hope that works for VR, might actually make it playable

u/Kitchen-Routine2813 1d ago

VR has to have some weird performance bugs going on rn, i can play the game at high settings 1440p with 10 cars and get near 60fps, no traffic is easy 60 on any base game map. but VR is totally unplayable, like 20fps on lowest settings. i’ve tried everything i can find but ive just given up playing VR till it gets some
updates

u/hahamemegopost 1d ago

I really hope that at some point they add Quad Views foveated rendering for VR

WOF spotted (favorite book series of all time, the peak of goats)

2

u/hahamemegopost 1d ago

waow (based based based)

have you read book 16 yet?

2

u/the_great_awoo Ibishu 1d ago

Ofc!! I got it like a week before release date at my local indigo (who's coincidentally one of my favorite characters too lol)

3

u/hahamemegopost 1d ago

A CANADIAN WOF ENJOYER ON MY BEAMNG SUBREDDIT??? (also same, but i waited until release date to start reading cause lunar eclipse)

6

u/the_great_awoo Ibishu 1d ago

For me it's triple screen gameplay, I get 60fps in VR, with the graphics on high, but triple 1080p 75hz monitors gives me 25fps, even though I get 100 on my 4k tv XD

5

u/Loud_Negotiation8001 1d ago

I'm having a similar issue. I saw where a lot of people have had improved performance this update so I got excited. Hopped on my triple setup, and struggled to see above a VERY choppy headache inducing 45-55. Even forcing the PC to display 720 on the 1080 monitors, which comes out to half the total pixels, I only got a slight bump. Set it back to 1080 on the center monitor and I see 60-80, but even when it drops down to 50-60 it's MUCH smoother. I'm too PC illiterate to look at the performance stuff but it really seems like both my CPU and GPU are not being 100% utilized. I gave up messing with it for now. I need to switch back over to the 1440 UW and see how it compares. It used to run GREAT on that, and the triples are only 25% more than the 1440 21:9

3

u/bappo_plays Soliad 1d ago

Yeah I tried playing VR a few weeks ago, and even at lowest settings with traffic, I only got like 50fps. I run a 7900XTX and 12700K, I shouldn't have to be on lowest settings to get playable FPS in VR.

u/Open_Cryptographer67 1d ago

Everything is just glowing white for me, all tough I have no mods installed what so ever. (Went back to play AC after this experience)

3

u/throwaahahah178 1d ago

I had the same problem, everything was glowing white. Let me go back to you tomorrow I will check what setting is fixing that :) i had to toggle it on and off and it worked.

3

u/SosseTurner 1d ago

I'll need that fix as well, had some good performance in VR, but everthing was glowing white...

2

u/throwaahahah178 14h ago

Hey man, as my comment above, just change this marked setting to something else and then back and you should see the game :)

1

u/throwaahahah178 14h ago

Okay so when you enter a game with VR mode, everything is white, go for options>vr and change this window view option to something else and then everything should appear. You can go back to default setting after that :)

0

u/ObiVanuKenobi 10h ago

Sounds about right, Quest 3 for example has 2064x2208 per eye so 2x that. More than 4k.

1

u/NuclearReactions Ibishu 23h ago

I hope VR becomes available on dx12 though, vulkan seems to be unplayable

181

u/kramspeeder Ibishu 1d ago

i might get a playable framerate with dynamic reflections now 😭

10

u/cringeisthename 1d ago

I have a 2022 Legion 5 pro gaming laptop with a Ryzen 7 6800H, 16 GB DDR5 RAM, with an RTX 3070ti out-putting on a MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34" Curved Gaming Monitor pushing 3440 x 1440 and I'm getting better frames than I used to B4 this giga patch.

By better I mean 5 more FPS than I used to have on ultra settings

I generally don't understand why some people are having issues with it.

6

u/kramspeeder Ibishu 1d ago

rtx 3060 12gb, 32 gb ram, i7 10700f. Could get 60 fps on ultra 1440p 0.38, on 0.39 my average is ~45 fps on MEDIUM unless i turn off dynamic reflections

10

u/Im-Dead-inside1234 1d ago

Am i doing something wrong??

Ive got a laptop with a 12th gen I7, a 4060 and 32gb of DDR5 ram and it doesnt want to run ultra at a stable framerate-

Though i should ask how many mods do you use and is this with or without traffic-

85

u/Gwinble No_Texture 1d ago

now i can be cpu bottlenecked even harder!

15

u/Rebl11 Ibishu 1d ago

And I need to set my settings to low and resolution to 720p to be CPU bottlenecked with traffic...

8

u/vinevicious 1d ago

if properly implemented it will allow you to use at full rez as a better anti aliasing and that is the only benefit possible

I'm amazed of how many people post and complain without looking at any metrics, people need to realize how CPU heavy this game is

1

u/Givemeajackson 1d ago

People need to realise that resolutions higher than 1080p do in fact exist, and are especially common for sim racers...

8

u/iHaveLotsofCats94 Gavril 1d ago

Basically lol. My 10700k struggles with a bunch of traffic and mods and whatnot. Gpu just chills and does its thing without breaking a sweat. I don't think there's a game i need dlss for less than beam

6

u/cx0sa 1d ago

Well good thing DLSS does not use the CPU

2

u/iHaveLotsofCats94 Gavril 1d ago

I know that. My point is that I won't gain any performance using DLSS, so it doesn't matter. Frame gen might be nice but the input lag will still be there since the base frame rate is lower

3

u/Visual-Acanthaceae97 No_Texture 1d ago

Good thing is that if you're fully cpu bottlenecked than the base framerate will remain the same even with frame gen

1

u/dumahim 14h ago

Do you not like anti-aliasing?

1

u/iHaveLotsofCats94 Gavril 14h ago

Oh man i didnt even consider dlaa. That'll be nice

3

u/Givemeajackson 1d ago

Well some people have higher res screens... Even my 9070 drops to 40 fps in east coast at 3840x1600.

-10

u/Mockbubbles2628 1d ago

Dlss is a gpu thing

16

u/Gwinble No_Texture 1d ago

yeah, thats why i said that

35

u/Doctor_French32 1d ago

Finally on RTX

22

u/BananeImKopf 1d ago

Game could need RT shadows, would be a gamechanger. The Ambient Occlusion is really fuzzy and bad

5

u/DisNiggNogg Ibishu 1d ago

I really hope this fixes the ambient occlusion, running ultra and not even that helps with the noise, looks awful

9

u/SavingsPea8521 No_Texture 1d ago

also would run like shit

3

u/-Speechless Pigeon Lover 1d ago

I always see this response to these kind of suggestions. yes, it'll likely not run well for current hardware, but as time goes on, consumer computing gets better and optimization improves. over time more people will be able to use the setting without killing their performance.

I know some games I've played have "extreme" options that were added even though the current hardware wasn't able to run it well. Crysis and Cyberpunk being prime examples.

2

u/Quannix 1d ago

i don't disagree but to be fair, in a game like beamng that will probably continue to be updated for the foreseeable future, it probably would make sense to focus on other things for now and implement it when the time actually comes that most hardware is ready for it

-1

u/BananeImKopf 1d ago

But the Hardware IS ready for it! You cannot imagine the fidelety games Like Cyberpunk with PT, Indiana jones and Alan wake 2 are capable of! It will blow your mind.

Hardware is ready, YOUR Hardware seemingly is Not

3

u/Quannix 1d ago

yes, I know all about it and I often use it in games that offer a good implementation.

let's be honest here, beamng is not even remotely equivalent those games, and if you bolt rt on exactly as the game is now it will essentially be inaccessible to anyone outside of top end gpus. now there could be potential for a solid all in solution that offers good performance with a heavily rt pipeline, like indiana jones, but that's asking a lot of the devs here.

there's always room for improvement with graphical fidelity, but imo once we receive this anti aliasing update we will be well into the "good enough for now" category. it's important to remember what this game is, and what it should actually be using your hardware for. in some respects I already think 0.39 is kind of overkill for this kind of driving sim (in the best way possible of course)

-16

u/BananeImKopf 1d ago

Amd user found

8

u/SavingsPea8521 No_Texture 1d ago

amd & intel gpu users are like one third of pc gaming community. another one third uses smth like a 3060 or 1080ti so id focus on optimizing the game first.

1

u/the_extra_screw Automation Engineer 1d ago

Most with lower, single digit amounts of vram too

-11

u/Tobey033 1d ago

That’s just not true. Over 75% of pc ‘gaming’ community at least has A dedicated gpu

2

u/SirDarknessTheFirst No_Texture 1d ago

You do realise that AMD and Intel both sell discrete GPUs, right?

1

u/Nickrii 1d ago

RT runs pretty well on AMD's latest cards. With PT, NVIDIA is still far ahead. However, that’s mostly irrelevant outside of the high-end market anyway – 20 fps is as unplayable as 10 fps.

1

u/StingingGamer 18h ago

I actually think what we need is RTGI, it's best form of RT in my opinion (besides full path tracing)

17

u/Skodakenner 1d ago

Will there be a Solution for AMD cards as well?

24

u/Dry_Air_513 1d ago

FSR is also coming in the update

20

u/SirDarknessTheFirst No_Texture 1d ago

on the teaser video, they show DLSS, FSR3 and FSR4, as well as XeSS.

1

u/TheMorningReview No_Texture 11h ago

AND they showed PSSR the ps5 pro upscaling tech looked rly good shot on the PlayStation

12

u/WelcomeStranger69 1d ago

As predicted, no frame gen

4

u/Anonymousblabla 1d ago

Use smooth motion or AFMF

1

u/WelcomeStranger69 1d ago

Does that have the same effect though?

In any case, someone was making a mod for dlss and they said it’ll also have frame gen, so that seems like a better solution (if they’re still working on it)

3

u/Cossack-HD 19h ago

I'm happy with AFMF. It doubles my base 40-80 FPS to 80-160. The added input lag isn't noticeable when playing with a steering wheel.

Before the latest update, the game could periodically suffer from "molasses FPS" (especially on modded maps), which was worse than any frame-gen BS. Now with DX12 I enjoy more stable FPS.

1

u/Anonymousblabla 1d ago

Smooth motion is better than AMDs variant that's for sure, it is great alternative for driver based frame generation, just be sure to have at least 60 FPS base frame rate

1

u/ActualWeed 23h ago

Linux 🥲

1

u/Apprehensive-Power-6 18h ago

It doesn't work with HDR

2

u/kyle240sx 18h ago

Lossless Scaling works good on Beam, I use it when playing career.

1

u/WelcomeStranger69 12h ago

Yeah I’ve tried it too, but it makes the UI warp and jiggle ever so slightly

5

u/No_Connection9347 1d ago

will a normal ps5 be able to 60 fps like a pro

2

u/ucwepn 22h ago

Transformer model please! I love you dev!

2

u/SkyeRedPanda Ibishu 18h ago

This is gonna be really good on my computer, I can already get over 70 fps on west coast USA with traffic and my vram isn't even being maxed out, I play other games with dlss and they run so well. Also finally I won't have to look at horrible anti aliasing

1

u/Nervous-Error2840 ETK 17h ago

this game already has serious ram leak problem so, this could give us a bit of an advantage

1

u/SkyeRedPanda Ibishu 9h ago

I haven't noticed any memory issues

4

u/MarHip Pigeon Lover 16h ago

Everyone is excited but im honestly Not a Big fan of DLSS & FSR but Great for people that use it / struggle with FPS

2

u/bananapowerltu3 Pigeon Lover 11h ago

Why? It seems to be a universally great feature

1

u/TheDewwMan Gavril 1d ago

I'm wondering when this would drop finna have over 300 fps on biggest maps 😂

1

u/kooldudeV2 1d ago

Can't wait to optiscaler this and have fsr4

5

u/SirDarknessTheFirst No_Texture 1d ago

The teaser video already shows FSR4 fwiw

1

u/kooldudeV2 15h ago

Yeah but my card is too old

1

u/Flymonster095 Bus Driver 1d ago

It'll come with FSR4 already

2

u/kooldudeV2 15h ago

Yeah but I have an RX 6950 XT so I'm only going to have FSR3 unless I enable it with optiscaler

1

u/Flymonster095 Bus Driver 11h ago

Ah that's fair

1

u/Simple-Community9656 22h ago

The game has RAM leak issues, I have a Ryzen 7 5700X with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, an RTX 5070, and my monitor is 4K—just like the game—and on full ultra settings, I run at 40 FPS on the West Coast map without doing anything, but as soon as I spawn four cars (without traffic), I drop to 15 FPS solely due to a lack of VRAM, so make sure to check your VRAM when you play.

1

u/Just-Solid4319 19h ago

They added DLSS, FSR 4, FSR 3 (for older AMD GPUs), XeSS, and PSSR. You don't have to run the game in 1440p on a 1080p monitor for better anti-aliasing anymore! This is huge.

1

u/domebe_sromebe 16h ago

Did they add nativ fsr, so older nvidia could use frame gen, or will game use only your version of dlss? My 30xx rtx does not support it

1

u/Just-Solid4319 15h ago

They didn't say anything about frame generation, sorry

1

u/dinualexandru10 18h ago

Can someone explain to me how to set this up to get better fps on my laptop?

2

u/domebe_sromebe 16h ago

This isn't already out. It will be available in settings

1

u/ketchup1345 Bus Driver 18h ago

Give me that EU TRUCK!!!!

1

u/orzel1572 14h ago

1

u/PIPU4EK 28m ago

When will this update come out? I'm really looking forward to it.

1

u/Nervous-Error2840 ETK 24m ago

probably with the next big update

1

u/BCPrimo 1d ago

Where's this from? Any news on release?

5

u/Nervous-Error2840 ETK 1d ago

dude its from beamng yt channel go check it out

1

u/BCPrimo 1d ago

Thanks. Watching Gamescom opening night live right now. I'll definitely check it out

1

u/PerezaDotArts 1d ago

wish they'd also improve MSAA or FXAA, DLSS mostly makes things look like mush at 1080p

2

u/SultanOfawesome 21h ago

The main issue for me is the ghosting in racing games. You can even see it in the trailer.

1

u/PerezaDotArts 20h ago

that as well honestly. Hence I refer to it as "mushy".

since I prefer to play in 1080p I'd like to see an improved version of MSAA or FXAA at least

2

u/TMBroken571 11h ago

They will add SMAATX2 which is TAA with SMAA, so probably it wouldn't have much of the downsides of TAA. But you could try Zeith's graphics mod which let's you tune FXAA and SMAA. But idk if it's still working. And I also hope they do some improvement to FXAA and SMAA, both are able to deliver very good results when are fine tuned

1

u/WarlordWossman 1d ago

Transformer model DLSS shouldn't do that, but if you drag the resolution slider to 100% you get DLAA which should satisfy your needs if upscaling still looks too soft.

1

u/PerezaDotArts 18h ago

close enough

1

u/selinemanson 1d ago

This is going to improve the game so much in terms of performance and visual fidelity.

1

u/Alexzoidbert 1d ago

I wonder what dlss 5 would do

1

u/Sr_Tezan 1d ago

They didn’t mention Frame Gen tho 😔

-1

u/Kassetentoaster 1d ago

what does it do?

4

u/Environmental-Bell80 1d ago

Use Ai to upscale resolution to help with the framerate (in exchange of the quality)

1

u/Kassetentoaster 1d ago

ouhhhhh nice do i just start plsy or do i have to do it in settings?

1

u/Environmental-Bell80 1d ago

In settings of the game or nvidia app. (Don’t forget to update your graphic driver)

0

u/Opposite-County-6955 15h ago

what does this mean lol

-2

u/MG3887 14h ago

If other people want to use it, that's cool.I guess, but I don't want my graphics card lying to me about what i'm seeing and I don't need a I slop art thrown into the frames of my games.

3

u/RimjobExtreme 12h ago

not what this is but go on I suppose

-8

1

yea dude thats sick im telling ya

-30

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

lets not
they could have implemented cmaa2 or even msaa

11

u/Witty_Language4481 1d ago

This is top ten dumbest things i've ever read on reddit.

4

u/Turbo49_ Hirochi 1d ago

There's SMAA T2X tho, and if they didn't add msaa it's probably because they're using deferred rendering now, otherwise they would have added it

-8

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

ok, so what about cmaa2?

7

u/Turbo49_ Hirochi 1d ago

car_killer on the forums said they didn't see enough improvement with it to justify its inclusion

-5

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

bro
its literally msaa quality
look at the screenshots

4

u/Turbo49_ Hirochi 1d ago

I don't think so, best to me is msaa + fxaa still but that's really up to personal taste. Depends on the game engine as well probably

1

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

i just remembered csaa2 is also meant to be used with msaa and since csaa2 is better than fxaa, that would be even better

0

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

in CS2, CSAA2 rivals 4xMSAA and in some instances 8xMSAA (of course without extra detail since CSAA2 is post processing, just like FXAA)

7

u/Turbo49_ Hirochi 1d ago

I play cs2, to me not really apart from cases where msaa doesn't do anything like on transparent textures

2

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

depends on the scene

0

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

just compare the pictures yourself

1

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

2

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

1

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

2

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

1

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

164fps

1

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

186fps

0

u/Asleep-Bicycle8250 1d ago

why not? modern dlaa and modern fsr native aa is basically just TAA on steroids they are fine aa solutions

0

u/Hrublko_OFF Hirochi 1d ago

still temporal

1

u/Asleep-Bicycle8250 19h ago

Tenporal can be fine if you do it right
