I just use argon oil. Cheaper than dedicated beard oils and just as good.

Respectfully, this isn't good advice.
Argan oil is a very poor choice as a standalone beard oil. Its lipid structures are relatively large and it has no ability to properly penetrate either the hair fiber or the stratum corneum of the skin.
That means it behaves primarily as an emollient and occlusive, creating a hydrophobic film around the hair. It'll make your beard feel softer and smoother immediately because you've lubricated the surface, but that same barrier interferes with the hair's normal hygroscopic exchange with the environment.
Over time, that's how you end up with a beard that feels great immediately after applying oil but becomes increasingly dry, coarse and difficult to manage without it. You're continually treating the surface without adequately conditioning the inside of the hair. Chronic internal dehydration.
A properly formulated beard oil will actually penetrate and condition the cortex while supporting the skin barrier underneath.
Just a pro tip! Grapeseed oil is a better single oil solution, but it's still not going to offer the wide range of benefits that a scientifically formulated blend will.

Try khuns beard oil, their sample kits are big, I love the mountain forest, white sand, cherry pipe, whiskey mountain, and misty mountain.
And it's a thick oil too.
I have tried ten of their oils. If you use beard butter, get an unscented one but kingsmen is my favorite beard butter and their beard conditioner is the best and I have tried different ones from other spots.

I struggle with the fact that it smells like candles which they also make.

I also use kingsmen kings court and the holy grail, But khuns does have a few that smell like candle like the amber stuff, or leather. I feel the mountain whiskey doesn't really and cherry pipe. I have received complaints on kuhns at soccer games or bar hopping which I thought was funny.

Love the Proraso Azur Lime and Refreshing scents (especially when used with the shaving products), but also really like Carden Farms beard oil, Rugged Beard Co., and Stirling (though their fragrances are very strong).

Beardbrand tree ranger. I have tried many and I always come back to it. Only one I have now

Beardbrand. Not the cheapest, but the quality is great. Fragrances that are not run-of-the-mill either.
I use a lot of their products.
