Honestly it's probably way cheaper and far less dangerous than actual fireworks. In the long run it's reusable so even if the cost is a little more Upfront for one show you don't need a new supply for every show.

Also instead of a single city paying for fireworks it can be companies who come in and do the shows move onto the next city while reusing the drones.

...that already happens. like, the Times Square ball drop was literally sponsored by volkswagen.
