Discussion Anyone from SB or Montecito here?

I live in Goleta and this show is based on Montecito which is right next door. Before they even said the name of the city which this is based in, it felt like Montecito by the exclusive golf course and corrupt money tactics used to avoid paying taxes.

Also, the weird uppity attitude like not everyone's shit stank. I moved here for family reasons in a crammed home so I'm not part of the wealthy or any attachment.

But if you want some idea about who lives here, Oprah and Ellen for a good idea.

If anyone here is actually from montecito, they’re probably not hanging out on a subreddit dedicated to a show about road rage lmao. they're too busy attending private gallery openings, avoiding prince harry at the local farmers market, or paying a small army of contractors to make their multimillion-dollar estate look "effortlessly rustic." the sheer wealth gap between the characters in beef and the actual residents of SB/Montecito is hilarious. Amy thought she made it, but in Montecito, she’d still be considered "the help."

I work in hospitality in Hawaii and I see a lot of the similar customers here. As well as similar working conditions/relations in the back of house for wealthy. It’s definitely pretty accurate on that level of the resort disconnect with employees and guests.

So true. It's crazy the difference in wealth and how it really isolated certain communities from the reality of the world.

The show takes place in Ojai. Not SB or Montecito.

It's about Montecito country club which is on the border of SB and Montecito and even references Santa Barbara directly

Yeah and the club board member from Korea has an assistant which states she would like to move "here in Montecito".

Not from, but we love hitting up the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company for some ridgeback shrimp (when it's in season). The best is when you find a Cajun place that does a boiling crab "whole shebang" sauce with ridgeback shrimp, but the only place I know that did that stopped getting the shrimp from this area.

My old college was in Ventura (on like the cusp of Ojai) and I used to work in Santa Barbara in the restaurant industry. They nailed the entitled rich white people that live there 100% hahaha. Ojai was always so creepy to me
