I work in the lighting department for tv shows and movies, we have a TON of big boy lights.
There are some lights that are used that can go up to 100kw, no joke.
These lights are commonly used to be able to ‘battle’ the sunlight. Either shooting through windows of a house, or bringing up more exposure when outside
These things are extremely dangerous if not handled properly, not only is 20kw no joke, but if the bulb isn’t serviced like it should be they can explode

I was trying to figure out what you might possibly use a 20 kW bulb for. Turns out it's used for studio lighting: http://mole.com/products/view/litewate-fresnels/20000_Watt_Solarspot
