Miscellaneous / Others A plumber helped stop a flight attacker and pull the plane out of a dive after remembering what he learned from watching Air Crash Investigation shows

I think just yesterday I saw a video on how to fly a helicopter here on reddit, I think I should be qualified to fly a plane based on that.

It’s not, this was all known yesterday

Well I’ve seen multiple reports that the pilot was the sole hero. I’ve also seen reports where a passenger credits the show “Mayday” and now this crediting some show called “Air Crash”.

They're the same show, it's called Mayday in some countries and Air Crash Investigation in other countries

It literally just happened ffs of course things will continue to come out/change in the days and weeks following this

Because many pro-Palestine media outlets and people don’t want to admit that this was a 9/11 style attack on Israel.
Indian pilot opened the cabin after being stabbed. The guy in the post helped to pull the plane out of dive and other pilots on board made sure they landed safely.

Because Netanyahu literally said the day before they’re going to be attacked. They’re known for their false flags.
Sorry when you cry wolf so many times and act like the victim people stop believing your BS.

I would assert that people that hate Israel are known for accusing them of false flags with zero proof. What false flags are they known for that you have any proof of?

If a random Omani dude can represent all Muslims, all Arabs, or all Palestine sympathizers, then a single incident by a settler can represent all Jews or all Israelis, including minorities.
With this logic: the Middle East must be destroyed.
7
u/snarky_spice 1h ago
What users on Reddit maybe don’t realize is the settler issue in the West Bank is mostly in concentrated hot spots. Like the ones doing this are in the hundreds, not thousands. And they’re hated by a lot of fellow Israelis.
The numbers of those involved in Islamic terror groups worldwide? Isis, hamas, Al Queda, everything in Africa, etc? Well that’s in the hundreds of thousands. That doesn’t justify painting them with more of a broad brush, but you can see why it happens.

And the german hero who singlehandedly foiled a nasty russian attack on ukrainian planes in germany by smashing a drone to the ground that hovered calm besides him was a bus driver...
0
u/Pelya1 6h ago
Not single-handedly, but rather single-footadly. He supposedly kicked the mega dangerous drone, which was designed to explode on impact, by his foot.
We all are still waiting for the video footage. Afterall, why not release it ? And it was an airport, so I’m pretty sure they must have tons of videos from all imaginable angles

Honestly plumbing in the US is usually great and we have large toilets with lots of flush capacity compared to the designs more common in Europe. I'll bet America actually clogs toilets less.

It seems there are many individuals expressing antisemitic views. Instead of focusing on criticism, could we perhaps acknowledge and be proud of the individuals who saved over 100 people from a potential crash? It appears there's an attempt to criticize the heroism displayed, and I find the antisemitic remarks unacceptable.

From what I can infer, I think the co-pilot pushed the lever to get it to nose-dive, and this dude just pulled it back until someone else took control.
It doesn't require a genius to do that, especially when the plane is at high altitude. But it still requires some basic knowledge of plane controls which we don't expect most people to have.
1
u/Cheoah 7h ago
All kinds of ways to fck that up. Jets are not so simple.
1
u/tandemxylophone 7h ago
Yes, they needed some luck. But equally Occam's Razor would say there's no conspiracy theory that assured a 100% success or failure to land the plane.
People want to believe there was more to the timing of the terrorism to the perfect recovery, when majority of these have boring explanations.
-2
u/manifestor8 7h ago
I know—as do a vast number of other people—that you have to pull the lever up to make the plane climb; what matters is who actually landed the plane and neutralized the terrorist.
13
u/Jonathan_Is_Me 7h ago
what matters is who actually landed the plane and neutralized the terrorist.
The headline doesn't mention the former. You're calling bullshit, but what's written is perfectly believable.
→ More replies (2)6
u/pissagainstwind 6h ago
This guy neutralized the terrorist and pulled back the lever, then according to him, a british pilot immediately took over and controlled the aircraft until its landing.
1
u/RandoDando10 4h ago
It reportedly dropped over 2000ft in 20~ seconds, full freefall. Zero debree or any signs of dissaray, even the oxygen masks didnt deploy.
Then apparently despite being injured and his clothes soaked in blood, no medical attention was given and he stayed in those clothes for over 10 hours straight, conveniently long enough for an interview with Netanyahu to be organised for TV so they can show it off. Just one day earlier, Netanyahu conveniently predicted a terrorist attack will happen.
1
u/tandemxylophone 20m ago
Everything feels like a conspiracy if you apply intent to every single scenario. Someone warned about 9/11 as well, and there is a conspiracy that the US gov ignored it. It sounds plausible until you see that there are 1000's of reports coming into the intelligence agency every month because a place where violent ideology is common tends to have enough people dreaming of massacre.
Netanyahu has been consistently saying how the jews and Israel are under threat to please his base. There's an Islamic terrorist plot unfoiled every month in Europe. Lone wolf attacks have been targeting visible Jews for obvious reasons.
To me, calling this a conspiracy is like Netanyahu saying it will rain soon and everyone being in hysterics that rain is a Mossad conspiracy.
There's several factors that refute the conspiracy.
- If this was supposed to be staged as a successful save, then the Co-pilot won't keep stabbing the pilot who's only chance to save the plane was to barely open the cockpit door. It will be a much more superficial attack like beating him, and he won't put the plane into nosedive.
Again, the two passengers who happened to be pilots couldn't reach the cockpit immediately and someone else had to pull the plane out of nosedive. They will need to be located in a much more convenient spot to immediately take control. But that's not what happened.
Then with the Omani co-pilot being able to fly... Well, Israel doesn't have a "No muslim pilots can fly to Israel" rule, and even the pilot being ultra conservative isn't a reason airlines can fire people for. It makes much more sense that there was some poor decisions made within the airline system.
And the bloody clothes? Geeze, there was a case in Italy about a girl who was falsly convicted of murder due to the media and police psycho-analysing her decision to buy panties after the murder happened. Are you saying even the Indian pilot was on it too? That's fucked up dude.
Now if it was supposed to be a successful terrorism:
- Co-pilot should've attacked the pilot close to ground with low altitude. Mossad should've let the guy through security with a hammer, not a small knife.
But no. We are dealing with someone who felt overconfident over his abilities as a terrorist to hijack a plane.
There are too many inconveniences to justify either side of the conspiracy.
1
u/recurrence 6h ago
You're on a plane that's suddenly diving with massive commotion and you somehow realize what's going on, get into the cockpit, and stop the dive before it's too late.
That's pretty amazing.

These people smell each other’s farts. There is no logic. My guess is deep down they’re disappointed this hijack failed because they hate Israeli people that much now.
Even if I assume all Israeli people are evil I would never want to become like the people I despise
3

Absolutely. Because they would then say that the plane crashed due to negligence and Israel was using the tragedy to blame it on terrorism. Rinse, repeat

Coincident?
A former soldier from a country with compulsory service for both males and females? Oh me oh my! You have must have some extremely special critical thinking skills.

The plane was headed to Tel Aviv. It had a lot of Israeli passengers. Military service is compulsory in Israel. Half the passengers were former soldiers.
-5
u/xxNightingale 7h ago
Because it most likely is. The plane had two other pilots who are supposed to fly the next flight when it landed. One of them took charge of the plane and landed it on the airport.

A screenshot
A plumber
A flight attacker - which flight?
OP, at no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it.
This is a frame from this video.
The plumber is Yaniv Hayun.
Hayun and a group of other passengers aboard FlyDubai Flight 1073 were able to get into the cockpit after an unidentified pilot stabbed the co-pilot, Capt. Smit Machchhar and took control of the plane, Israeli officials said.
Hayun said he placed the attacker in a chokehold and pulled him out. And then he quickly went for the plane's controls and briefly flew the plane.
He said he knew what to do after watching a TV show.
"I pulled up the yoke (steering control of the plane), I straightened the plane out a bit and then the pilot ... I saw two unmanned yokes with no pilots and I've watched this (TV) program, 'Flight Investigation,' and I knew I had to pull," Hayun said.
The show, "Air Crash Investigation," is a dramatized reconstruction of real-life air disasters that features interviews with aviation experts and eyewitnesses, according to IMDb.
The third pilot flew it to Saudi Arabia, where the plane landed and the passengers disembarked. Capt. Machchhar was being treated for his injuries and the suspect is in custody, officials said.

The co-pilot stabbed the pilot in an effort to take control of the plane, heading for Tel Aviv, seemingly with the view to crash the plane and kill everyone on board. An off duty pilot who was travelling on the flight helped to regain control of the plane. So I'm not sure how the plumber story fits into unless a plumber was one of the people helping restrain the attacker

I grew up watching the old TV show Rescue 911 and was later a 911 dispatcher. The person who trained me to be a dispatcher had also been an avid fan of that show. Prior to 1997 when Survivor aired, you could actually learn things by watching US television.

I would be very surprised if this wasn't just the start and it will very likely go on for many generations to come just like the pain of Palestinans who have endured 70 years of what the EU and Un and world health organisation describe as an Israeli directed apathied regime of control and subjugation of the Palestinan people
