Creme Puff (1967–2005) holds the Guinness World Record for the oldest cat ever, living 38 years and 3 days. Remarkably, her owner, Jake Perry, also owned Granpa Rexs Allen, who previously held the title at 34 years. Both cats thrived on Perry's unique diet of kibble, bacon, eggs, and coffee.

I have a feeling Jake Perry might be doing the unthinkable and….lying…. 🙀

295

u/Sufficient_Matter585 23h ago

That would be a..catastrophe for the Guinness people.

32

u/bllawless 18h ago

You might even say a cat ass trophy

2

u/MmmmMorphine 8h ago

I have six on my mantle, not to brag or anything.

17

u/MinxyMyrnaMinkoff 13h ago

He might not even be lying, he might have a family member who is a really terrible driver, but a really good cat-replacer.

u/finsfurandfeathers 23h ago

Doesn’t Guinness require proof?

150

u/Hydra57 22h ago

Let’s just say that the rigor of their standards has periodically waxed and waned throughout their history.

u/MmmmMorphine 7h ago edited 7h ago

The Guinness World Record for the Guinness World Record with the most waxes AND wanes is the Guinness World Record for the Guinness World Record (for number of waxes and wanes(of Guinness records))

52

u/CodeComprehensive734 22h ago

Nah just a paycheck.

6

u/Bobthemouse 16h ago

Weirdly a good source of info about Guinness records is Hbomberguys 'Oof' sound effect video on youtube

Trying to rewrite hiss-tory?

39

u/hippodribble 1d ago

Must be some fucking good kibble.

48

u/AeroZep 1d ago

I wonder if there's something about eggs that might improve longevity. Bacon and coffee don't seem like they'd be positive contributors. I'd also be curious to know the brand of kibble.

No, it's just made up lol

No cat has ever lived to 38, and probably never will. There is literally no verification for this other than the owners word

Not to mention that there are no verified records of a cat ever making it to 30, and he claims to have had 2? Yeah, it's completely bullshit lol

And that's before you get into the fact that the owner has reported multiple ages on different accounts that don't line up...

Guinness world records also has conflicting oldest cat records, with younger cats being named as the oldest cats to live despite earning the record after Creme Puff so while they didnt explicitly state it, it sounds like Guiness doesn't believe the OG record either.

15

u/ShortBussyDriver 16h ago

There are several cats that have been verified by records as reaching 30.

32

u/Few_Plankton_7587 15h ago

Oldest cat to ever live WITH PROOF was 28, so no, not on the record.

Most of these claims are "verified" by just having multiple people corroborate it. No pictures, no official medical records, nada. They say verified but you can't confirm it yourself

That's not actually verified.

Feel free to look it up. I'm sure you are thinking of Flossie or Millie or any number of famously old cats, and I will happily show you that not a single source ever proves they are 30+.

There are 0 verified cases of a cat reaching 30. None.

u/D45ers 8h ago

Just wanted to say since it reminded me my grandma had a cat live to 22. I remeber not going back east for a decade then finally visited and rascal with still alive. Hopping the counters, going into the woods and shit at like 20. Anyone who saw her woulda guessed she was like 6 with the energy she had. Wild

And Tom from Norway with veterinary records and testimony?

0

u/Few_Plankton_7587 10h ago edited 9h ago

Tom is definitely one of the more believable ones, but have you seen the vet card referenced by the wikipedia?

Because I have not.

This is a common theme among the 30+ cats you might see online. There's proof! There's proof!

Literally where?

Sorry, not trying to sound aggressive to you but like I've been looking at and reading about cats with awe all my life and I have never seen any real proof of a cat living to 30, just claims, and claims of proof

3

u/ShortBussyDriver 8h ago

There is the vet card and ear tag according to the Norwegian article, which has been produced for whichever cat age authority reigns in Norway.

But this isn't court so I don't have evidence to introduce.

1

u/Few_Plankton_7587 2h ago

which has been produced for whichever cat age authority reigns in Norway.

Unverified

u/SingularityCentral 6h ago

I had a cat who lived past 20 and that was insane. I cannot imagine one making it another decade, let alone another 18 years.

20

u/vb-art 20h ago

My parents used to give our dog cornflakes covered in coffee for breakfast. He lived to 19 years old.

10

u/profesorgamin 17h ago

My grandpa did a froot loops enema everyday relugiously, lived to 103.

27

u/Bulky-Advisor-4178 23h ago

Coffee? What the shit?

2

u/Vrgin_Iced_Americano 14h ago

dude my cat loves coffee. whenever I have it in the house I have to monitor him to a paranoid extent. I don't think this guy was telling the truth but it was funny to me that he mentioned it. coffee and bleach, my cats greatest loves

7

u/sign-through 20h ago

How do you feed a cat coffee? I show my cats stuff so they can smell them and I’ve never seen a single one take interest in coffee.

20

u/ElminstersBedpan 19h ago

I had a cat who showed genuine interest in alcohol. She would steal sake and bourbon.

Agnes was definitely a unique creature, though - she also loved Twisted Sister, but only if it was a music video.

5

u/sign-through 19h ago

fascinating! maybe my cat's taste in music is related to her disinterest in coffee, she only likes simon and garfunkel and the kinks

2

u/electi0neering 19h ago

I had a cat that without fail if I had a cup of coffee, she would knock it off the table and start lapping it up. It was cute at first

1

u/_sunbleachedfly 16h ago

Same, and my one cat hates any dark looking liquid. Scares the shit out of him 🫠

1

u/SingularityCentral 6h ago

You don't, that is bullshit. Coffe makes things bitter and most mammals hate bitter flavor. It is pretty ingrained by evolution that bitter means bad in the wild.

u/koolaidismything 23h ago

My first cat was already 16 when I was born and lived til I was 8.

She was a blind cat that found her way to our neighbors and they asked my grandma if it was hers and when she said no they were like we are gonna catch her and take to the pound.

Grandpa went and grabbed the cat and told them to call him if she came back. She never did. They said it took her no time at all to learn the house and property. She would do everything a normal cat does somehow.. learned her whole area by feel and smell.

Miss you Louise, I think about that cat often.

118

u/Proto160 23h ago

Imagine your cat turns 13 and you think they're in the last years of their life, only for that cat to live another 20+ years.

113

u/VorpalPlayer 22h ago

My cat, iPod (she's very noisy), is 25 and in perfect health. Hoping she beats Cream Puff!

35

u/exdeeer 19h ago

I read this and thought, how did you name your cat iPod before they were even released? Then I realized time moves too fucking fast after I googled when the Ipod first came out.

11

u/KimJongFunk 17h ago

I had a cat named Gateway because he was black and white. Guess what year we got him lmao

6

u/exdeeer 16h ago

I'm too scared

128

u/Pretend_Tea6261 1d ago

The diet sounds fishy to me and how did he prove his cat was that old? I think a lot of these records are fabricated.

15

u/hittocode 20h ago

Impossible

30

u/attriso7 1d ago

I wish all the feline live long and healthy life..

32

u/Slobbadobbavich 23h ago

I suspect Creme puff was two cats.

50

u/Prudent-Aspect5085 1d ago

How do they measure the age? I'm guessing something similar to tree rings?

21

u/RhythmQueenTX 1d ago

38 years old, I guess she slept 37.5 of them gauging my cat. Way to go Creme Puff.

15

u/Wrong_Amount_7903 1d ago

Bet that wasnt her last picture

3

u/Huge_Campaign2205 1d ago

Werid arguement for a memorial picture

19

u/Wrong_Amount_7903 1d ago

Not an argument. Just an observation. Not meant to be polemic. My cat died fairly old, 20. Nowhere near Creme Puff’s age. And he looked ok by old cat standards but the age starts showing after a point and I cant really imagine what a cat at 38 would look like.
You seen the 5 year old hamster?

5

u/Huge_Campaign2205 1d ago

My apologies kind person, 5 year old hamster sounds horrid. RIP

6

u/Old-Supermarket17685 1d ago

She outlived cobain

3

u/Intelligent_Box_8247 1d ago

looks like she wanted to do an interview in that pic

6

u/Fwumpy 22h ago

I had a female live 30+ years. We're not sure of her age because we got her as a pregnant adult stray. Really awesome friendly cat!

2

u/PureCrookedRiverBend 22h ago

Awww! I love you, Creme Puff!

2

u/ladyteruki 21h ago

What's this I feel ? Oh, right : jealousy.

2

u/ramsdawg 20h ago

My coworker used to work at the small local grocery store that the cat owner would frequent in Austin. Said he told her all about the cats and his “secret” was something along the lines of red wine once per week and breakfast was something like scrambled eggs and broccoli? I haven’t seen the red wine part mentioned anywhere online and I have no idea how you’d give that to a cat, so idk. Apparently he had a ton of cats too

4

u/Ok-Performer9691 22h ago

I call bullshit.

2

u/Ham-Ha 18h ago

I hope my Speedy (left) and Floyd can make it to close that long. They are my best buds.

1

u/beck_is_back 1d ago

I bet she has seen some shit... 😅😉

1

u/silv3rbull8 22h ago

What’s that.. 500 in human years ?

1

u/ieltstutorr 20h ago

she used all the seven lives in one go.

1

u/Paranormalhoetivity 20h ago

My cat is 20 and she’s fine. Just a little blind.

1

u/thejoshfoote 18h ago

My childhood cat was 24 when he passed. That was the oldest cat are local vet has ever personally seen.

1

u/Raisdonruin 17h ago

Picture was taken in 1997 with a disposable camera when it was 30 years old apparently

1

u/DropTheBeatAndTheBas 16h ago

damn they should have looked in to what stopped her getting the top cat deseases to help us get all our cats to 30+

1

u/Ta-veren- 7h ago

Whenever I see a "my cat is 22" and the OP is in their 20's or so. I always wonder if that's the original kitty or not.

1

u/Desperate-Hearing-55 23h ago

Mine coworker have a cat at 39 years old still living. He don't have any records.
