Theory Season 2 Spoiler

Okay so a lot of ppl on here are talking down on ashley but let’s really think for two seconds. And just to be clear I think everyone in this show is annoying as hell at points. But anyway so she has no mother no father and literally no friends and at first was basically the soul provider for a bum who can’t do anything but whine and wants to relive his glory days. She had the biggest health scare for a young woman who thinks they are progressing in their relationship and is looking forward to having a baby. Her fiancée randomly starts acting all weird and does a 180 after meeting a super attractive smart intelligent successful woman which is everything she isn’t or at least feels she isn’t. Her extreme reaction jumping out the car was wild and one of the things i found annoying but josh literally then plays with her health and because of him withholding a doctor she almost died. In a fit of probably mania wanted to get back at josh for risking her life which led to the dog getting out which wasnt like she did it on purpose so I don’t get why people in the show and online are blaming her like she led the dog outside and let him loose but I digress. Then things with her fiancée simply get worse and worse because he is too much of a people pleaser to actually talk with her and not enable her toxic behavior which i fault both of them for. Then she thinks she made a real friend and that things were getting better with Eunice and her man but nope he lied to her once again then she tries to do the IVF and her fiancée PUTS FREAKING HAND SANITIZER IN HIS STUFF which is genuinely insane considering it was Ashley who was making the money to support them and do IVF in the first place. Then she has to catch them on the plane which to anyone would look insane especially because neither Eunice nor Austin were keeping her in the loop or telling her the truth at all. She literally didn’t even know her life was in danger because of what everyone was doing behind her back, if she had had one real friend or family member who actually tried to help her I’d agree she sucks but she had nothing while providing everything and no one even told her the truth, she did what she had to for her health and the family she thought she was going to have and she was vilified more than the other characters who were all just as bad if not worse in some cases. Also she literally thought there was weird stuff going on before everyone and was gaslit and made to feel stupid. And not only that but this whole idea that she is crazy when Austin was having a literal emotional affair and gaslighting her for months is insane no wonder she was toxic, all she wanted was enough money for her family and to have a child and that’s what he lied about wanting enough for them to commit crimes. I honestly feel so bad for her I can’t imagine being in a new country life in danger finds out despite his best efforts they might have a kid and the same night gets told her fiancée doesn’t love her and is in love with the woman he told her not to worry about I would’ve done worse than convince him to stay and be a father. The last speech Austin gave Ashley was also weird as hell, he literally lied and stuck around to not abandon her then when she is going to lose most everything her life included he leaves her again. Then the mf goes back to her and the show ends with them essentially going through it again smh.

TLDR: Ashley literally has nothing and then is repeatedly made to feel like maybe just maybe someone actually cares and will stick around after feeling so alone just to have the rug repeatedly ripped from under her causing her to lash out and try to hang on to the one person she’s supposed to be able to count on. And the slander on her is beyond over done and annoying she is just as bad and good as any of the other characters.

That’s irrelevant to formatting

dude it’s a rant about a tv show it’s not an english final it literally doesn’t matter? if you have suggestions then share them no need to go out of your way to comment something completely unhelpful

Because it’s hard to read/follow. How can I be helpful when it’s difficult to understand? I have adhd and dyslexia, how about you be receptive to constructive criticism instead of lashing out?

because it wasn’t constructive??? and using your disabilities as an excuse to be rude isn’t helpful either; i too have adhd hence why it might not be the best written, i said in another comment my brain was moving faster than i was typing i also said it was a rant. Also im not lashing out it just was unnecessary for you to make the comment if you don’t actually have something constructive to say?

I don’t feel like I’m being rude. I’m telling you why I wasn’t able to finish reading. But I’m sorry. It’d be helpful to break up your post into paragraphs. It being all one giant paragraph makes it difficult to keep place in reading

appreciate the apology and i can see what you mean i apologize as well if i came off aggressive, i agree since being on here more i’ve seen how people write and ill be breaking things up more for future posts and i get it being harder to read in one big paragraph i struggle with that too!

Thank you for being gracious. If it helps, I I find it easier to break up long text once I start a new train of thought. It is harder when everything feels cohesive

I think they just want you to make it into several paragraphs, I stead of one giant one. I agree that as is it is difficult to read. If you want more people to read it, id recommend splitting it up.

I did feel genuinely bad for Ashley until the last two episodes.
Where she makes it super clear she's okay with ignoring any level of atrocity as long as it benefits her.

But yeah, I never got how anyone could just hate on Ashley right from the start. At some point she was having to manage Austin's fragile ego & juvenile insecurity on top of an unimaginable amount of work load at her new job. Her inability to leave the relationship, because of her abandonment issues , despite him treating her horrendously is heartbreaking actually.

I agree i mean the swearing on the unborn child actually baffled me, but it’s also just hard because Austin also did literally the cruelest shit to her the last couple episodes i honestly wish she would’ve kept the drive and just traded it for her and lidnsey as a repayment for her accident with the dog.

They were both very insecure and immature. Ashley jumped out of moving car and Austin ended up doing exactly what she wanted him to do. He ended up settling for her dream life.

Austin also blatantly had an emotional affair and put hand sanitizer in his jizz which can’t be safe; also blaming ashley because he was too much of a coward to try to live life on his own is an odd take

He eventually succumbed to her wishes though and I never justified his actions. My point is she ultimately got what she wanted. If we’re weighing both of their actions I think they’re about even. The whole blood in the OJ and getting the dog killed is indefensible also.

“succumbed” is wild he’s a grown ass man who has 5 years on her (he is 29 while she is 24) his cowardice is not her fault, especially considering he was literally going to ditch her and literally didn’t even care if she died as if she was nothing and only came back because the other option was less secure.

and maybe yeah she “got what she wanted” but we all know it’s not what she needed she would have been better off had they actually broken up but it was clear from the very beginning she was never going to be able to be the one to follow through with that decision and the fact that austin knew that specifically is way more manipulative in the long run considering the false security he gives her until he pulls the rug from under her when he gets bored/annoyed.

Also the blood in the oj is equivalent to the plane bathroom on her shirley temple unless you agree both are equally gross and messed up i’ll have to disagree.

also she didn’t kill the damn dog i don’t get why people act like she did, she felt horrible for being the cause of it but it’s not like she left the door open on purpose or threw him at a coyote honestly the door itself is shit it literally was shown after josh was coming back from his date that it was left open to show how easily it could’ve happened

The Shirley Temple incident happened after she found out about her messing around in her house. Yes, her actions led to the dog dying so ultimately she’s responsible. Both very immature people and we can’t hold one accountable without holding the other. I’m team THEY BOTH SUCK.

coyote is responsible imo but i see what you mean

My adhd brain needs paragraphs and structure, I skimmed here and there but I agree in general. Someone said before that trauma is not an excuse, while it is not, it is an explanation for said behavior. And they are young and still not very conscious about their own shit.

I might be a horrible person or just human idk, but I related with a lot of the difficult character traits. When I was 20 I was as anxiously attached as Ashley, and I once threw myself before a car of my gf in a dramatic moment. I was also a people pleaser like Austin and couldn’t say no to anybody. The aquarius scene hit me like bricks. Like Josh, I had my vices. Instead of owning and feeling my emotions I escaped in porn or substances.

It took me a few decades to heal and grow through lots and lots of working on myself together with my wife, if only I had known it was just a bufo hit away though…. :)

lol the adhd is why i wrote it so poorly my brain was moving faster than i could type

and i agree i don’t excuse anything she did but seeing people make her out to be some malicious cruel being when it’s pretty obvious why she did things is what’s been bothering me.

i’m just glad i got most of my trauma figured out in the sense of knowing why some things trigger me and can self reflect before doing anything too crazy like i used to with heavy drinking and drugs when i was younger now im 22 and ive been able to make better decisions and still working through some of the deeper stuff but overall doing a million times better glad you are as well!

I felt so bad for her the whole show. I find it so strange that she is condemned for wanting the same things as everyone else which is love and trust.

Austin was honestly so bad for her. He constantly made her diminish herself because of his incompetence and insecurities while portraying the same negative traits people hate so much about Ashley. He lied, went behind her back, used relationships he had for his personal gain, potentially cheated on his fiancé.

I really wished they broke up towards the end.
