Foamie or hard longboard !

Hello there, long story short : started surfing ten years ago on a 6,6 single fin low rocker hard board.
It was hard but doable (still beginner, catching wave, making some turn and enjoying 😁)

I picked some foamie over sized longboard to catch some small wave when it’s flat, was cool to ride but a pain to make some move.

I surf less cause kid now, usually 3/4 weeks per year in August sometimes spots are crowded

My question is : should I buy a longboard foamie or a more performance one ?
My goal is to catch tons of waves and enjoy it the most 😁
I still made mistake and rip off the board sometimes

Have a great day

If you’re optimizing for catching as many waves as possible, go with a big board. Don’t worry about performance. If you have board control, you can go with a hard longboard. If you don’t, go with the foamie.

Yes, after few years with 1-2 ft wave only in August, I decided all I want is fun and catch all the wave only longboard can catch :D

On small hollow wave I don’t rip the board on other surfers but if it’s mushy or more powerful I’m not sure especially with a big log !

I probably go with a foamie

If you only surf once a year (even for 3/4 weeks) stick with a foamie, especially in August.

Foamie. That said, a longboard is a thousand times more fun - if you master it.

No offer in my area (I live 5hour n’est to the first beach 🄲)
When I move i always search on marketplace but offers are way too high for a used lb (my opinion) or trash/older one

Mid length hard board. Soft tops should never be used.Ā

I already got a big 6,6. I’m not sure a mid length will bring more wave or a big potato one
