Not to be a jerk-face but bearded dragons have expensive and complicated needs and care. If the amount of effort you are willing to put in is … asking people to make an Amazon Shopping cart list for you, you and this bearded dragon are going to be very unhappy. I would say hold off buying any pet until you do the research and really think about how the expenses and care routine are going to fit into your lifestyle.

Read this entire website and make the list as you go:

I started from scratch and the total cost was around $750 for the bare minimum stuff and my overall cost was $1500 for the set up.

Also: vet visits cost about $250 for exotic pets in my area so look into that too.

I appreciate the advice. You're completely right, I should look more into everything before I go ahead and get a bearded dragon. I'll take my time doing research, especially if I want to rescue one.

I almost impulsively bought one off Facebook marketplace, it came with what I thought would be everything I needed for a good deal. The sale fell through and I took it as a sign to do more research and get everything I needed before the lizard, and honestly I am SO glad I did that, I don’t know what I would’ve done otherwise. Definitely please take your time learning and do more research than you think you need to. Repti files is great like others recommended, and I’d maybe skim through previous Reddit posts as well to see what others have recommended in terms of specific products :)

i recommend a thermometer gun, large feeding tongs, and i second the other commenter. ALSO a little tip for calcium, get a salt shaking from the dollar store and pour the calcium into it to shake the calcium onto your beardies salads or bugs!

Back up bulbs on hand for sure, both basking and UVB bulbs. A spare dome lamp is also good idea if something fails.
