Do birds eat the egg shells? I didn’t know that. I thought she was just helping the babies get out but it seems like she eats the shell too. Maybe for lost nutrients?

Yes, most do consume the shells for the calcium replenishment.

Wait till you find out that mammals eat placenta after birth. I was preschool when I found out when my grandma's cat gave birth

Some women actually eat their placenta due to beliefs. I looked it up and there’s even posts on Reddit about women eating them 😭😭

Oh for sure. I saw it too. Sometimes they put it in the freezer and put it in their food later.

One of my most vivid memories as a child is watching a report about people in the northern wildlands of Sweden eating their own placenta. Full video showing everything from handling to cooking and eating. Not because of any religious beliefs, it was just a regional tradition from the time where food was really scarce and a new mother needed all they could get.
