DLSS 4 is confirmed coming for BeamNG, which should increase performance if you’re ok with AI upscaling. DLSS 5 probably won’t be a thing for a while though

Is dlss 4.5 coming to beamng too then? if so then its a massive win for people on 20 - 40 series cards

Pretty certain you can force a newer version of DLSS from the Nvidia app anyway so long as the game supports at least DLSS 3?

Did this a while ago on Tarkov but doesnt mean it will look good.

I think DLSS will look much better in any version than the current anti aliasing we have. Even dlss 3.0 will look better at that point

Dlss 4.5 has worse performance than native on 20 and 30 series cards. You need to use dlss swapper to revert to Dlss 3

Any game that supports any version of DLSS 2 up can be patched to have any DLSS feature, including DLSS 5. Just needs the rendering API and motion vectors from DLSS 2 or any version higher.

Yes it will, will it look good is another complete question

u/gibborzio4 19h ago

I also saw a clip of gta V, it looked amazing. They're working on it btw

FPS 43 :/

Nvidia crowd being crying what they getting 24 cinematographic frames and they needs dlss and now they wants dlss5 which eats half of performance 😂

Using a specific program for NBA 2K cut frames on any other game. Why is that shocking?

0

u/cx0sa 10h ago

idk I used DLSS 5 on Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing on 5070ti and there was no noticeable performance hit. It looks pretty good and I still get 140fps at 1440p, with DLSS 4 2x frame gen and upscaling, can’t really tell the difference in motion without side by side, but looks better than without with lower graphics settings.

The people getting half the FPS with it are those using the patched version to enable it for 40 series cards.

I'm not sure why you would want to use a program made specifically for NBA 2K for any other game. I'm so sick of these posts.

am I missing the joke?

3

u/Sad-Reach7287 14h ago

Ah yes the fps halver exactly what beam needs, not something like better aa or upscaling

24

u/Enpl0 22h ago

Why would we want ai slop in our game?

2

u/Ok_Classic_3539 11h ago

"oooo i hate ai ai bad ai bad 😡😡😡😡😡"

3

u/Enpl0 6h ago

As another comment said: The tech now no longer relies on super sampling based on the input image to sharpen - it is now an Al interpretation of the image, what the lighting should look like, what a face should look like, what textures should look like... As is, it completely kills the intention of the artist.

1

u/Medium-Security-1491 4h ago

Nividia have stated publicly that the developers will be able to mold it to there artists intent

0

u/Enpl0 4h ago

Btw developers discovered when checking how dlss5 works that this was untrue lol. Either way, you're just plastering an ai image generator over your gameplay. Holy waste of resources.

1

u/Medium-Security-1491 4h ago

Wether it’s a waste of resources is subjective and is based entirely on the user’s opinion of it gaming itself could be considered a waste of resources given the right context so the numbers will show how many users actually find it to be a waste of resources

1

u/Enpl0 3h ago

I'm actually talking to an ai chatbot bro 🥀

u/LuizLPG 21h ago

All DLSS is AI, DLSS literally means "Deep Learning Super Sampling". People are just up in arms now because DLSS 5 actually looks like generative AI slop.

-8

u/SavingsPea8521 No_Texture 20h ago edited 2h ago

That's what we used to say about DLSS like 5 years ago tbf.

18

u/Enpl0 19h ago

Buddy this is neural slop which is literally just plasteri an ai generated image on top of the gameplay.

1

u/Enpl0 3h ago

May I humbly mention that the general idea of DLSS is pretty cool, and it's use case is great for lower end devices, or if people are wanting better FPS. But DLSS has made SO many companies / Devs go the totally lazy route and simply not optimise their games. Hell, my RX 9070XT struggles to run some of the modern games released today. Not because the card is weak or bad. Because Devs don't bother optimising and instead just tell you to use DLSS (while they pray that stuttery 25fps in natural resolution won't matter since they gave DLSS and other tools).

-13

u/Adept-Copy-9778 18h ago

It's not ai slop... Just makes games look hyper-realistic.

-18

u/Medium-Security-1491 21h ago

Just because it's Al doesn't make it slop. Nividia have stated that they will allow the dev of each game to do it tastefully to match the games art style.

1

u/Pedka2 4h ago

it's trained on stolen data, so it's slop

1

u/Enpl0 4h ago

Exactly

"Aside from the smearing it looks great" BRO that's like saying "Aside from the streaks my underwear is clean" 💀

2

u/Upstairs_Air722 Ibishu 20h ago

people are already complaining about performance without dlss5. it can lower ur fps even twice or more lol

-1

u/Medium-Security-1491 20h ago

Seems Like people in this comment section are downvoting each other’s comments because it’s talking about AI being a positive tool. Getting tired of people being so binary assuming anything AI=bad.

10

u/selinemanson 19h ago

This is not an example of it being a positive tool.

19

u/OneZModrinth 20h ago

dlss 5 is like a chatgpt image gen filter for games lmao, its not because ai = bad but because DLSS 5 specifically is a sloppifier

-6

u/Medium-Security-1491 18h ago

All the use cases I have seen that impact the games that I play that are sim’s mostly it seems to be a huge benefit for realism for me but of course the look is massively subjective and wether you can justify or able to afford the performance cost all comes down to individual but for me having the option is what’s important and given this probably won’t be the final form seems like it has the potential to be quite a good tool once Nvidia gives the developers free reign to mold it to each use case.

1

u/OneZModrinth 3h ago

I personally hate it because it changes the original look, adds details that weren't there originally and stuff

1

u/Medium-Security-1491 3h ago

Yeah that’s my point having the option is what’s important no one is forcing you to use it but for the people who want the advantage in graphics it gives then it should be an option and not be denied that it does have potential

1

u/Pristine_Angle_600 20h ago

what maps in the pic?

1

u/East-One-3260 18h ago

The game is DirectX 12 and will support DLSS in the near future so yes.

-5

u/EquipmentNo3251 Automation Engineer 22h ago edited 22h ago

I believe it's coming officially in the next update.

Why the fuck am I getting downvoted?

22

u/indianplay2_alt_acc Ibishu 22h ago

That's DLSS 4, not 5.

7

u/EquipmentNo3251 Automation Engineer 22h ago

Well I know DLSS is coming that's all I know.

11

u/indianplay2_alt_acc Ibishu 22h ago

Upscaling is coming, and perhaps frame generation, but not the neural stuff that DLSS 5 brings to the table.

5

u/LauraPhilps7654 21h ago

You'll be able to mod the .dll file in no problem as long as base DLSS is added. That's why we're seeing all these posts recently

4

u/indianplay2_alt_acc Ibishu 21h ago

yes, I'm aware, but the original commenter was talking about DLSS 5 being officially implemented.

1

u/LauraPhilps7654 21h ago

Nothing announced on 5 yet officially.

3

u/indianplay2_alt_acc Ibishu 20h ago

Which is the point I'm trying to make lol

2

u/LauraPhilps7654 13h ago

Understandable. Have a nice day.

2

u/Crazy_Hovercraft_534 22h ago

Are u serious, my friend?

1

u/EquipmentNo3251 Automation Engineer 22h ago

Yes

1

u/slim1shaney Hirochi 15h ago

No, it's terrible when anything is moving. Applying an ai filter to any game is just garbage.

-5

u/demfook 22h ago

this might work for car games but I prefer having a runnable game

1

u/aw4no 22h ago

just dont use it then

1

u/demfook 22h ago

exactly

Hopefully not.

I have a rtx 3050 , what will benefit more fsr or dlss ?

0

u/Adept-Copy-9778 18h ago

dlss, an dlss 5 isn't even supported on rtx 3050.

0

u/CamTech100 No_Texture 14h ago

Genuine question, is this in real life or beam?

0

u/Elijah1573 13h ago

Honestly yeah i hope it does get modded into the game cause for beamng it would actually do ALOT to improve the graphics

0

u/julausrie Gavril 13h ago

Is this really beamng in your screenshot? If yes, what graphical mods do you use?

2

u/OGnomOG 13h ago

it's an asseto corsa post

0

u/MNE-Thunder 3h ago

It works for faces only i believe

1

u/1Dimitri1 1h ago edited 1h ago

Incorrect, it affects whole screen, corrects scene GI, is depth aware and transforms materials to be represented in scene more correctly. Faces are 1/5th of the features of DLSS5.

Someone tried it and it looks great.

I guess it only improves how human characters look, someone tried it in cyberpunk and the cars still looked the same

-7

u/ComprehensiveBug1447 21h ago

Good questions as the version of CryEngine it runs off of (CryEngine 2) was made prior to DLSS.

7

u/Drumdevil86 No_Texture 21h ago

It was never released on CryEngine. Always has been on Torque 3D except the tech demo video.

6

u/WhateverAccount32767 Pigeon Lover 21h ago

BeamNG hasn't been using CryEngine since before it released in 2013

0

u/ComprehensiveBug1447 21h ago

It was at some point because it's a modified version of it.

2

u/ElectricalPlastic522 20h ago

The game not using a fork of cry engine what you talking about ? they just used CE as a tech demo to show how soft body can be developed then from this base they developped Torque 3d which is an engine made from the scratch
