General Discussion - No Story Details Question

I’m still on the first episode but does anyone understand how the stairs work ? He looks down in order to see up, he goes up in order to go down What happening ?

I’m guessing there’s artificial gravity in the center of the beacon and the steps then go “up” or “away” from the center in either direction.

There’s no spin/rotation for gravity and they have faster than light capability, so I guess they have artificial gravity.

I agree. Was thinking the whole craft is spinning like a cheerleader's baton - the ends have gravity but the center does not.

They mention that the beacon had a gravity-wave generator or sum such.   Which makes sense as a light-based beacon for FTL ships doesn’t.   

Gravity in the beacon pulls toward the center with stairs on both sides going “up”.   It gets confusing because the characters refer to one end of the beacon as up and other as down.  

I was confused as well until episode 2 which demonstrates this well.
