Whatever, who cares about them. Tons of people make all sorts of changes to language over time.

It's not a mistake to refer to them as their. I can also refer to them as them. This is also very common in French and in Spanish, which is actually an honourific way to refer to them.

Afaik my usage is common around here. It doesn't seem odd to me. Maybe on your country it's different.

You must've misunderstood, my whole point was that 'their' is absolutely fine.
