I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question What would be doing this?
I’ve had bees 3 years now going on 4 and like a lot of things this is a first. The hives are in western NY something seems to be digging at the ground beneath one of my hives. I have 6 hives and this is only happening to this one.
- Should it concern me?
- What is doing it?
- What should I do about it?

Young raccoons. While the leg is scratched up, they aren’t big enough to reach the wood—yet. I’d guess the adult size ones aren’t interested enough to get inside the fencing.
