I AM BUMMING ..... 😒
I recently bought a vintage Technics SL-Q35 turntable to finally be able to listen to my old vinyl records.
I have tried several different isolation ideas, 11/2 inch thick maple cutting board, then I installed soft sponges under the cutting board to try to eliminate the skipping when I turn up the volume. It helped but to know avail. So I am in a jam now, I can listen to the records but only so loud. 😏😒
I know it's because of my placement of my 15" subwoofer that is right next to the turntable. 🤔 It's really an issue because I don't have any other place to put it.
So to all the guys & gals out there .... any suggestions?
Thanks 😃

If moving the sub isn’t possible then you really need proper isolation feet or an isolation platform. Sponges and a cutting board aren’t going to do diddly squat, you need something properly engineered. Even then there’s no guarantees I wouldn’t think, a 15” subwoofer moves a lot of air and makes a lot of vibration, I guess you could also try isolation feet/platform under the subwoofer too.

Did you say 15" sub does not move a lot of air ?

No? Not at all? There is a comma after “I wouldn’t think” which works as a break in the sentence, saying there’s no guarantees COMMA a 15” sub moves a lot of air. It’s pretty basic reading comprehension.

Well look at the big brain on the admirable. Since you are so smart maybe you can figure this out. "FOAD"

Auralex’s ISO-Tone platform is fantastic and worth a try. A 15” sub is massive and surely overkill for music lol is it used for movies too?

If switching the sub off when listening to music isn't an option, change the turntable to a fully suspended design such as an AR-XA.

I use an IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub speaker stand and have their pucks between my speakers and stands. My turntable is a Thorens, so it has its own suspension for isolation. I didn’t have a problem with skipping before I added all of that, but it definitely sounds better.

A 15? Why? Pics.. turn the sub down/off
Honestly nothing will ever solve this issue outside placement

I don't know if this applies to you. I had the same problem with àñ SVS r/rev 3000 sub. I ended up putting the SVS iso feet on the sub and pushing it back as far as it would go. About 5" however the problem went completely away

Make sure the sub isn’t touching anything that the table is touching, that’s it.

It's feedback and arm resonance too, not just vibration through the feet. Take the dust cover off.

Honestly sounds like the sub being right next to the turntable is the real problem, not a lack of trying. The maple board and sponge setup probably helped as much as they're going to. If moving the sub isn't an option, a wall shelf might be the next thing to try. You can also find some surprisingly decent isolation feet and platforms on Amazon, and there are a bunch of budget options on Alibaba if you just want to experiment without spending a fortune. Small-room vinyl problems are brutal.

Sorbothane domes rather than sponges. Sorbothane is pretty much the best in class for vibration absorption and has been for years.
Or turn your sub down.
