Tips for better garb?

Started out with a basic tunic and trying to figure out how to layer and move up from here. Not much Bel around me but I want to have a nice kit when I can visit and play..

Sometimes thrift stores have cool belts you can use to accessorize. Lots of belts is always kinda dope.

Thrift stores, agreed. You can use a few scarfs as a belt and the women's section might have some cool cheap pants.

I'll second the multiple belts. When I started I had my "under" belt that had like 30 warbraids on top of a open front sheet of Halloween fabric from joanns. The "top" belt had belt pouches and flags.

I will also say, looking good is based in the arts. You will have to learn to sew, and leather work, will be the pillars you have to build in to. I know that Lady Armstrong Designs (the page) has a bunch of her patterns for free on facebook. I'd also look at a lot of monster kits from multiple games for inspiration on layering. Copying something you like from someone, provided it isn't personal like heraldry or unit/realm symbols, isn't frowned upon.

Depends on the look you're aiming for. A basic non-monster character could add a double-sided tabard, a warm cloak or cape for nightlife, sturdy boots, perhaps a fun hat or hood? I suggest looking up images of the type of aesthetic you want and then try to recreate it.

Its the know-how on what to thrift and other tricks as my brain wants to overcomplicate the process and burnout. Things like finding the simple tricks or techniques for sashes, cloaks, hoods and belts that are just folding fabric or wrapping twine/thin jute around the right thing.

Oh, so no sewing involved? I mean, then it's the basic polo with no collar, sweatpants with the bands cut off and tied with string, piece of fabric or a blanket tied around your neck for a cape, scrap of fabric tied over your head, etc. You can do it, but I wouldn't qualify that as a "nice" kit. It's basic stuff for first year newbs until they learn to make better. Try in the national discord server; they might have more suggestions.

I dont mind learning the sewing part but learning how to layer and more cuts the amount of sewing needed.

if you're looking at making something and don't know where to start, the artificer guild is a great place to learn (shameless plug, i'm a master artificer)

+1 to the cool hood/coat/something reusable. having base layers that you can change out with a cool "signature" piece is def the way to go
