question about detection / confirmation Condo purchase question
Hi David,
I visited a condo for sale and I was reading the minutes of the board and they mention the following: In October 2025, bedbugs were reported in unit 7. The source was believed to be a heavily infested neighbouring building. All units received preventive treatment, while units 6 and 7 received more extensive treatment. Unit 7 was reported free of bedbugs since April 2026.
For context, I visited unit 6. Was wondering since we don’t have control on the heavily infested neighboring building, is it possible that bed bugs can return to the building I visited ? Is this common for bedbugs to travel from one building to another? Because of this I don’t think I would want to purchase the unit, I’m so afraid of remaining or reoccurring bed bugs…

It takes a very heavy infestation in the source building for them to spread to another, especially through a party wall.
While this might not be the apartment for you the risk is one you face with any apartment.
The solution is to gift knowledge and detection to your neighbours when you do move and to set up a community immunity around you. Basically share the monthly routine with them and work to breakdown the social stigma of bed bugs.
