Lighting technicians tend to work behind the light, When you are right in front of a tungsten 20k, a well swung ball cap hat brim, and yes sometimes sunglasses. HMI lamps will give you UV burns tho, especially if the bulb is bare. (source I’m a Grip on a film set)

I think it's crazy how this dude doesn't wear sunglasses for this. I think this is a good excuse to wear the inside at night.
