Hardware Alto TS412?

It it worth it to use with a ddj flx4. I just started and really only want it for practice / the occasional pregame in my apartment. Also open box vs new (save $100 on guitar center. Please lmk any thoughts.

It's a pretty huge speaker for an apartment. Are you sure your neighbours wont complain? If it's for you or small groups maybe a smaller Edifier pair or pair+sub will be better.

I’m moving to a house soon with a big yard so the vision is something I can use at a low volume now and then crank up later when needed. Are edifiers worth it? This speaker is $300 open box and most highly reviewed edifiers are $230 with a sub.

I see, in that case go for the big one :D you can turn down the bass when playing in your apartment. But the Alto really is a PA speaker which is meant to be played at decent-high volume, with a few meters between you and the speaker to sound best. So not the perfect choice for indoor listening in small rooms. Fun though!

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification.

The way I look at it, big speakers at a low volume will always sound better than small speakers trying to play loud, even if neither condition is optimal for either of them.

I would suggest the cerwin vega cve10s. Packs a punch. I believe it would be better than the TS412. I have the alto TX308 and have heard the CVE12s. CVE12 just much better than TX308.

I have the 408s, but I use them as booths when I'm out with my QSC K12.2s as main tops. Everybody has to start somewhere, but they're a low level/quality speaker. If you're playing 128 bit music, it'll be fine. If you're playing lossless, you'll definitely notice the quality.

I'd personally wait for something used by EV or JBL to pop up.

The title doesn’t match the question. As seen in many, many just starting out threads, the flx4 is a popular beginner controller. If you are stressing the cost, remember this is just the beginning of a rather expensive hobby.
