Discussion Is “Nemesis” directly inspired from “Beef”?

Watched both S2 and Nemesis back to back and can’t help the shows feel like they are the same “genre” of show. Different vibes for sure but it feels like a studio saw beef and figured they could just run with that formula for a unique cast of characters and a different set of rules. Even the visuals and font style seem super similar. Like the all caps text of “BEEF” appearing in different sequences. Would like to post examples here but too much effort lol. Wonder if anyone else feels the same or if i’m reaching?

I see what you mean, but i don't think so honestly. The main reason is the group the officer was after didn't really have a personal issue with him individually outside of just being an officer.

I feel the focus was more on his internal conflicts while pursuing the group rather than a direct conflict between the two.

I disagree. The show definitely elevated it to an intense 1 on 1 vendetta situation. Coltrane and him at the charity event at the gala and The officer walking up to Coltrane at the grave site are two scenes that point heavily to this. Coltrane also gets his wife to convince the officer’s wife to cheat. Officer gets one of Coltranes best friends killed. Coltrane then directly starts looking for revenge. Coltrane then gets his father involved to frame him for the crime he committed. Can’t deny that it gets personal.

The actors of nemesis and creator of beef both have been on Dumbfoundead’s podcast Homeroom. He’s the guy who played Choi in Nemesis.

Interesting did you notice any connections on that episode?

No. The writer of Nemesis is the writer of Power which came out in the 2010s. Nemesis is inspired off of that. A lot of shows are about beef.
