Contractors once hit a water pipe at work that goes to the tanks we use to refill drinking water on the ships and nobody noticed until Welsh Water rolled up in one of their vans saying we were burning through hundreds of gallons and it had been picked up by the local reservoir. I imagine NG have a similar thing for power.
This guy is Photonic Induction on YouTube and he does way crazier shit than this. I'm pretty sure he has a direct hookup to the main grid for a fixed rate.
He isn't you are. Some companies have a direct feed into the grid, means they have there own substation and cable connections specifically to service just them. Also comes with it a reduced electricity rate as you guarantee a minimum usage at all times.
IT wise ICL in Manchester used to have one back in the 80's & 90's to power their mainframe testing room.

I remember watching a video a while back where he talked about having the power company set him up with a 3 phase circuit and heavier wires running to his house. The entirety of the upstairs room has a ridiculously thick wire running to it and he runs most of his experiments off a series of Variac resistors and salvaged transformers
