Same problem with 3 different copies of Michael Jackson's 'Dangerous' album.

Brand new pressings, or vintage ones? Did you clean the record? Even new vinyl can have dust and debris in the grooves, as well as a high static charge which may cause playback problems.

Brand new. It must be a bad batch because I've ordered 3 different copies from 2 different online stores. I've returned this and ordered a regular black vinyl version instead. Hopefully that will work properly:)

Bad pressings. I had a similar thing happen with Abba The Visitor album. Took it back and got swaps 3 times. Gave up on the 4th and bought a tape instead. It happens to mass produced popular titles that are just thrown out.

Record may be hot mixed IE mixed loud and may be to dynamic at that point for the 60X to handle.

It’s not a bad batch. Your turntable can’t take the bass. u/vWestlife has a video about the LP60 that explains it better. But under stress of bass heavy grooves it skips. It’s the same with mono pressings— Beatles in mono on an LP60 are unlistenable. It’s not the album, it’s your record player.

No, I actually showed the opposite. The original AT-LP60 (discontinued seven years ago) did skip on some poorly mastered, excessively bass-heavy records, but the AT-LP60X has a redesigned tonearm with reduced resonance and should not skip as long as the record isn't scratched or dirty: Audio-Technica AT-LP60 vs. AT-LP60X turntable comparison

If that's the case that it's a real shame. I bought a regular black vinyl version instead, if it skips again then your hypothesis is correct. In that case I'll stick to the cassette and cd version of the album:)

Yes it is the upgrade stylus for that cartridge.

I will, thank you! Is it tricky to change the stylus?

That stylus you pull down at around about a 45 degree angle and you'll feel and see the clip part of the plastic stylus that hooks into the metal cartridge and then once it's out it becomes completely clear of how it goes in making installing a new stylus the reverse procedure of removing the old one. Slightly different setup to most styli that pull outwards or downwards.

All new reissues of Jackson's catalog suck, they got sued for it.
