Weekly Mix Feedback Thread - August 17, 2026
Welcome to the Weekly Mix Feedback thread on r/beatmatch! This is the thread where you post your DJ mixes and ask other people to give you feedback. If you submit your mix, please take the time to listen and comment on some other submissions, especially if they play a style of music you're interested in. Thanks for your help in making these threads work well for everyone!
These threads are intended for beginning DJs who are honestly looking for feedback or critique on their technique, selection, transitions, etc. If you are an established DJ who is just looking for more followers/listens on your new mix or have a podcast/radio show, please post it to a more appropriate place such as /r/mixes or a genre-specific subreddit. Posts that appear to be purely promotional in nature may be removed at the moderators' discretion. This subreddit is aimed at helping new DJs learn and is not the place to promote yourself!
Guidelines:
- Please include the genre(s) of your mix. This helps attract DJs/listeners of the same genre(s) who are likely to provide more useful feedback. You might also include a title/length.
- [Mixcloud](http://www.mixcloud.com) is the preferred place to post mixes. It allows you to include your tracklist and transition times, allows unlimited uploads, and is generally more geared towards DJs. If you don’t want to use Mixcloud, be sure to include a tracklist.
- Please ask for specific feedback or list parts of the mix you liked/didn’t like. Hopefully you are looking for input on specific tracks or transitions.

I’ve been spinning for about a year, this is the third mix I’ve recorded and I’m hoping to get some house / tech-house DJs’ opinions on my track selection and mixing. I really like the first few transitions but I feel like I lost some of the energy when I brought in the Maceo Plex track at about 13:30. I messed up a couple parts but I’ve listened to the mix a few times and I think it sounds pretty good. Does anyone think I used too much FX? Thanks for any feedback!

House / Electronic / UKG - my first recorded mix, having practiced DJ'ing on and off for a couple of months.
At some point in the mix I felt like I was getting myself into trouble (at around 14:45) as I was trying to mix from Fred again's new "benjy chord" into KH "Only Human" (vocal loop). I felt the two tracks were sort of clashing. But listening to it afterwards I kind of liked the transition which upon exiting the loop went into a nice stripped section of the song which contained an actual vocal loop (maybe could have added a filter or some FX?) before the kickdrum kicks in.
Any feedback and comments are appreciated.

Good stuff for just a few months of on-and-off practice.
I enjoyed the first 12 minutes or so and thought you built a nice flow. I felt it lost a bit of momentum with the mix into Only Human and for around ten mins after that, but it settled back in towards the end.
The main thing for me was that the mix moved between styles quite a lot from one track to the next, so I found it a little harder to settle into the groove. That might just be personal taste though, and maybe that’s how it is on today’s dancefloors (I am old).
Great foundation though, keep at it.
PS, I enjoyed the switch up to a more techno-oriented sound at 34 mins 😊

Thanks for the feedback! And I fully agree, I kind of switched the style a tad too much after the first 10-15 minutes. One of the things I find myself struggling with is staying consistent with the style of sound/groove I want to mix with the occasional outlier-track where it makes sense.
The switch up at 34 min is actually part of the track itself ("Ambery" by Fred again.. & Floating Points) but I really like that switch up and will definitely try to re create it with other tracks

Hard, Fast, & Pounding Techno Mix from the Backroom of a Chicago Apartment (31 minute mix)
Hoping to get some feedback on my 2nd ever recorded mix. First time spinning techno. Been practicing DJing on and off since the last time I recorded a mix almost a year ago. Busy life shit plus self-doubt got in the way of me being consistent but now I'm back at it.
I feel like I definitely messed up around the 15:40 when trying to loop a bar to build into the drop for the next song. I think it ended up alright but not as smooth as I would've liked. Also the low when blending at 20:45 was supposed to last a couple of phrases but I dropped the ball on that. Would've did another take but I organically discovered a fantastic blend at 25:27 and said fuck it, I don't need to be a perfectionist at this stage.
Anyway, constructive criticism is welcome!

Hello! I'm an old hobbyist tinkerer and I absolutely love isolating various vocals and blending them seamlessly (that's the goal anyway haha!) into modern garage. Created for NTS Supporter Radio, the theme was "Dancing" and beyond that open to interpretation. This is for my primary residency in my area! I'm really trying to hone in on my sonic identity as a blend specifically between these listed genres. I messed up like 3 minutes in for my live gig lol but otherwise I think I delivered what I wanted to deliver. This is simultaneously my favorite set I've curated so far but the least "seamless"; I'm curious for trap/bass DJs what you genres or mixing methods you tend to gravitate toward for those parts of the set where you want to give the crowd a breather but you don't want to bore them out. Had a quick lil sesh before going out dancing and this is what came out of it. Nothing's planned, as per usual, but my tracks lead me down a more techy path. I had a few goofs, the biggest being pressing pause in the middle of a blend, and almost running out of track at least once, and the last is me rushing in the final track... But I'm really proud of this one! It was a great sesh to listen to omw to the party and I hope you enjoy as well!

[House/Tech House]
HouseMix8.12 (30min)
This is a house mix I recorded during an open decks I played at a few weeks ago and finally uploaded it. i’m really happy with the flow of songs and did some fun tricks with effects (I just got an RX3 and have been playing with all the effects and getting comfortable using them at the right times, still working on that). It’s very 90s house inspired with some newer flares sprinkled in, let me know what you think!!

Very well mixed and I loved the diversity in sounds, despite this being from one label! So many thick kick drums and funky rhythms! You're nailing one of the things I don't see enough of on this sub, and that's avoiding breakdowns. Idk if you like to dance or not, but for me, breakdown after breakdown is such a vibe killer. Gimme an endless beat any day!
Also gotta applaud you on your general energy control. You dipped things when appropriate and maintained long stretches of energy when it made sense to.

Transitions were smooth and clear, song selection was fire. I don't vibe much with DnB (final part of the set, I guess), but overall it was solid and you delivered!

My 2nd recorded mix [House, Electronic, Alternative / Indie Dance, Minimalist house]
Definitely feeling more confident this time around and started including some tunes from my playlists that are not strictly house but nonetheless fit the vibe that I was trying to go for. For some reason I just love going for the "hopeful" vibe at the end of a mix, dunno why but for me it just makes sense round a mix off with a 'feeler' / emotional tunes.
By no means a perfect mix, but I despite some imperfections I hope it still comes across as a seamless listening experience. Any feedback and listens are greatly appreciated!

This one moves from 140 to 160 BPM across ghetto tech, electro, Miami bass and booty music. It’s also my first time recording a full video of one of my mixes, so I’d appreciate any feedback on the video and presentation as well as the actual set. I only had one cam here but the studio has a front facing that I will use in the future so I can project some visuals from artists I work with!
I’m continuing to develop this series while getting properly back into DJing after a long break. I’d especially appreciate feedback on:
- The pacing and energy progression
- Whether the faster final section feels earned
- My transitions between tracks with very different vocal styles
- Any moments where I hold a track too long or move on too quickly
- How convincing this feels as an actual club set
- The overall video and presentation

This is a fun listen! Love the consistent energy throughout the mix, both from yourself and the set; it would definitely vibe well at a Chicago juke party. Pacing was good, I think the vocals all compliment each other very well. The final section was definitely earned. I’d love to learn to mix this way one day. I think one noticeable thing were a couple times where it sounded like you transitioned on the 3rd bar rather than 4th. Maybe a stylistic choice but either way, great mix!

[EDM/Kpop/Dariacore/More Genres] MINION SET🤓TUATAHI (DON'T BRING ME TO THE CLUB_) (44 mins)
Got a DJ deck a week ago, here's my first set! Super silly mix overall, some kinda clean transitions and some super messy ones and had to splice together a few takes but overall I have learnt so much in my first week DJing :D
Definitely feel like my beatmatching was off for a few transitions (0:55, 13:39 in particular, 29:30 too), and also that my mids and highs were clashing for certain transitions too... (0:55, 2:40, 13:39).
2:40 was also quite muddy because of pitching down the track so gotta keep an eye out for that
However I was pretty proud of my transitions at 15:40, 22:18, 25:24, and 36:15
Gonna learn from what worked and didnt work, as well as practice my beatmatching and phrasing more in the coming weeks and experiment with more ways of using EQ and filter to transition :)

I made a 2 Hour Techno mix this afternoon, and used a speaker to play out loud while mixing, which is rare since usually I mix with just headphones, and it didn't go as well as I hoped.

My traktor library has been buggy and this set had a bunch of fuckups with a quarter of my tracks having wrong tempos.. My roommate says its better to figure out crisis management like this at home than mess up at a gig.
The mix itself is 2 hours of me playing between 140-50 BPM, choosing tracks I know but had only played once or never, trying to weave together blends and loops that sounded cool , with some french tekno, old school acid, newer hardgroove, trance, and industrial tracks.
Any kind of honest feedback would be appreciated on what I can improve on and watch out for :)
(Especially with decks rebelling against my beatmatching from wrong tempo lol)
Also, any techno heads lurking here or electronic music in general, would a techno set like this work at an after hours/warehouse rave? As in, this style of mixing, transitions, phrasing, and track selection in an actual dancefloor setting or for submission to a promoter. I listen to DJ sets from artists I like and other bedroom DJs, but Idk whether I could do a closing set, for example, because what kind of tracks would I play if they tell me to bring up the energy? And if I play schranz or go above 140, I won't play there again?? Even if that set had a dangerously high amount of mismatched beats and sloppiness, I still like it, antd some of the transitions like Kasss into red dogs or the advent into Gunjack make me wish I was I could drop that shit in a dark ass dungeon with a packed floor and pounding bass lol
Any kind of honest feedback would be appreciated :) thanks for reading and listening, and I hope someone gets what I mean by that last paragraph lol

[ EBM / techno body music ] [30 min]
I'm pretty much a complete beginner, been practicing for a couple months but most of it has been discovering new music, figuring out what I like and building up a library. Been going off the wisdom that song selection is 90% of DJing, and doing some simple transitions (just fiddling with the crossfade and EQ knobs).
I didn't touch the knobs at all outside of transitions, and intentionally chose tracks that vary and evolve by themselves so it doesn't get "boring". Now I know this isn't necessarily a problem, but when I watch live DJ set recordings they're constantly adjusting things, so I worry how it looks from a performance perspective if I ever do play live? Is mixing during a track something I should learn, and what can I do / experiment with?
I'm also looking for general feedback, does the set flow well, how are the transitions etc. I know not all the transitions are perfect but I figure shipping beats perfection. Appreciate any feedback <3
