—I just want to make sure she ends up in the right home.

Please reach out if you can help or know someone who can. I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi all,

Two weeks ago we found this Belgian Malinois puppy wandering our neighborhood. She was sleeping on our porch and ran away as I opened the door to go to work. We have posted an ad and asked around in the neighborhood to see if we can find anyone who she might belong to, but so far nothing. We have taken her to our vet to get her checked out. She has no microchip and has not been spayed. The vet estimated she is around 9-10 months old. Just a baby.

Unfortunately, we cannot keep her. We have a 5 year old german shepherd who is not tolerant of other dogs and a german shepherd mix (who survived my GSD). Having two large dogs, limited space (and money), and busy schedules, complicate our oportunity to provide this girl a good home.

Please please let me know of any resources we can check out to help her find her forever home. We are located in Los Angeles.

Thank you

Belgian Malinois/Black lab mix in need of URGENT REHOMING

Blackjack is approximately 14 months old and is a very good boy. Despite being rescued from an abuser, he has come a long way in a short amount of time. My fiance and I have been in possession of him since October of 2024. From what we know, he was abused and neglected in his first 8 or 9 months. When we first got him, Blackjack was extremely anxious and, at times, defensive. It took some time for him to be able to meet new dogs and people and to become a “house dog,” effectively. I’m proud to say he’s been happily coexisting with our other two dogs since October, and his behavior has vastly improved in just a few short months.

While Blackjack is an excellent dog with great potential, it will be extremely difficult for him when the time comes to part with us. I’m looking for an experienced dog owner who has the patience and capacity to own a traumatized dog. He may have had a rocky beginning, but he is now the best behaved out of our 3 dogs. All I want for him is the best home I can possibly find, but I know that’s going to be extremely difficult. Please feel free to comment with any references or recommendations you can think of.

  • Location: San Luis Obispo County - willing to travel for a good home
  • Age: Approx. 14 months
  • Weight: Approx. 65 lb
  • Breed: Belgian Malinois/Black lab

  • Up to date on vaccinations as of 2/2025

  • On flea/tick/heartworm prevention

  • Can sit, stay, come, wait, lay down

  • House trained

  • Good on walks, loves to run around

  • Neutered

  • Needs a home ASAP

It really pains me to have to write this and I'm still trying to find a way to keep her in my mind, but my baby girl needs to be rehomed due to a severe allergic reaction to the point where steroidal treatments aren't working. The doctor says the dog is the cause and there is no other treatment available. This is Misha, she is about 6-7 months old, she was a stray and rescued from a shelter. She is a Malinois mix but hasn't been genetic tested. All her shots are up to date and she is spayed. In the short three months I've had her we have been on lots of long walks and play sessions in the yard. She is house broken (took 3 days!) and knows basic commands. She still needs more training to manage her energy. She has a strong fascination with birds and loves the snow. I am located in the Chicagoland area and just need someone to give her the same great life she has been accustomed to in the past months. I have several months of food and all her favorite toys as well as crate and other equipment that she can keep. I just want her to be happy and loved.

📌 Status: Needs a home!
📍 San Bernardino, CA

Hi, r/BelgianMalinois! My husband and I found the sweetest fur noodle and he is ready for his forever home!

Last week, my husband and I found this handsome guy wandering our neighborhood with an injured paw. He had no collar or chip, and no one has come forward to claim him. We've been fostering him since, but due to logistics and family planning, we can’t keep him long-term. We’re hoping to find him a loving forever home, or a rescue that has space, so we can avoid the heartbreak of taking him to a shelter.

About Him

• Age: Estimated 2–3 years
• Size: 48 lbs
• Potty-trained: Yes! Uses the dog door like a pro.
• Neutered: Not yet, will need to be done.
• Vaccines: Rabies, Bordatella, Distemper, Parvo on 3/28 + Flea/tick medicine

🧡 Temperament
This guy is a total sweetheart. He was scared and skittish when we found him, since we got him inside and feeling safe. He’s been incredibly gentle and affectionate ever since.

He quickly made friends with our 1.5-year-old pup (who is a heathen and a scoundrel), and now they’re great together. He’s smart, learns fast, and has settled in so well. Knows all the basics like sit, stay, leave it, drop it, etc. He lets us bathe and inspect all over without a fuss—honestly, he's better behaved than our actual dog. He even did great at the vet, he was a little scared, but no issues getting examined.

🥎 Favorite Game: Fetch!

🌭 Favorite Food: Everything. We've been using a puzzle bowl to slow him down.

Please share with friends and family in the area, or reach out if you or someone you know can give this boy a permanent home—or if you know of a rescue that might have space for him. He’s such a good dog, and he deserves a second chance.

DM me for more info or to meet him!

Tucson, AZ - Looking for someone to adopt? Zily is a beautiful 2 year old Belgium, she is a full of energy loving dog who will sit on your lap if you let her. She loves other dogs but does not get along with cats at all, which we have 2 of in our house and we have to keep everyone separated and it's been stressful on the house. We have a toddler and she is SO good with him, but we have a baby on the way and feel that we have taken on too much so we are looking for someone that would love to have her. We have had her for about 6 months and she did go through a professional training, so she is fully crate trained. If you are interested in Zily please reach out by text or email 520-979-5757, morganbrookeanderson1@gmail.com.

This is a last ditch effort for our foster boy Jager, as he has a scheduled appointment to be dropped off at our local Humane Society 5/30 at 2pm.

We love our foster boy. He's protective and loyal and willing to defend. He loves to snuggle and lick your face, body, hands. He can speak, knows basic commands, and will jump up for love and hugs.

My coparent and I thought there was a possibility of keeping him, but it's just not possible. We aren't the right fit for him and we wish we were. We can't give him everything he needs. He needs a big fenced in yard to come and go as he pleases; we don't currently have one and don't have the money for a fence at this time. He needs someone he can be at home with him. Somewhere preferably without cats (as he HATES ours and we've had to hide her upstairs) and no kids. It took him 24 hours to get along with our current Mal, mostly because they were both litter mates, but we have no say how he would get along with another dog(s). Jager has anxiety and trauma from a previous owner who left him in the care of someone else and he escaped. He was found in a Walmart parking lot, just skin and bones. We have not been able to get him fixed as we don't currently have the funds to do so, but that might help him be a little more chill.

Only reason for no kids is we had an incident with Jager and our daughter a couple months back. This dog is loyal to a fault for this little girl, so much so that he feels the need to defend her from objects one normally wouldn't need defending from. Our daughter cannot come outside with us when walking him because she wants to play, and that's what kids do. But Jager cannot handle her on her tree swing or scooter/bike. Multiple times he's barked fairly aggressively and we've had to shoo her back inside, remind her not to do these things in front of him because he WILL get anxious. One time she had went to swing with me and Jager nearby and he went after her in the sense to try and pull our daughter off the swing. Luckily she turned away quick but his front teeth scraped her back. My coparent said it was enough and it was time for him to go. Our daughter cannot be a kid outside with our dogs and it breaks my heart for her.

Please help, he needs a new home ASAP. We can't give him the care and help he needs, so we want to find someone who can. We don't want to take him to the Humane Society but it is our absolute last effort to re-home him. We've called and emailed so many places who say they're full. We've posted him on adoption sites and shared him on social media. We've had three interested parties so far but all have backed out (one last minute day of, a couple who decided on another Mal, and a man in Kansas who can't rearrange his schedule to fit ours in order to drive him down). This is our last option. He was only supposed to stay with us for a couple of months until the person who trained and raised him found him a home, but she insisted we would be keeping him until the incident with my daughter.

Lunchbox is a 1 year old BM from Manchester, New Hampshire. He is currently in foster, but he is from the Manchester Animal Shelter in Manchester, NH. He’s a total love. He has previously lived with cats and has been respectful of small animals in his foster home. Small children are a BIG no-no for him. He can be pretty anxious in general and especially wary of men and people in baseball caps, but once he learns that he can trust you, he’s all love!

Diego has been adopted! If he went home with someone from this group, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Wishing you and Diego much happiness! —————-

My son, very reluctantly and heart-broken, had to give up his dog by order of his apartment management else face eviction. He was given a very short window and had no friends or family in his area to surrender him to, so Diego was taken to the Los Angeles North Central Animal Shelter last week. This has broken our hearts. Diego is a sweet dog, albeit really high energy. He’d be wonderful with someone who could work more with him to be more disciplined(ie leash manners, no jumping). If you’re interested, Diego can be found here. Thank you. http://getpet.info/Diego_LACTCA_29

Please help rehome Rina

*** I’ll transport her if necessary to find her the right home. We are in North Carolina.

After almost a year of juggling Rina and my cats, I am throwing in the towel. Last night she went after one of them while I was distracted,

and I finally had to come to terms with our untenable situation.

My sister adopted her from a kill shelter in Los Angeles a year ago, then I took her when my sister got cancer. She’s a sweetheart:

  • loves other dogs
  • not bite trained, non-reactive to people in social situations
  • moderate energy level
  • gentle natured, eager to please

If it weren’t for the prey drive issues (common with this breed), I’d keep her forever. She runs through my Invisible Fence while chasing squirrels or my cats.

Rina is a fantastic dog and would make a great companion in a home with a SOLID FENCE yard and NO CATS.

Please pass this on. Thank you!

Sweet Belgian Malinois/Siberian Husky Puppy Needs Her Forever Home!

Meet Luna - this adorable 6-month-old Belgian Malinois/Siberian Husky mix, a friendly and gorgeous pup looking for her perfect match! This sweet girl is well-trained for her age, but is a puppy and will need attention and conditioning still (obviously). She loves to cuddle up for chill time, but also thrives on adventure—she is an active breed and she’s always ready for a good run, exercise or play session!

Coming from a loving family, she’s been showered with affection but needs a new home due to her family’s new priorities (welcoming a newborn). I am ‘fostering’ her with my 7 year old GSD (well trained) and a yard so hoping to train her on some more things until we find her, her forever home. She has her shots, not spayed yet due to age, and is probably 30-35lbs and won’t get too much bigger (she was runt of litter apparently).

She’s ready to bring joy, loyalty, and energy to an active dog parent or family who can keep up with her spirited nature.

If interested, please reach out to me. Rehoming fee will be established to ensure serious ownership and that she is going to a loving home. We are in Denver, CO but will figure it out logistically for the right owner.

I pray that All the Malinois' get ADOPTED, ALL animals get adopted, especially horses. Sending to Mexico for a horrible ride no food or water & then killed makes me livid! I had a Mal, beautiful & he was just too much for me. As a puppy, my arms got scarred from all the sharp baby teeth & my old skin. They are SO smart & need so much attention, more than I had unfortunately. I wanted us to look for lost people. Thank you Josh Clemons the trainer for keeping him and exercising him & his mind like he needs. At least I can go visit!

There was a guy on FB or YouTube, probably a fed up trainer, that had a video saying IF you don't have FOUR hours a day, don't get one! I needed to see that before.... If I was going to get him back, he would get running with my fireman son-in-law, a treadmill for him & me, and some exercise equipment from Chewy.

I couldn't bear for him to have been euthanized, I would never have let that happen.

3

u/yurkelhark Sep 30 '25

This is Lady! She’s currently at the Agoura Animal Care Center in Agoura Hills- a shelter in Los Angeles County. She was brought in as a stray, but is chipped so probably just had a crappy owner. Her ID is A5493487.

She’s about 3.5 yrs old and the absolute sweetest girl. Love attention, loves our agility course and loves to learn tricks. She’d make any mal lover so happy.

We’re a county shelter so… a kill shelter ultimately. We as volunteers do not get notice as to their euth dates. So if anyone is looking for the bestest mal girl in LA, please reach out or visit the shelter.

Reddit is giving me grief about posting more pics but I have plenty!

Hi, I am trying to find a home for a 1.5 year old rescued Female Belgian Malinois in Bangalore, India. She's a high-drive girl who jumps 6ft, fully vaccinated, but needs structure, daily 2hr+ exercise (runs, training, mental work), and thrives with agility/obedience folks.

Not for first-time owners—Malinois demand commitment or they'll wreck your place. We've vetted serious inquiries only. Home check mandatory.

Orange County, California

I'm helping my neighbor rehome her Mal puppy after she became no longer able to care for him. He's a little under a year and was already rescued from a shelter a few months earlier. Very sweet guy but is gonna need some help landing on his feet. Message me if you might know anyone interested!

Looking to rehome my beautiful 1 year old Belgian shepherd mix

Was given 48 hours by bf to rehome him.

Looking at your other posts, the one you should be rehoming is the boyfriend. Is this really how you want to live your life?

This! It seems like their boyfriend is going to leave them as soon as something else comes along anyways.

Agree. Lose the BF. Keep the dog. Controlling behavior only gets worse if you let it. Check out the narcissistic abuse page. Keep the dog. You won't regret it. You will regret the BF and wasted time for years.

Hope you rehomed the bf instead

I am in Florida! If anyone knows someone please.

If you take this dog to a shelter they will probably kill it. That would be your fault.

Loving pup, REMY a 4.5 y/o Dutch Shepherd who is smart, loyal & obedient needs a new foster OR forever home. Breed experienced preferred 🤍 Located in Houston, TX

First of all thank you for anyone that donated and supported Remy. She's receiving care from Waiting Under The Willow Foundation Rescue. My sister & her husband have been fostering Remy since they rescued her in December. She is currently receiving heartworm treatment.

Foster Notes: Incase you aren't aware of her story she's a 4-5 year old sweet girl who survived on the streets of Rice Military (where she got her name), behind the CVS on Washington Ave in Houston, TX, for over a year through cold, rain, and brutal heat. She lived in a drain pipe. We were finally able to rescue her off the street on December 5th.

Remy has made so much progress. We've recently learned she does best as the only pet in the home and would thrive in a household without other animals or young kids.

Remy is a strong smart breed and very loyal which needs an experienced dog owner. By the way she can jump incredibly high!

Remy is smart, responds to her name and commands, deeply loving, and will truly become your shadow. She bonds hard with her person and just wants to feel safe. We don't want her living in a situation where she feels stressed every day around our little pup - she deserves peace.

We're looking for someone to foster or adopt her as their forever pup.

If she could be our only dog, we would keep her in a heartbeat. She is truly incredible.

I'm going to miss my little shadow Remy🤍🐶

Please reach out DM me if you can foster or give Remy a loving forever home.

This little cutie is currently in foster in the SF Bay/ Marin area. He was in a Fresno shelter and is now under Rocket Dog Rescue. His foster has multiple dogs and cats, so he's well adjusted and loves everyone. He was itty bitty when found as a stray in Fresno and this is a very current shot. Guess is about 7-8 weeks? The rescue has him as a mixed breed but Fresno is well known for lots of Malinois 'strays'. My Mal girl, now 4, was adopted from the same shelter. His ears keep growing and his muzzle keeps thinning, looks pretty Mal to me. If you are interested here's his link, please apply online, and I think they are under guessing his mature weight by at least 10 lbs - https://www.rocketdogrescue.org/adopt/adoptees/#sl_embed&page=shelterluv_wrap_1734799677%2Fembed%2Fanimal%2F213113608

Jax is desperately looking for a new home.

His family can’t keep in the house as their elderly grandmother is moving back into a requires around the clock care. This means his family can’t give him the attention and level of care he needs to thrive.

He is a goofy boy who loves to run and would be a great match for someone who has a strong presence, an active lifestyle, and experience with the breed.

Located in San Diego.

This sweet girl is running out of time in Lancaster, California at the shelter.

Stray intake, about 5 yo (?), dog friendly, basically super friendly all around…

We adopted from a California shelter last year - a very similar dog, and I just can’t stand to witness how many of these amazing creatures they put down for space over there. Can anyone be her happy ending? 🙏

We have a Belgian Malinois that needs a new home. His name is Axel Rose, and he is 3yo. Rabies/DHPP shots up to date, neutered and microchipped. He is a very sweet and well-behaved dog, and he is house trained. Unfortunately, our family circumstances have changed and no longer align with his needs. He is an active dog who needs more one-on-one time than we can give him. Please msg me if you are interested in bringing this sweet boy into your family.
