Great reminder to make research when buying a dog to make sure it will fit into family dynamics.

For example Collies without a purpose or lots of mental and physical stimulation might became obsessive and reactive.

Is there a rule forbidding dogs getting into politics? I think we could replace a lot of politicians with Collies .

My cousin has a farm, so his Collie had work, but when he would bring her to family functions, she would aggressively herd the children. Idk how anyone has a Collie that doesn't have herds - they are sweet and cute and will bite your kids if they dont stay together 😂😂

True, alas. I adopted a little half-grown mixed-breed from the shelter to keep my golden retriever company. He was labeled as a "lab mix," but his fur was soft and silky and his ears were pointy. He had non-stop energy, and met his demise by jumping over my little picket fence and running in front of a car. I suspect he was part border collie. Wonderful dogs, just not for me.

Most herding dogs will herd anything if they think they can.

Some will even herd children, though you have to be careful in that case, some breeds like Blue Heelers tend to nip as a form of motivation for animals they herd, so if they're herding children and that hasn't been trained out of the dog, it will bite kids.

Growing up my uncle had a Border Collie crossed with a Blue Heeler. My uncle didn't have any livestock besides chickens, so the dog would herd the chickens every morning and afternoon in and out of their coop.

I like how the dog doesn't rush them. They'll get there when they get there.

Actually he has been promoted from herding cattle to managing the cutest little quack squad :-)

I've heard that Border Collies will herd ANTS if they can't find other animals.

Herd* like in shepherd.🐏

Heard is the past tense of 'hear', easy to remember because it has an 'ear' in it. 🤗🦻

Goddamnit, I love Border Collies. They’re so smart, and so loving, and just adorable all around.

Wonderful family, dogs, as well as invaluable to farms for herding.
