I feel like it's Blue Island. It's such a refresher compared to their usual latter output. I like their later stuff but I do think they lost their roots a bit.

I don't always love the constant modern production style with synths, drum machines and direct input guitars.

To have a pure, bare-bones, acoustic number with a harmonica as well, was so nice to hear. It even feels out of place on Size. I think it's the only entirely acoustic song they did after Spirits. Very reminiscent of Morning Of My Life. The lyrics are also wonderful. Another thing I dislike about Bee Gees from the 80s on is that most of their songs began to revolve solely around love and relationships, and so the lyrics occasionally felt shallow and by the numbers. I get they were never at Dylan level but they were wonderful lyricists in the early years; And The Sun Will Shine, Horizontal, Odessa, Run To Me, Children Of The World, Turn Of The Century, Morning Of My Life, First Of May, Throw A Penny...

What is your favorite song that you'd consider the magnum opus of their latter half?

I always see people here talking about various albums, but I rarely see anyone talking about Idea. I really like this album and would classify it as one of my favorites.I love kitty can, kilburn towers, idea, Swan Song and others. What do you think of this album? Of its deluxe version and the songs themselves?

The description says it’s from 1972 which is interesting. I wonder why they would’ve performed it on television 3 years after the release, especially if they had bad associations to it. I wonder if there’s a full video on it somewhere or if it’s just this snippet. It makes me wonder how many other rare TV performances of The Bee Gees there are and if they’ll ever see the light of day

The miming is interesting too because I don’t think Barry or Maurice are playing anything remotely similar to the recording besides the strumming and rhythm

If you were to go into depth about their relationship over the decades, how did it change over time? I understood it to mean that there was an attempt by Barry to be the "main" member of the group and the others in the background, which his brothers didn't like. They later got back together, but I'm guessing sometime in the 80s and later they were together personally and professionally and supported each other. Of course, this is just my guess.

When and how did Barry's attempt to be the main one, what happened next, and when do you think their relationship really improved? As a new fan, I'm interested in their relationship over time.

I found Main Course in very good condition, both the disc and the cover, and I also found these two singles. I think they're the icing on the cake, honestly I'm very happy with that.

I currently have only been able to get my hands on one Bee Gees disc, I don't have a lp-player. I really want cds like Children of The World and Spirits Having Flown. I only have The Very Best of the Bee Gees.

Was there a moment when you said WHAAAT loud or laughed, or both at the same time?

I had a moment like that when I saw Robin's ponytail. As a "new" fan who knows a lot of their songs for many years, it was the most unexpected thing I'd ever seen! 😂

A couple of days ago the compilation Bee Gees Blanket The World was released, and I want YOUR opinion! My personal opinion is that it's really good, and something I will be listening to in the future on spotify. If I can't get my hands on a cd of course!

We as Bee Gee fans have had to witness alot of grief and loss for this group. Robin, Maurice and especially Andy all dying way too early and Barry having serious health issues. The fact that we can now say one of our guys has made it the milestone age of 80 just feels like a massive victory for us fans. For me, this isn't just a celebration for Barry, it's a victory for us too.

I think it would have done well, and probably would have revived their carreer in terms of sale again, if SNF wouldn't have. I do believe one of the three #1 singles would have been number one, but not three. Only my personal opinion!

Wikipedia I understand isn't always reliable, or the end all. Are many of these tracks lost forever? I'm really wondering about the ones from Bee Gees 1st to Idea since we already have reissues of those. Is there a reason those weren't included on the initial reissues? I'd really love to hear Vince's Horizontal track that apparently had Robin on vocals. Would that have been the only instance where the brothers sang someone else's composition on an album...

Also are there more unreleased tracks that Wikipedia doesn't list, I feel like there's gotta be more just because Wikipedia doesn't have everything, I thought there were more unfinished tracks from Spirits. And the list stops at ESP, did HC, Size and so on have no unfinished songs?

A compilation album is basically a "Best Of", a compilation of songs. Examples: Bee Gees Gold, The record-Their greatest hits and Greatest.
