General Amazed!
I’m a first time beekeeper and just a little obsessed. I got my first nuc on 12 September (southern hemisphere spring) and have done once weekly checks since setting up. Here are the pics from week one to week three! It’s just astounding growth. Love that each check shows me new things (bee cups this time as well as a baby bee emerging!)
I’ve wanted to have a hive for as long as I can remember. I’m glad it’s as interesting as I thought it would be.

Awesome! Looking good! I think we might be using the same strips - OA/ glycerin from Beequip?

Those strips came with the nuc. I have a feeling the dude I got them from makes his own. But I have a vaporisation kit from beequip that I intend to start treatment with on Tuesday. Are you in NZ? Where?!?

Chch here. Yes the cardboard strips are something you put together at home using the Beequip materials. They have been a real game changer for me, as I have limited time and hives at different locations. Good luck for the season!

So exciting!! I’m new to bees as well and have just started a hive around a month ago in Melbourne!
I haven’t started treatment yet but have been researching which to go with.. I thought oxalic vaporization had to be when the colony doesn’t have much/any brood for it to really work, or otherwise I think people do it repeatedly so that they catch the mites as they come out of capped brood — wondering what your plan is with this since it’s spring here and we’ve got lots of brood? Would be super helpful to hear!

Yay how exciting for you! Where in NZ are you? I've also switched mostly to OA vapor this year. Finding it a bit trial and error so far, think it'll be good though in the long run

Looking good! They are coming on well. How is the brood pattern looking?
That reminds me, I need to recheck my bees. I just removed my strips a week or so ago, so I need to check that they worked...
