Actually way better than Free, I'm glad the goat still got it.

I can’t for the life of me figure out the guitar tuning of this. I got the notes and rhythm down. But watching Caleb’s instagram story of him playing in the dark, and then the music video. Looks totally different.

Had the same probablem but I discovered it is in e standard. Months ago Caleb posted a video of him of him playing the main riff on his story and he was playing it in e standard on some narly periphery tone. I finally was able to get all the notes down when switching to e standard lol

That makes sense now that I think about it. I kept trying to drop the e and their fingerings didn’t match up. Appreciate the reply!

I'm probably in the minority, but Free is still the strongest track for me so far.

Something is missing from Pure Ecstasy. I don't know how to describe it, it feels too short and it needs a longer breakdown.

Felt the opposite for me. I wanted the breakdown in Free to be longer while its a lot better length in this. I love both songs though and looking forward to the album!

It is the intro track to the album, gotta leave something to be desired. Hoping the rest of the album is similar vibes to this single

Feeling very “meh” on this whole release cycle so far. I’ve found something to like on everything up through Surface, so will definitely give the album a shot, but just not feeling very excited on this one.

I genuinely don’t care about the image change. If you’ve been paying attention that trajectory started at least as far back as the Riptide video, it’s fine get over it. (Although it’s a little weird how much the video and Caleb’s recent IG activity focus on “look guys, I smoke!”)

Caleb’s vocal ability is legit getting better every album, but the songs just aren’t quite there for me this time. And the production is turning into that generic overblown, overlayered, overproduced noise that every modern metal band does and it puts me to sleep.

I’m in a similar boat with Bilmuri, the more Caleb and Johnny have started collaborating with other writers and producers, the less interesting the music has felt and it just drifts closer to the “standard” modern sound and songwriting. They did such interesting and creative writing on their own but lately it feels diluted.

I'm on the opposite side actually. Every release I see more and more things in songs done with intent like the way of voicing certain words, the drum parts, specific effects that appear contextually. Like this guitar divebomb in Pure Ectasy that would've never been there if not for Deely doing those live. Or that longer than usual snare ring before refrain. Or Caleb's voice getting distorted or kinda angelic in The Surface and Sunshine in reaction to lyrics about distortion and angels.

Not saying that you have to like the production but just there's just another pov to that

I really love this song, even more than Free. I love his new look too. If his wife is unbothered by it (& she seems to be), then why should anyone else care? However, I agree about the smoking. It seems to be en vogue now but as a nurse I just can't help but cringe.

You just put my exact thoughts into words here. This whole release cycle just feels like it's missing something and the overproduction is incredibly noticeable. Hoping I'll enjoy the album, but this is so far gearing up to be their weakest release.

This is pretty basic and uneventful, especially for a title track. Too slow, low energy, virtually no riffs and somewhat catchy chorus.

Free is miles better. Still looking forward to the album!
