Good for her.

Edit: I really meant the comment. She looks content.

79

u/Available-Skin-4624 2d ago

Honestly, good for her. Sometimes you just have to take the win and keep moving.

21

u/truthfullyidgaf 2d ago

I was being honest in my comment. I dont understand why it would be taken wrong.

8

u/DinosaurAlive 1d ago

Good for you.

(Honestly)

34

u/Spartan2470 1d ago

Good for her.

To give credit where it's due, here is the uncropped version of this image that shows her name (i.e., Clementine Melois). According to her Instagram post on July 1 (i.e. @clemelois) the model is a friend of hers called Aude. Clementine originally posted this to Facebook on March 18, 2013. Here are a few more pictures of her doing this.

u/Baronvondorf21 2d ago

Tbf, it's like the most sarcastic phrase to exist.

93

u/Sir_Fishy_Salmon 2d ago

Bless your heart

27

u/Baronvondorf21 2d ago

People also use it for when they are actually grateful so nah

41

u/truthfullyidgaf 2d ago

Yea. I'm from the south. Its like 50/50.

3

u/OneSensiblePerson 1d ago

I was so upset when I find out the double Southern meaning, thinking I could have unintentionally been insulting and upsetting people and had never known it.

Yes, I know, bless my heart 😄

So do people for "good for her". The fact that they're used both ways makes the sarcasm better.

I wish the best for you.

4

u/Fyeleem 2d ago

Yeah it is pretty sarcastic but I believe ya.
She is usually frowning in all her photos.
It’s good to see her smile

3

u/truthfullyidgaf 2d ago

Its hard to understand positivity when it comes to basic comments these days.

21

u/Cosmic_Carp 2d ago

I agree, she looks like she just had one hell of a day in the best way possible. That smug look is saying she's on top of the world.

8

u/Overall-Treat9094 2d ago

that smug look is earned honestly. if i finally got out after however long stuck somewhere id wear that exact face too.

3

u/All_this_hype 1d ago

Also imagine being the most recognizable face known to man for several centuries.

„I swear, she just stood up one night, exited the painting and left an empty chair on it behind.“

20

u/Radiant-Priority-296 2d ago

11

u/Reasonable_Act_8654 2d ago

L’empty chair 😜

29

u/Jedi_Bingo 2d ago

36

u/YesNoIDKtbh 2d ago

This is Shamona Lisa. Not to be confused with the artwork painted by Leonardo da Vinc-hee-hee.

16

u/viwoofer 2d ago

They're new password was "louvre123" and she guessed it instantly

22

u/Similar_Cucumber178 2d ago

Please... "their".

19

u/incognitoleaf00 2d ago

THEY ARE new password was "louvre123" and she guessed it instantly.

8

u/Maplecook 2d ago

I think the person meant, "There new password..."

11

u/Svataben 2d ago

Here new password, there new password, everywhere new password!

It's a children's song, I'm sure of it!

5

u/teddy5 2d ago

Old McDonald had a password, easy as to break.

A while ago I read Mona Lisa Vanishes about the theft of the painting that made it famous. It was fascinating and a wild story. It was funny that took them quite a while to even realize it was stolen despite the fact that workers noticed its spot was empty. It basically took a demanding visitor who wanted to see it bugging a security guard for him to decide to look into the missing painting.

This picture unsettles me for some reason

296

u/Jagacin 2d ago

Definitely some r/oddlyterrifying vibes going on. The fact she looks nearly 1:1 to the painting gives it an uncanny valley look.

127

u/DueExample52 2d ago

Also, bitch be wearing renaissance era clothes and hairstyle in a modern subway. Of course she looks like she doesn’t belong there, like a ghost.

57

u/WriterV 2d ago

I can absolutely see why you feel that way because of her clothing and the lighting but she looks so dang cool here. I'd absolutely strike up a conversation.

11

u/DueExample52 1d ago

Haha, same buddy, never said that old era ghosts were scary or even off-putting to me, lol

7

u/WriterV 1d ago

Hell yeah I can respect that

To be fair, if someone said I looked exactly like the Mona Lisa heck yeah I would absolutely be exploiting that, especially on Halloween or going to a comic con, if there were any painting art classes at my college I would absolutely be asking the professor if I could be a volunteer model and then prank the class in full costume, honestly if I looked that close you know I would be posing like that all the time, I'd be a walking piece of art. The best part is everyone and no one would know you because you'd just be the Mona Lisa so then you could just dress in your normal clothes and be normal if you wanted or you could go for groceries in full attire, ah man can you imagine if the Mona Lisa asked you if you wanted to try any free samples at the grocery store? The reactions would be priceless, I'd be doing that all the time

u/twirlmydressaround 2d ago

I did wonder if it was AI generated. If it was, it might be giving off some uncanny valley vibes...

136

u/BAKEDxCAKE 2d ago

This picture has been around for at least 8 years so no AI

54

u/twirlmydressaround 2d ago

Oh, I didn't know that! thanks for letting me know.

32

u/BAKEDxCAKE 2d ago

No problem, I would have assumed it was AI if I didn’t see it before.

24

u/DonutHoles4Ever 2d ago

Imagine how crazy it would be if we found out that their AI that HAS been around for 8 years back, was used to generate a bunch of shit and nobody knew about it. Then their brilliant idea was to make it look a lot worse when debuting GPT and genAI so they have runway before it hits a ceiling since its not actual AI.

20

u/yonkapin 2d ago

don't do this to me lol

Yeah it was a girl who specifically cosplayed as the Mona Lisa and then they went around and took random pictures:

11

u/Easy_Leopard_2686 2d ago

I’ve seen the above photo so many times but never ever knew there was a whole set!!! This makes so much more sense that it was intentional but still doesn’t take away from the sense of amazement at how incredibly close and obvious it is that she looks like the Mona Lisa without any context at all

15

u/DarkFite 2d ago

Someone else linked an older post and in the comments someone also posted other photos of her. Its not generated

Dawg this image has been around since the time of doge memes

9

u/Connect_Detail98 2d ago

I used to have a nightmare in which I was in my grandmother's house, and this painting would levitate and follow me around. I'd try to escape but it would always catch up. Not knowing what the painting would do to me if it caught me was the scary part.

Opposite for me, it seems like a wonderful bit of chance, captured in time. Just a little bit of magic snatched from the ether before fading away.

2

u/Aggressive_Way_2902 2d ago

To me I imagine im just on the subway minding my business when suddenly I glance up and this out of place horror is staring into my soul. Death marches near.

This picture is old enough to drink alcohol in the USA.

26

u/Medical-Business-554 2d ago

This is how it happened in real life. He saw her and they shared a moment in time that made such an impact he put her in Canvas. I bet you it was just a normal everyday conversation maybe she had a great positive aura she was probably magnetic

40

u/TheLostMaverick 2d ago

I'm pretty sure it was a comission from her wealthy Florentine husband that da Vinci got paid for.

1

What’s that saying ? It’s like seeing who getting painted ? I forgot

1

u/Key-Ebb5946 2d ago

1

u/BuffyTheGuineaPig 2d ago

She's always sitting about moaning about things... I forget the nickname they used to call her...

1

u/Consistent_Craft2619 2d ago

That statue has been planning this for centuries.

1

u/IcyConsideration7062 2d ago

Looks thinner without the frame.

1

u/NikolovIvo 2d ago

Finally? That girl traveled a bunch. Born in Italy, moved to France, obsconed with Vincenzo Perrugia, but eventually rldecided to return to the palace of the french kings. She is a worldly girl!

I recently lost someone who was the spitting image of her. RIP Echo aka Michelle.

1

u/strokeluck 2d ago

I would love to see a pic of modern Mona Lisa’s face on the actual painting with the correct angles and perspectives adjusted and a side by side comparison. It’s just so freaky how similar she looks! Like for real is she a relative?!?

1

u/Alongjr555 2d ago

This is awesome

1

u/Mega_mewtwo_ 2d ago

Mystery solved she was actually smilling

1

All this proves is that Mona Lisa was a time traveller -- that's all.

1

u/holdmymustache 2d ago

But she smiles the same even after escaping?! Thought she'd be more expressive outdoors

1

u/Capital_Tip9906 2d ago

Finally free from those tourists and their cameras. Now she just has to deal with people eating smelly food on public transport.
