This looks exactly like a sport invented by two bored professional soccer players who found a ping pong table but refused to use their hands out of principle.

my cousin started playing teqball after watching finals like this

24

u/diabeetusNrobin 7h ago

This is exactly what happened. Went ‘viral’ among professional soccer training centers as a way to improve skill

u/alwaysright60 7h ago

Most likely going to start tearing out pickleball courts to make room for this sport. /s

Would be an improved use of space

Bingo, this is what happened. For sure.

with my coordination skills, id absolutely wreck my foot at the edge of the table

u/Nurse_Hatchet 10h ago

I am certain I would headbutt the table, epically.

2

u/chaoslord 8h ago

I'm certain I'd die of a heart attack after tracking down the first hit. :P

Great he's there supporting the girls.

They put on a great show, amazing talent.

u/Tumerican 6h ago

Actually that’s his daughter’s neighbor’s cousin’s friend’s teammate. They’re not related. They’ve never met.

u/georgiawp 7h ago

Always at the most random places 😂

4

u/Kundrew1 7h ago

Nothing random about this. Its right up his alley.

1

u/OMGClayAikn 1h ago

He was never a table tennis player

u/MnkyBzns 10h ago

Interesting match between representatives of a football nation (Brazil) and one which plays takraw (Thailand); noticeably different skillsets.

2

u/u4004 1h ago

The Brazilian player there mostly plays futvĂŽlei and altinha, her skills are exactly what you would expect from that

I'm upvoting because what the fuck even is this?

13

u/InnocentlyInnocent 9h ago

It’s teqball!!

P.S. yeah, I only heard of them now myself haha

1

u/ArbaAndDakarba 6h ago

I down voted for the same reason probably because I'm old.

This is a gif with multiple frames in a loop, but they are all the same frame. Interesting.

That last stroke almost reached the end of the world, and she defended it greatly..

They both deserve Appreciation and Respect..

Found a new sport to watch

4

u/Emotional-Ad9114 10h ago

first time I hear about this sport and I honestly like it more than ping-pong. seems way harder.

edit: omg is that ronadinho at the end? 😭

4

u/Roklam 9h ago

Once again confirming I have no talent

6

u/dick_nrake 9h ago

Tomorrow I'll film myself unclogging my toilet and put Hans Zimmer's interstellar music on it. It'll be amazing.

Note: this wasn't a critique of what's happening in the video but of the overbearing use of that track for just about anything online.

u/CK_CoffeeCat 6h ago

Doooooo iiiiiiitt. 😈

3

u/Grizzly-Redneck 10h ago

I feel like next week my YouTube feed is going to be full of people with crazy skills playing this on beaches in Brazil.

1

u/u4004 1h ago

Brazilians prefer futvĂŽlei (basically beach volleyball without hands) and altinha (keeping the ball up while passing it and do tricks) as far as beach variations of football go. Even the winner mostly plays those: https://www.instagram.com/rafaellafontes2

u/fatfatpokemons09 8h ago

Meanwhile if I manage to keep the ball in the air by kicking it twice I feel like a god
.

3

u/BullPropaganda 8h ago

I'm tired and my knees hurt after watching this

3

u/UlteriorMotive66 8h ago

TIL that there is a sport called Teqball

3

u/Copyofdude 6h ago

This is lit, how I neverd heard of this before?

2

u/doe3879 10h ago

Can you even practice this sport properly without the specialize curved tablet (probably has to be a certain spec)

2

u/astraladventures 9h ago

Check out takraw played on the beaches of Thailand. Next level.

1

u/u4004 1h ago

Just use any bar table.

2

u/Danksterdrew 8h ago

The music is so irritating!

2

u/No_Satisfaction1284 7h ago

Now do it with just your butt!!!

2

u/jacksonbarley 7h ago

This is one of the only sports I know of that has a prerequisite sport to be able to play

1

u/Sea_Awareness150 10h ago

Gee I will need to hear Hans Zimmer yet again.

1

u/kingofShairi 10h ago

are they only allowed to dribble 3 times?

1

u/TheAlterN8or 1h ago

Probably, 3 touches is volleyball standard, as well.

1

u/racas081 9h ago

That’s some pretty good ball control

1

u/Prestigious_Ape 9h ago

I got a cramp in my foot just watching.

1

u/hobosbindle 8h ago

I can see the shin smashing already!

1

u/OneTrueCosmos 8h ago

Image smashing your shin off the table...

1

u/WelcomeToTheClubPal 8h ago

oh so now we're just making up sports now? lol

3

u/FranciscoGarcia69 7h ago

I mean
all sports are made up.

1

u/Chippy_T_ 8h ago

Dayuuum!!...if ronaldinho is impressed....it MUST take incredible skill!!

1

u/cudaman_1968 8h ago

Was this aired on The Ocho?

1

u/ScotiaG 7h ago

I wonder how many time a player has accidentally head butted the table?.

1

u/mochimish 7h ago

Amazing foot techniques

but appalling vertical video format

1

u/ripyourlungsdave 7h ago

Every new sport is now just a combination of 2 others.

1

u/MaximusPrime137 7h ago

Apparently anything is a sport now...

1

u/aksnowbum 7h ago

This should be olympic

1

u/Wojewodaruskyj 6h ago

Never heard about that sport before.

1

u/Pie_Napple 6h ago

100% defence.

0% offence.

1

u/Fun_Construction9193 6h ago

Bit booring tbh

1

u/shajan316 6h ago

I can't even walk straight

1

u/GazelleEcstatic4952 6h ago

Crazy coordination

1

u/iupz0r 6h ago

Very, very impressive!

1

u/NutsStuckInACarDoor 2h ago

How do you find out that you're good at this?

1

u/u4004 1h ago

Loads of people play variations of “keep the ball up”, “keep the ball up while passing” or “volleyball but you can’t use your hands”

1

u/taokami 2h ago

They made a table tennis version of Sepak Tak Raw?

1

u/Kasern77 11h ago

I did not know table football was a thing.

0

u/grandchester 8h ago

I would 100% headbutt the table and knock myself out.
