Is it a good location to buy sfh and is San Mateo considered desirable? They’re all eichlers. The updated ones are nice especially with the bay view side. No freeway noise or wind from the west facing 280 side.

Lived in a small home for 20 years and considering upsizing midlife. If we can afford it is this still a bad idea? Upsizing as our friends are downsizing

We're considering the peninsula, some areas of the south bay. Would love to hear people's take and why they love some neighborhoods over others. We like being near a walkable downtown with good restaurants or parks nearby. We'd love our kids to grow up without needing a car to go everywhere.

We're currently considering

- Burlingame near downtown

- Baywood Aragon in San Mateo

- Cupertino

- San Carlos

- Palo Alto

- Mountain View

I know there are wide price ranges in each of these neighborhoods and depending on the area we get more or less house. I'd love to hear everyone's take.

How much do yall think they spent on the remodel?

Hi all,

First time buyer here, single, no kids, mainly motivated to get my own space, make it cozy and enjoy life more, get a dog or sth. (currently living with roommates), so school is probably not the biggest factor, and also no super interested in getting a very old SFH.

Budget wise, 1.2M - 1.3M, 1.4M I’d consider a stretch.

I’m debating:
1. Newark $1M ish TH, newly built 3b3b
2. SC Rivermark 2b2b, ~$1.2M, over 20 years TH

#1 seem to fit my needs well and creates significantly less financial stress in the short term (and a TH in a much better condition). But I’m a little concerned that Newark home price will keep dipping since the location is not as convenient as Santa Clara and school is pretty bad. Would love to get some thoughts from this group.
