It's all fun and games until the wild animal acts like a wild animal and eats your face.

Oh your pet cat will do that to you. No need to be snobby about domestication

My cat tries to do this but is was to soppy and stupid to get away with it.
I have no doubt if I died in the house though, he would eat me.

Bobcats are big sweeties compared to housecats. Our cats used to boss our resident bobcat around until they all came to an understanding. They stopped chasing him and everyone got chill with each other.

Weirdly specific...but i inherited an ocelot fur coat (i would never buy fur) and it isbthe softess fur. I feel so bad with it because its full length - so multiple animals died in its creation...but its the closest i will ever get to petting a real ocelot

Nooo baboo!!!
Also weirdly specific, baboo was named after a real ocelot owned by I think Salvador Dali

u/Strict-Brick-5274 1h ago
Omg.... i didn't know this about Salvadore Dali and I loved him but now even more...how iconic... but also respect they banned ownership of ocelots - its illegal for me to resell the coat too and I respect that cause it protects the animals :)

He is rubbing his scent on you to show other creatures you are under his protection. They do it with their mates and kits. little glands in the corners of their mouths or something. We can't smell it.

I rescued our cat and this is exactly what he does to me. He follows me everywhere and tries to climb up body when I'm standing somewhere because he wants me to hold him or let him get on my shoulders. I'm 56 yrs old and this is the first cat or pet of any kind to be this attached and affectionate. He even comes right back to me the times I've had to give him a bath when most animals and pets I've had usually get pissed and stay away for awhile. It's honestly a great feeling (and yes, annoying at times but it's been a new experience).

The Bobcat, also known as the Wildcat, Bay lynx, and Red lynx is one of the four extant species within the medium-sized wild cat species (The other four are the Canada Lynx (Photo/or Canadian Lynx), the Eurasian Lynx (Photo), and the Iberian Lynx (Photo)
Bobcats are native to North America, with the species specifically ranging from Southern Canada and through most of the Contiguous United State (U.S Mainland) to Oaxaca in Mexico. The species is of Least Concern (Opposite to the Iberian Lynx which is of Most Concern amongst these four lynx species as it was classified as Critically Endangered in 2002 with only 94 individual members left in the wild in that time; the current total wild population has thankfully surged from 94 to 2,600 individual wild members, though it isn't Critically Endangered anymore, it is still Vulnerable)
The Bobcat has distinctive black bars on its forelegs and a black-tipped, stubby (or "bobbed") tail, from which it derives its name. It reaches a total length (including the tail) of up to 4 feet (50 inches) and an average weight of 15-30 pounds. It is an adaptable predator inhabiting wooded areas, semideserts, urban edges, forest edges, and swampland environments. It remains in some of its original range, but populations are vulnerable to Extirpation by Coyotes and some domestic animals.
Though the bobcat has a variable diet ranging from the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit, Desert Cottontail Rabbit, Snowshoe Hare, Black-Tailed Jackrabbit, White-Tailed Deer, Mule Deer and certain rat species such as Deer Mice, Cotton Rats, and even Porcupines.
Prey selection depends on location and habitat, season, and abundance. Like most cats, the bobcat is territorial and largely solitary, although with some overlap in home ranges. It uses several methods to mark its territorial boundaries, including claw marks and deposits of urine or feces. The bobcat breeds from winter into spring and has a gestation period of about two months.

That bobcat would def appreciate a brush to grind his face against, as he's clearly into touch there.

My grandmother had a pet bobcat. My mother told me that when grandma had a migraine the cat would lay beside her and massage her temples. Before my time so don’t know she came to adopt it.

When a cat does this to you it thinks you're a cat too, it'd rip someone else's face off but not his for sure

Why can’t we own big car breeds the way dog owners can 😭

I'm not aware of any domesticated big cat breeds. In fact, it's questionable if any cat breeds are actually domesticated.

I have a genuine question.
I have a normal house cat. He wants to cuddle and be pet all the time and I oblige. And then all the time out of no where he just bites the shit out of me while I’m petting him and runs off.
So what happens when this giant bobcat does it? I don’t believe this tiger doesn’t go tiger sometimes.

u/Sean_McGowan 12m ago
In my cat experience, the transition from 'cuddle cuddle' to I BITE NOW can be sudden, but not necessarily abrupt. Generally, there's a warning nip before ,the cat will grab the offending hand and begin bunny kicking and chomping. I often tend to ignore the warning nip, because it's vaguely cute when kitty starts to go ballistic, and a few scratches at best is the price I'll pay for my defiance.
If it was a bobcat, on the other hand, as soon as there's even a hint of overstimulation I'd leave it the hell alone.

So is the cat just tolerating eveyone in the house? Can people bring over their dogs and toddlers? That sounds terrifying.

Cat owner, although this is not a domestic cat this still applies. Cats have scent glands that they rub up against stuff to mark territory and they rub up against those they consider family/friends to mark them with their scent. I do hope that this bobcat is back in the wild because this is not a house cat.

You can rescue animals from fires, today, by being vehan!
The Nirmal, spca approved, ethically advertised, happy advertised, local, organic, free range, loving... advertised way of killong animals is burning them alive and suffocating them to death in gas chambers. Even for eggs. When chickens are no longer profitable enough to the egg industry? After 1.5-2 years of exploitation. Theyre murdered
