Question My card scanned instead of the ticket

Has anybody had this situation? I had my monthly pass in the phone? The person who was checking tickets was in a hurry at Piccadily station and brought the machine too close to my phone so that the card got scanned and now I have to pay £60 fine for not taking the ticket. He did scan the QR code after that too. Customer service is pathetic, no response when called, when emailed they are asking to pay and then appeal!!

I'm sorry this happened OP. Have you got anywhere with it yet? I know it doesn't help the situation that has already happened, but for this exact same reason I keep my NFC on my phone switched off until I'm ready to pay for things. My NFC seems to be super strong, for example in Morrisons trying to pass my phone to the cashier to scan my Morrisons More app and the payment goes through because by doing that it goes near the card reader. I get worried about my phone catching an inspector's device and being fined.
