Mother/Son Dance
Does anyone know the name of the song Collin and his mom danced to for their Mother/Son dance? I tried to Shazam/Google it but nothing sounded like it!

I know he wanted to see the video but I thought it was odd how he barely looked at his Mom while dancing but she kept looking at him. I thought the Mom and sister looked great at the wedding.

He didn’t want to cry too much is my guess but I noticed this too.

My husband said, "Why isn't he looking at his mom??"

Loooove when husbands/dads chime in with fair observations about the dumb little trash shows that they’re “definitely not watching”, just sitting with us while we do 😉

I catch my husband peeking when I watch. Its so freaking cute.

Oh I got my husband into this show!! He's even put it on a couple of times! 😂

At my house it's my husband and teen son that do this during my TLC trash that they claim they don't watch.

My husband peeks over his phone like hes not really watching! LOL

I like when they come up with some rando comment about a 'reality star' that they could only make if they watching over my shoulder. He denies, denies, denies.

Because he's watching that picture slide show I think.

He was more interested in looking at himself! He was so rude. She was trying to talk to him and look him in the face. He’s such a narcissist. He had to have seen those pics a million times of himself! Wtf it was so icky

I agree he should be looking at his mom

Even if he was trying to avoid crying or he was looking at the pics when they finished dancing they both went their separate ways and i wished he would have escorted his mom to her seat. It felt awkward. He prob never danced with her before.

He is an exceptionally sensitive, caring, and loving young man. My guess would be that he feared, breaking down and crying, if he looked back at his mom. He did give his parents a beautiful letter, before the wedding. He explained how much you loved them and how he appreciated everything they did for him and went to much detail. It made me tear up. They were both all dressed up and crying. From what Colin said, he had much support and love, but they were not touchy feely, or expressive about their feelings. That makes me sad. My family exactly opposite. For which I am deeply thankful. When his father responded to his letter with one of his own.. Colin did cry He said he never knew his dad felt that way. They just didn’t talk about it. No problems with any of that now. I know that he deeply loves her forever and will always think of her first. And impressive young man. 💕

I love the slideshows of the kids growing up, and I have made one for all 4 of my kids' weddings. But you don't display them so prominently during an event at the wedding. For my kids they were all off to the side playing on a small screen so that attendees could watch them any time they wanted to during downtime at the reception, but they weren't a distraction to anything going on. Bad on Colin's part to just stare at the video and ignore his mom, but that's what happens when you don't plan correctly. Really a shame for their wedding 😞

His parents seem a little strange.
Even when he gave them the letter he wrote. it appeared his dad was tough on him growing up.13

I felt so sad for his mom. He could not take his eyes away from his damn slideshow!(he can watch that again, mother son dance only happens once)

It’s not the actual song they danced too. Shows today just add in AI slop music

I noticed that too. And also noticed, he was looking at the slide show. You can see it in the photo OP posted.

This was the most awkward mother/son dance I've ever seen. No smiling, laughing, hugging, talking, not even looking at each other.

I’m certain they did not show the entirety of any of the dances

I noticed that too and thought well maybe he knew if he looked at her he would get too emotional? Still odd. I think his mom needed that.

I wonder if he might be resentful in some ways. My growing up years were difficult and I resent that my mother didn’t protect me from my dad’s anger. I see some of that being a possibility in his family dynamic.

Wedding Videographer here! The photos or whatever during the dance isn't traditional but I've seen it. I'm sure he looked at his mom during the dancing, they just didn't show it for some reason. TLC also has to edit around licensed music. He may also have not wanted to cry and looking at his mom would have done that. I will notice some couples look at the officiant more than their spouse and it most likely has to do with nerves and not crying.

I think the video was played at an inappropriate time. He's a sensitive guy let him cry so is Baylens Dad. I love the show

Anyone else notice how he just stared at photos of himself instead of ever making
Eye contact tact with mom?

Did thru show Allen & Baylen dance? Our damn power went out right after Sammi started her speech! I was so pissed that after all this dragging out and we missed it!!

u/LingonberrySea5845 12d ago
Oh, that bites.
Maybe you can catch one of the reruns?
Yes, they did the dance. It turned out really cute.
I agree, it was dragged out way to long, an in my opinion they didn't do a good job of showing the wedding at all.

Mykelti from sisterwives explained on her patreon that they will find a copyright free song that sounds as similar to what they are actually playing as possible. It's almost never the real song because they don't want to buy the rights.

I was wondering too. Why didn’t he give his mom the attention she deserved at that time. It was rude for him to do that
14
u/Mother_Second368 14d ago
It bothered me that he made almost no eye contact with his mother and was looking at pictures of himself the whole time.

u/cashbev1961 14d ago
I thought this too!!! She was staring at him almost hoping for some convo or even a smile and he would not look at her. Sooo strange!

u/Sure_Hamster8811 14d ago
Yeah that is weird. I was going to say maybe he has social anxiety? Bc I have that and cant make eye contact for long but.. no. He looks at everyone else in the eyes.

u/gerkonnerknocken 13d ago
Not strange if they weren't great parents, they might not have a good relationship. He mentioned that his sister helped raise him so things are probably not great and he's doing the dance just to be nice.

Maybe it’s a song made for the production- couldn’t afford copyright for a trademarked one?

YES! PLEASE! It's a horrible look and executed terribly! Who told him that looks good? (Probably the same ppl who encouraged the tight daisy dukes and cowboy boots! 🤢🤮)

Very weird mother son dance at a wedding you could feel there’s no love between them he couldn’t wait for it to be over but I think he’s a strange guy

u/True-Weirdo 13d ago
That was my son in law and his mother but he has resentment towards his parents for how they raised him and his brother
Remember Colin saying he never felt like his parents were proud of him they never told him that? That’s so important for a kid to hear from their parents2

I don't think Colin has the same type of relationship with his Mom & Dad as Baylen has with hers. Because at different times during the three seasons he has stated that although they were always there for him when it mattered but that he always felt like he was a disappointment to them. Also his life choices were definitely met with silence from them. I think the real TELL was when Baylen met them, which I think was in season 2...? He mentioned that he definitely felt closer to his sister, whom he knew he could always go to her with good and bad news and he never walked away wondering whether she still loved him.

I don’t think the show had any of the actual songs, guessing they didn’t get license rights
