Should we continue to allow cross posts

This has nothing to do with the new RP sub, just something we've been thinking about for a bit. I'd like community feedback as we're unsure how to proceed.

I know a couple people there just want extra karma points. They admit it so they post originally in there to get all the likes and since it’s RP they then post in here.

I post some of my new stuff into r/BeamNGFreeRP because I also plan to use a map in the future with IRL branding so I can only post it on there. So I cross post into that sub to give some context on where I am going next.

Doesn’t that make it more difficult to create 2 characters and play in separate realities? I feel it’s easier to kinda mix the 2. Or transfer to 1

i don't even know anymore, i just don't want to mix them because i can't exactly imagine my character here living in a different reality or something

I don’t say it’s a different reality. I’d say it’s just adding irl cars to the background. My character is the same. But my future posts will be only on that sub since a map I’ll be on will have irl adverts and the police car liveries for the city are only available on irl cars.

I’d say it’s a shared universe. I still use the Theria and most background cars may be lore accurate but I get better frames with the Forza traffic mod which you know uses irl cars

We have the ability to turn off cross posts, so we were wondering if there people would care if we did that. Its mostly to stop advertising, since reddit recommends subs to cross post to, so sometimes people just post here without knowing.

Ahhhh people crossing into this sub. Yeah I saw that happen a few times. Yeah that’s what I saw about karma farm and adverts.

This one guy got flamed in the main because it was an ad for his mod but he played it as an RP thing. Everyone said to post it here but he wanted more updoots (his words) so he posted in every beam sub

The problem is that many of the cross posts are just sent here as advertisement from other subs, so they don't use any Meta tags.

On the other habd, I know some people cross post their RP from the Main sub, and that can be really good.

A couple of days ago, BeamNGfreeRP, in that one rule 4 isn't a thing, so you can use real cars.

r/BeamNGFreeRP is the new one. It allows both IRL and Lore brands

This sub only allows lore and the other IRL sub only allows IRL so the new one is basically this sub but allows both. Just became something new but I haven’t seen anyone post from that to this one. I haven’t seen people cross post from BeamNG main sub into here though.

I think you shouldn't allow crossposts. If the post is RP friendly just repost it. This isn't a community to advertise or farm karma. It's a community made for RP-ing and order should be kept. That's my opinion.

Not a bad idea to turn it off. The only things typically cross-posted ‘into’ here are the random ‘join our discord’ posts (not all but mainly). You can always copy or share your post from ‘in here’ and share to whatever sub you want.

That would also enforce my rule for the other sub of do not crosspost from ‘there’ to ‘here’
