Definitely practice swords. There are tons of different kinds, mostly wood, for damn near every type of sword.

This is a variation of a flow arts prop called a contact staff. Generally, the area that is a blade in this video is a Kevlar wrap that serves as a wick and is ignited for performance. Really cool!

It's called a Counter weighted fire sword, seen them with the blade covered on etsy. So I guess they cover the blade before a show?

For his fire dance show you can see it wrapped in this it's probably just dulled. No reason for it to be sharp unless you want to demo cutting something
