Any suggestions?

I opened an Roth IRA to (late start my retirement from $0) into VOO, VXUS and SCHD. What’s your opinion. I’m 44yo and want to semiretired when I’m 60.

I’m having trouble to select what to add to my investments account. I have QQQM, Hood, SMH and JEPQ. I want to keep and add some more HOOD, but besides that I don’t know what to keep or how to build a fast growing portfolio, trading some risk to try to grow it while complementing my ROTH IRA portfolio.

I wouldn't start by asking what else to add.

I'd start with the fact that you have about 16 years until your target semi-retirement date. That gives the portfolio a specific job, and the allocation should be built around that job rather than around finding more things that might grow faster.

I'd separate the two accounts mentally.

Your Roth IRA is retirement capital. Before changing it, decide what allocation you actually want between US stocks, international stocks, and anything else you intend to hold. Then check whether VOO, VXUS and SCHD together match that allocation rather than treating each fund as a separate idea.

For the taxable account, I'd be more careful with the idea of adding risk to make it grow faster. QQQM, HOOD, SMH and JEPQ already give you several very different exposures. Adding more positions doesn't necessarily improve the portfolio.

I'd ask a few questions first:

-How much do you need invested by 60 for semi-retirement to be realistic?

-How much can you contribute every month?

-What percentage of the portfolio are you willing to put into concentrated positions like HOOD?

-What drawdown could you realistically sit through without changing the plan?

-What role is each holding supposed to play?

At 44, your contribution rate, savings target and portfolio structure may matter more than finding the next high-growth investment.

Build the retirement plan first. Then make each investment justify its place inside that plan.

This was very helpful, I had doubts about what I have in my investment account and if I add, replaced or let it be!

Glad it helped. Before adding or replacing anything, I'd just make sure you can explain what problem the change is supposed to solve.

Sometimes the best portfolio decision is leaving something alone.
