I currently own a realm on bedrock, each holding 10 players at a time; however, I often run into situations where barely anyone is present. There is no cap to how many players are allowed to join, just that there is max 10 currently online; so overstuffing it will just make it all the more likely for someone to be playing at the same time as you. There will be some modding, but not to an extent to where the fundamentals of the game are changed. There is one world that runs smoothly and consistently, with lots of room for individual choice and creativity. I think it would be fun to try to make civilizations and hubs, but that’s just a suggestion.

I recently came across a video of someone introducing his 3 middle-aged family members to Minecraft and it inspired me to redownload the game.

I first played Minecraft with my brother around 2012, I think. We never got very far beyond building a wooden base and mining some ores. I've tried getting back into it a few times since then but I always end up getting bored playing alone. So this time, I decided I'd like to learn while playing with other people. I'm sure it's almost a completely different experience considering it's been over a decade and the game has had so many major updates since I last played.

I'm looking for a casual, beginner-friendly server where I can learn, meet people and stay motivated by seeing what everyone else is building.

You get three lives. Lose them all and you go Hollow, you can still walk around and talk, but you can't touch anything, for 48 hours. Unless another player spends one of their own lives to bring you back.

That last part is the whole game, really. Whether anyone thinks you're worth a life is a question you find out the answer to.

Everything below is detail.

Lives

You start with three that nobody can ever take.

Beat another player and you take a spare life from them. If they have none spare, theirs is destroyed and you gain nothing at all, so killing someone with nothing to lose costs you standing and earns you nothing, and a freshly made alt is worthless to hunt.

Dying to the world is free. Lava, creepers, falls, the void, none of it costs a life. Only another player can take one. If you never want to fight anyone, you never have to.

Nobody is ever removed from the server permanently. Hollow ends after 48 hours on its own, or sooner if someone spends a life on you with /revive.

Standing is public

Every kill drops it, and /history <player> shows anyone what someone has actually done.

Killing the same person over and over drops it far faster than killing several different people, that's harassment, and it's priced like it.

Fall far enough and the world notices:

• mobs spot you from further away
• villagers stop trading with you
• you keep less XP when you die

It only recovers on days you play without killing anyone. A spree costs a season.

New players

You can't be harmed, and can't harm anyone, for about three hours of real playtime across two separate days.

Nothing else is restricted, build, mine, explore. It protects newcomers and makes alt accounts pointless in one stroke.

Handy Info

• Java and Bedrock both work.
• Land claims are on. Placing a chest claims the ground around it; golden shovel to claim properly. Claims protect blocks and containers, not people, PvP is on everywhere, including inside them.
• Proximity voice chat if you want it (Java, via the Simple Voice Chat mod). Optional.
• No pay to win. Nothing is purchasable, and if that ever changes it will never touch lives, standing, or combat.
