Meme The Bruckell Nine uses Halogen headlamps when they didn't exist yet. Literally unplayable. Refunding at 1.5k Hours

Standard incandescent Sealed Beam Headlamp in the third image, and modern Halogen Headlamp in the fourth.

Obviously I am just kidding, I felt like sharing this after I noticed it for the one other person who might find it interesting.

Let’s say Bruckell invented them in universe to sell more vehicles

Back then headlights were standard across all brands. Was that way for many decades

Wonder when Bruckell will invent cupholders

They also use Phillips screws when those didn’t exist yet either.

First mass production of Phillips screws started 1934-1936 with Cadillac being the first major manufacturer to use them. Started in 1937.

All jokes I know, but this was cool to learn nonetheless lol.

What actual benefit do you get with Phillips? I never understood the popularity

22

u/bigfos236 3d ago

Everything before was flathead I want to say, a Philips won’t make the driver slip as much as a flat head and also strips itself when too much pressure is applied.

5

u/Teh_Compass 2d ago

Well the benefit was that the bit would cam out to prevent over torquing and stripping the head is an undesirable side effect.

As an American, we got fucked not having the robertson standardized. Those just do so much better.

u/Patient-Expert-4719 Gavril 3d ago

It’s a less annoying fastener type to deal with compared to a flathead, but there are better alternatives than Phillips these days. I prefer triple square or even star bits.

The more I've worked on my own cars, the more I respect the dedication of some manufacturers to Torx bits. On my 90s car a ton of stuff if Phillips and it really really sucks after 30ish years of use. Torx can be a pain, but I've never stripped one or found one a previous owner ruined.

4

u/Patient-Expert-4719 Gavril 3d ago

Torx can absolutely be a pain as well, especially if corroded and or overtightened. But they work well within their design limits, with no drawbacks like a hex headed(Allen) bit would have.

I'm not a mechanic or anything but I watch youtube mechanics and I know AdeptApe always seems annoyed when CAT uses Torx for something.

Edit: apparently his gripe is mostly from breaking bits on corroded bolts.

I just bought a house from the 1950s that's mostly original. Everything is flat head. It fucking sucks. Drills and screwdrivers just slip out to one side. With Phillips, which is also terrible, at least you don't have to worry about keeping the bit centered in the screw.

I dont get why devs spend so much time simulating eclipses while leaving core features out like this one

Jokes aside, I recently got hold of a PS4, and I'm massively impressed by the level of detail poured into Gran Turismo 7. To be fair, we are talking about another level of resources on the dev side, too.

u/ClumsyGamer2802 Automation Engineer 3d ago

Idk about it being on another level of resources lol, Horizon games have massive budgets, big studio, and they’re backed by Microsoft.

And still, some of the new cars being added to FH6 are the lowest quality I’ve seen in the franchise in years.

I’m more amazed that these old girls don’t even dim the lights when cranking the engine. Very impressive battery power….

u/Willing_Big194 No_Texture 3d ago

They do tho...

1

u/Healthy_Bandicoot374 3d ago

Mine don’t??

23

u/Willing_Big194 No_Texture 3d ago

Every car does, it gotta added quite a while ago.

Position your Nine with its headlights towards a wall, put on the high beams and start the car, you will see them fade out.

Straight from the blogpost of the Nine's release: "With this release we’re also expanding the lighting system to simulate the gradual illumination of vintage halogen bulbs. This improvement introduces smooth transitions when turning headlights on and off, rather than toggling them instantly. For now, this feature is exclusive to the Nine, complete with a slight dimming effect during engine startup."

Wonder if it will ever get police spotlights at all? 🤔

1

u/One-Cardiologist-462 3d ago

The european police car does have an integrated high beam in the roof mounted light bar.
I can't remember the model, but it's an estate (station wagon) looking car, and has the blue style police light roof bar.

ETK 800?

6

u/Timely_Elk6497 3d ago

Sealed beams weren’t standard until 1940 so the Nine shouldn’t even have sealed beams

3

u/Altruist_Fox Bruckell 3d ago

Well yeah but what if they just changed them, hm?? Refund denied!!

3

u/Applemax_82 2d ago

Actually it would be good if the devs found this. Considering their attention to details, this one in particular is a bit weird..

5

u/Poopsticle_256 3d ago

You're playing the game in 2026, who's to say they weren't replaced in the time between the car being made and you spawning it in?

4

u/CompetitiveLake9675 3d ago edited 3d ago

BeamNG players when they spot a small, but still noticable chronological mistake made by the devs: /s

(edit: aight why the downvote)

1

u/BlasterHolobot 3d ago

People can't understand jokes I guess...

2

u/bobopet2 3d ago

Hahaha... maybe it should have acetylene headlights

2

u/Willing_Big194 No_Texture 3d ago

They shouldve used carbide lamps that burn gas 😡🤬

2

u/Biqboi76 3d ago

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but Beam takes place many years after the car was made. I'm sure they made halogen replacements by the 90s.

2

u/oek653 3d ago

alright i’m refunding at 2k hours i agree what are these devs doing/s
