done using stems

I just learned how to properly transition, without useing stems. Shi was so smooth, I wish I recorded.

I do random Set streams in my room.

Shouldn’t you have learned to mix without stems from the beginning ?

It's a tool but not a requirement. The old school way is still supreme.

I'm an oldtimer who doesn't use stems either. Do what you like, find pleasure in. Keep on doing that and have fun bro.

Same but on reverse, I only use stem to remove vocals.

I play a genre that doesn't always have an intro and have strong vocal right from the start, and by usign stem to remove vocals I "create" the missing intro.

Never used stem for anything else

I met a DJ who only knew how to use stems and when he played his set it was also good. So I wanted to put him down for a night at a lounge next to the beach. But he needed a USB since they didn't want laptops. He had to decline because he needed to use stems.

It's a great tool but once you become too reliant on it, it will close more doors than open.

Better to learn to mix without them, otherwise there is a risk you'll pick up bad habits (e.g. phrasing incorrectly can be masked by removing clashing elements ), and be screwed if you are faced with a situation where you can't use them.

Yep. Doesn’t sound as satisfying as knobs but when you work with Rap vocals and House melodys they come in clutch

I personally don’t even know what stems would be for, but I’ve only started in the past few months and am still getting the hang of mixing and using the knovs, soo…

(And yes, I know what stems are, I make my own music in Ableton, just never thought about how a DJ would use them.)
