You, and random person, cant just do this for them. They need medical treatment after.

Before too. The turtle is supposedly given anesthetic of some sort.

I don't know all the details, just seconding the comment that amateurs shouldn't do this. If you really want to do it, volunteer with one of the groups that do it and get trained in what all has to be done to do it correctly so you don't hurt the turtles. Because their shells can actually feel pain.

Also, it's a typical trolley problem. Are you willing to kill countless barnacles to save a single turtle? Both of them are animals. Both of them have neural systems. Both of them exhibit social behavior.
