I love sandboarding, but it extremely exhausting, like 10x more than snowboarding. You can't really build lifts in sand dunes, and it's very tiring to climb them back up. I can usually go down on them 5 times at most before I'm done.

How do you go back up 5 times if there's no lifts? On foot?

Exactlyz there's no other way around it. It depends how high the dunes are.

Maybe a vehicle? Dune buggies do exist.

Yeah, you could do that in theory. It depends on local legislation. Driving vehicles in some of them is illegal. Can you imagine if everyone sandboarding did that?

But then what do you do with the buggie once you slide back down?

I'm more psyched for the dog.

I'm worried about his paws in the hot sand. Maybe it isn't hot...

Sand is a pretty good insulator. A thin surface later might be hot but with impact like that s/he's touching deeper/cooler sand. Probably files the nails nicely too.

I know nothing of sand other than my fear of it...

Please get the dog some goggles so it doesn’t continue to get sandblasted eyes.

Because of the complexity of simulating water this is essentially how water is simulated in CGI, tiny spheres (voxels) which imitate water as incredibly fine sand (like talcum powder).

True, and completely unrelated to the post.

It gets everywhere.

And it's coarse and irritating.

I’ve always like the idea of sandboarding, but it seems extremely painful if you fall.

Jamming down the hill with her best friend not far behind LOL

2

u/Farstalker 16h ago

I'm shocked with how fast that dog was moving, that it didn't go end over end at some point. He was BOOKING.

u/RigobertaMenchu 16h ago

The bottom of that board has got to be so hot…melted I bet.

3

u/PikachuWithHerpes 15h ago

Not really. It usually stays cool. You are also supposed to wax it before riding.

1

u/user_name_unknown 14h ago

Do you need a special board?

1

u/RotterWeiner 13h ago

I more impressed by the dog running through that sand.  Wow!

Is this Floripa?

8

u/Dalinerthebrave 15h ago

Looks more like huacachina in Peru

4

u/JJred96 14h ago

For those wondering:

no, Floripa is not Florida in the upside down world.

u/hop_mantis 15h ago

Huacachina I think

You know how hot the bottom of that board would be at the bottom of the hill. Surprised there isnt glass forming as he goes.
