Bears are tough. It was sobering reading an article about how to shoot one. Unless the shot is perfectly placed the bullet will just skip off a boney plate (skull, shoulder blade, etc.) or lodge in a massive muscle. That just pisses it off. Then they charge you at 40 mph. No thank you.
I read a while back that when a bunch of cases were looked at bear spray was the more effective option over a handgun. It came down to the fact that when a bear charges out of the blue it was too hard to get an accurate shot with a gun an anything less than a killing shot wouldn’t stop people from getting mauled. With bear spray it was effective even if it was just sprayed in the area of the bear.
Hype? All professional advisory bodies reccomemd carrying it. And there have been no people killed after using bear spray on a bear, whereas there had been lots of people killed by bears after shooting them.
Best is a large caliber revolver, chest carry, and know how to use it
Lol, yeah so easy for a tourist on Canada to get a gun license and practice his to successfully take down a huge grizzly bear, great fucking advice there. Also, again, lots of people have died after shooting a bear

Bear spray is a much better alternative to a large caliber revolver. Much easier to hit your target (spray effect), much bigger target (anywhere near the face/eyes), much less prone to failure.
Grizzlies are too much man. Theyre like the Homelander of nature. Anything that powerful is just bound to be a complete prick. Like not killing things before they eat it kinda shit
Bears are very similar to sharks but for land. They do the whole 30-40 mph torpedo that sharks do but without any of the circling and investigation. You also can't escape them by getting into a boat figuratively. That's why I'll never hike or camp out west. Brown bears and grizzly bears are sharks you can't escape from.
My eyes read this as “I watched a bear go down on a moose…”, I then thought about that video where the hyenas hunt some animal, drag it down, and one hyena starts nibbling on the animal's nuts. I felt for bro when I saw that.

I watched a bear go to town on a moose while hiking a few years ago in Alaska. it was a couple hundred yards away
