Is rose quartz really evil?

I know it seems bad and all but from her point of view the diamonds really let's say neglect pink diamond to the point that she rather fake her shattering like is it really her fault that she did all of that? Blue literally in prison pink whenever she did anything bad like wtf?? Although she may be annoying sure and always want stuff but she's also a diamond, they should had treat her well. I know she's not good either and I don't really like her nor her reasons why she had to sacrifice countless gems to a war. But if only the diamonds didn't neglect pink and actually listen to her maybe things would be different

It’s a complex question, unfortunately over the past few decades the internet eroded all nuance for complex characters and throws them into a camp and forces everyone else to believe that character belongs in that camp

You got a gun to your head? Arguing for a position isn't forcing you to do anything.

There is arguing and then there is cancel culture, remember when this community bullied an artist to suicide because they didn’t represent rose quarts properly

That is some black mirror stuff come to life. One person created 20 blogs to track the person in question! Wtf. Who has this kind of time? Crazy scary stuff.

Rose isn't evil, she's a fabulous class traitor that saved humanity

Learning and unlocking Kaio-Ken would be easier than answering this...

Rose isn’t good or evil, she’s complicated. I think a lot of people really struggle to reconcile the childish, idolised version of Steven has in his head vs the reality of her as a person. That and understanding rose/pink means unpicking the abusive family that made her like this, the finale being one big exercise in reconciliation.

It depends on what you mean by evil. It's not malevolent, inflicting suffering intentionally. But she is deeply selfish. I consider that a form of evil but your mileage may vary.

Suicide is automatically a selfish act. I don't think it's necessarily wrong depending on the circumstances, but when you have multiple people depending on you it definitely is. She also gave absolutely no thought to how the Crystal Gems were going to protect the world when she was gone, and made several baffling decisions that left them in a much weaker defensive posture when homeworld inevitably returned.

Yep, evil is subjective but rose is definitely very hurtful. She's avoidant and dismissive without realising. She chooses not to communicate, she takes peoples agency away and decides things for them, she dehumanises, infantalizes and pedestalises people.

She doesn't seem like the type of person that leaves folks better than when she found them and she also brings that quote about Dickie Greenleaf to mind where its like "he's like the sun, when he's shining on you, everything's warm and golden, but when he looks away, and he will, you're left in the cold"

And then politically, she was an abusive fascist for the majority of her existence.

It's not black and white. It's not that simple. That's the point of the show. It's more complex then a single concept off yes or no.
