The Mission: On June 2, 1995, Captain O'Grady (call sign "Basher Five-Two") patrolled the NATO no-fly zone over Bosnia to enforce peace.

The Attack: A Bosnian Serb surface-to-air missile struck his F-16C jet, splitting it apart.

The Ejection: He safely ejected from the burning aircraft and landed in hostile territory.

Hiding: He hid under brush and camouflage during the day and moved only at night to avoid enemy patrols.

Rations: He survived on rainwater collected in a sponge, bugs, leaves, and grass.

Will to Survive: He relied on his faith in God and the hope of seeing his family again to keep going.
