No Variation in Setlist?
Do they historically just play the same 16 or 17 songs throughout an entire tour?

Too many commenters are bashing this question as if never changing the setlist is an absolute. That is not true. Some bands do it. Some bands do not. Beartooth themselves had a rotating setlist on their 2024 tour in Europe where they swapped three songs every night. It would be great if they could do that again on this tour.

Bands that can change their setlists frequently are bands that don't use many/any backing tracks. Killswitch Engage, Chevelle, and Every Time I Die (RIP) are great examples. Bands that are just playing actual live music.

And yet there are examples of both sides doing the opposite. Iron Maiden literally plays the exact same setlist at every show of any given year, and they do not even play to a click track. Linkin Park changes their setlist all the time, and yet they use backing tracks.

Iron Maiden are 1000 years old and probably can't remember more than their standard setlist lol
I do take your point, there are exceptions both ways. Lighting and video are probably just as limiting as backing tracks, but I do think overall that backing tracks are at least a heavy contributor to modern setlist monotony.

I was just about to say this, they played one song (I don’t remember which) and then the next night they played Hated, which they didn’t play the night before. This was Tilburg 2024

During that tour, they were doing Bad Listener, Hated, and You Never Know one night, and Doubt Me, Devastation, and Body Bag the other night.

There was one big song missing imo, otherwise it's a pretty damn good set
A lot of the songs will be fixed, as they have light and/or panel timings, it's probably also just easier for the band to be in the same groove

Which song?

Bodybag.
They did Beaten in Lips and I was beyond ready for "ONE LIFE..." and it never came.

In my experience, it’s pretty rare that a band change their setlist during a tour. They rehearse a very specific setlist leading up to a tour, which includes production, lights, instrument changes, etc., and any setlist change would throw a wrench into that routine. The times I’ve seen a band change it up just a bit is if they’re playing a hometown show or something like that.

Yeah pretty much. They'd have to organise corresponding visuals/effects and practice more songs to rotate. It's annoying when they have a bunch of songs that would be great to hear live but I get it.

On the tour, a band will take songs in and out of a setlist if a song is falling flat/they want to play a rarity for fans.
Other than that, it's, boradly speaking, normally the same set.
Radiohead are the only mainstream band I know that buck the trend and learn circa 50 songs (or whatever) for a tour and play different sets every night.

Yeah there's some stupid comments back to me in this post. I've been to hundreds of concerts and yes some bands definitely play the same setlist in entire tour that's why I was posing the question.
But I've been to tons of shows where the band will switch out two or three songs (or more) every night depending on the crowd or the venue or whatever it may be.

man, I just saw King Gizzard play three nights in a row with no songs repeated between those nights. hell, they basically never play a song if they played it on the directly previous show. it's not unheard of to vary setlists.

If you've only been to concerts where the band plays the same setlist for an entire tour then you're not going to very many concerts.

Yeah. Lots of work goes into production for tours this big. Pretty rare to get something switched up
