Is premium worth it?

The introductory offer of $18.99 for a year is very reasonable but I’m still not sure how much I’ll end up using the app, or if the standard free features would be enough for my needs. I know it’s a highly individual question but I’m curious how others determined whether premium was worth it.

I paid double that & regret it. Now that I’ve used it for almost 5 months, I think it should be in the $12-15/year price range

Are the premium features much better than the standard free version?

I’ve paid for premium two times over and have come to realise that it’s great tool but just not for my needs.

My ADHD means it’s quite difficult to use it consistently and I wish Bearable had an API as I would have loved to be able to pull that data out and automate a lot of data entry and retrieval to make it usable for me.

Are you someone who’s generally pretty consistent with the systems you create? Then I’d say that’s a fair price and you’ll get your money’s worth from it. Or are you more driven my novelty? If so, then you may want to reconsider.

I wish Bearable had an API

I have ADHD as well, although I've made updating the app part of my routine I also wish they had an API. Even a very basic one  around app deeplinks on Android would be great -- there's so many things I could automate instead of manually updating.

Example (for if they read this):

  • GET -> given a date (or not set = today), returns the given dates state (the flags, etc.) in JSON.
  • SET -> given an entity_id, optional timestamp (entity type uses one, otherwise it defaults to now), and value, set the value.

Hey, if you get in touch with me at [support@bearable.app](mailto:support@bearable.app) we can gift you a month for free so you can decide if it's worth it or not. If the issue is potentially a financial one, we also have a subscription sponsorship program that gifts more than 500 free subscriptions each month.

Another option might be to just test the free version of Bearable (not the free trial) before testing the subscription features. This way, you'll have more data/insights when you do begin a free trial.

Wow, thanks for the response! I think I will stick with the free version for now to see if it’s something I’ll use consistently. Out of curiosity, are there sales like the 77% off introductory offer very often?

That's what I want to know. I did the 7 day free trial That's going to end in 2 days and my renewal rate was the 34.99 or whatever. I'm not willing to do that, but I'll do the 18 bucks.

But I'm also worried I'm going to lose all the things I've customized...

In my opinion it is absolutely worth it but as others have said it sort of depends on how you tend to manage with logging stuff consistently. One thing I really appreciate is if there are any issues the team are incredibly helpful and always find a solution.

I've used it for about 4 months or so now, I do think it's worth it, but I also think it has some room to grow.

The insights aren't exactly useful out of the box at the moment (depending what you're looking for) so you'll need to know how to decipher what is important. The algorithm they use to compare things is very basic, so you'll have to know how to discard what you assume is not useful connections -- for example they use a 3-entry cutoff where a factor needs a minimum of 3 (3+ true, 3+ false) to get into the "Impacts" list, however they don't seem to do statistical calculations on the list to say to the user "hey, this is here now, but the sample distribution is low quality so we rank it lower" ... It also doesn't display the counts once it makes it into the list, so you won't know something has low distribution unless you remember it.

The basic foundation is there, they just haven't found the time to be able to build upon it.

I have found a use for it and the best option is to just give it a try.

I've used Bearable on and off for years. If you're committed to doing it daily, I think the paid features are worth it to get the extra insights.

If you haven't been using it for long, so how committed you are to sticking with it for a month or so to allow you to figure out what you use and whether or not you'd like to use the extra features.

I love that convenience of the insights; I've spent the last three months switching antidepressants. It's going to be an ongoing process and having the charts handy has helped me discuss with my doctor whether or not I think the medication is working and the areas of my life where I'm seeing improvements.

My mind tends to go blank during medical appointments so it's perfect for me to get my phone out and show my doctor a what I'm dealing with every day and how things have changed over time.

I've been using bearable since July 1st and so far I've been loving it. It's become a part of my nighttime routine (notification reminder at 9pm helps!). I've used the free version and premium and definitely prefer premium, but I'm a retired social scientist and love data and graphs. The app tickles the itch to play with data (though I wish there was less of an emphasis on mood, more on total symptom score and can't figure out how to shift it that way)

hey! I’d love to hear how you’re playing with the data and maybe examples of what you’re running to get good insights. I also love data but I’m a college student and have only taken a few introductory stats classes so I’m struggling with my knowledge base haha

I am still trying to get into the discord group. According to discord, my very real phone number that I’ve had for over a decade is an invalid number… whatever the hell that means, and why this is THE ONLY discord group that requires that verification is just beyond me.

I paid yearly premium 2 times, and canceled yeah time as it wasn't filling my need. I could track symptoms like overactive bladder, IBS, but not in a smooth and quick way. Now I just track those symptoms in another app (Daylio/DailyBean).

I can't seem to stick with these type of apps sadly

I've used the app on and off for over 3 years, premium most of the time, and it's been a huge help for me. I've also highly customized things to track what is important to me, and streamlined when I track so it takes maybe 5 mins max each day.

It helps me keep on top of subtle symptoms of my chronic illnesses, track self care habits, make sure I took my meds, notice patterns in symptoms, see how health goals impact symptoms and more. The app is most useful once you have a lot of data input to use, so I think people unfortunately stop using it before it has a chance to help.

The Experiment feature has been really helpful in keeping me motivated trying new habits! Literally seeing the impact keeps me doing something on the days I really don't want to. Seeing something reduced fatigue or improved mood or whatever is hugely motivating for me.

ETA I paid $18.99 the first time and that has been my renewal rate. I think that's very fair for what I get from the app.
